I took my Solo out in public today. This is the first time I have taken my 2014 unit out and about, and I probably only took the now deceased 2012 Solo out in public two times in its lifespan.
Like some on here, I have serious anxiety about vaping in public, but since I have my card I have no reason to hide my medication from the citizenry.
I was early for my appointment with my therapist, so I found a picnic table in the shade, put on some headphones, and had a nice 24 minute session with the Solo. Only one person so much as looked twice at me, and it made me much more focused and relaxed for therapy, so I think I will be making a habit of this. For anyone worried about using their Solo in public, start slowly and discreetly, and you'll become more and more comfortable with gradual exposure. It wasn't quite as relaxed as medicating in my home, but it was still a beautiful day to be outside using a beautiful device.

Went to the ocean for a couple days. Had the Solo out and about. Nobody seem to notice. We were socked in with clouds until it was time to leave.
Now you see it. I have a cup insulating band inside that helps to stabilize it. Works great!
Now you don't. I didn't need to hide it, just wanted to try it out. I wanted to keep the tradition going using a McDonalds cup only.

Honestly I've vaped openly in state parks with it, at parks, movie parking lot, beach, in the car quite often if you don't act like your doing anything wrong people don't even look twice it's a odd concept and If that is sketch for you (I reside in fl) you can find a solid cup and Rig it to your likings and that is plenty of stealth.
CarolKing, thanks for the photos! I've been anxiously tracking my Solo (very very very first real vaporizer) and it looks like it made it to Elm Grove, WI, but is still in delivery transit to my door. It's 5:30 pm, should I be concerned if I don't get it today? I'll try to be patient. I'm really excited about this and I'm hoping I get it soon...

So I finally bit the bullet and ordered a solo. Not for me so much as the girlfriend. A good friend of mine has one, and she loves the simplicity. Who wouldn't, really? When I'm close to power I prefer the nano. When I'm not, I'm usually trying to be stealthy with the mflb. No worries! I've been fortunate in using friends' solos for a couple years and will be glad to add it to my quiver.
But, I'm having trouble finding basic usage info. I've visited this thread more than a few times over the years while thinking about buying one in the past, so I know there is a wealth of information here. The search function isn't being too helpful on this one, and Arizer is about as useful as ever (none!).
Could some of you solo pros point me in the right direction? What I'm looking for is info related to issues I've seen others have - tho they aren't bothered by. Like....
Is it possible to change the auto shut-off time?
Is there a way to have the unit come on at same temp every time?
Is there still a good source for GonG attachments other than customs?
What's the best way to keep fine crumbs from coming through the glass screen in the stem?
Is it worth getting a car charger, or can a good charge go 4 or 5 sessions while I'm in transit?
How well does the charger work in use? If my battery is nearly dead, will it run well as soon as plugged in?
And, any other info a pretty seasoned vapor might like to know, instead of figuring out for their hard-headed self?

No. It's always 12 minutes from power up (not when you set the temperature)
Yes, press the right key after start up, it returns to the last setting
Planet Vape is the only known dealer of them, although they're typically out of stock
A 1/2 or 5/8 screen in front of the glass one
A battery charge should be good for at least 4 or 5 sessions
Battery charge state does not effect performance (provided it's above lock out)
Beats me, I've no idea what you might know. IMO there's plenty of good videos and other info out there as well as this Forum.

As you all know I'm a Solo owner, had it since uhhh April I guess, have to look at my posts...
One thing is, a lot of people don't know how to use it.
You hold the right button for a moment to return to your last temp setting.
You hold the left button to turn on/off the turnon and shutoff beep.
The unit shows the battery level when turned on, then the heat level of the chamber.
Anyway.
I got the problem a lot of you have had, my battery won't hold a charge now.
Still under warranty but will they bother now that I've chipped the bottom plate with a drop.
So I ordered an HC battery from @CentiZen at his site .. waiting for it now , it'll probably take a few weeks at least.
Had a discussion with him about whether or not his product actually voids warranty or not.
To find out, message me.
So... a great product with an inferior battery. Got it cheap so I guess I don't mind the $48 for the new High Capacity battery .
I'm looking at posts now about the HC battery, hopefully it's gotten good reviews.

Also checking out the electric nail however I have found 12volt, but not battery powered yet. Guess it takes 700 watts so I'm not gonna see a truly portable one anytime soon. However the 12 volt version looks good. See what I'm talking about here.

To clarify one point, you need to hold the down button for a few seconds in order for it to go back to the last temp. Just pushing it will make the temperature go down one level.

I am fortunate to have ONLY top shelf now. I just need to know how to use the beautiful new device. Ok, here's how it went down after I picked the package off my porch:1) way smaller than I thought it was going to be.
2) sleek! (I bought the silver one)
3) easy to set up
4) I have no idea what to do with it
In regard to #4, aren't I supposed to see some cloudiness or something? I haven't checked out any videos or read up much here so maybe I'm asking this prematurely, but the 'instructions' provided in the small pamphlet don't help much (I do love how it's marketed for 'potpourri' and citronella). I set the temp for 7, which is the hottest. I was figuring I would see some sort of vapor after a few minutes. I tried it anyway. I don't know if I'm getting anything. Guess I was thinking that this is supposed to work along the lines of a water pipe. Any directions on what I should or should not be doing?

Charge it up all the way before using it. Take a small nug around the size of a nickle to a quarter, grind it up to a medium consistency. Put a 1/2 inch screen in the stem against the glass. Load up the stem and lightly tamp it down so that the material is below the rim of the stem (so it doesn't touch the actual heater). Place the stem in the Solo, and turn it on. Set it to level 4, and wait for it to reach temperature. Once it does, wait an additional 20-30 seconds before you take your first hit. You will notice some resistance, don't fight it. It's like that for a reason, it's a guide for how hard your hits should be. A slow 10 second draw after doing all of the above should get you a really tasty hit with a little bit of vapor, and then a bunch of dense hits after.CarolKing, thanks!

You can grind your herb or not. I would start out at heat level 3, some folks like the lower temps. I start at 4 and go up to 5. Sometimes with herb I go up to heat level 6. I usually use the higher temps with the WT.
I will go higher with the temps when mixing herb and wax. Slow and steady draws will get you where you want to be. I can usually get 2 - 10 min sessions per bowl. You can really save on product.
Just relax and enjoy.

I don't think you can call that the same problem the rest are having.....you're talking 3 months? Unless you and the rest of the Regiment have been hitting that puppy big time, there's no way you wore a normal battery out that fast. At the short side that would be 3 charges a day (say two dozen sessions). And abusing the charging all the way? Naw...... Either you had a lame battery (pretty unlikely) or an out of spec charger really hammering it (perhaps more likely?). Either would be quite uncommon, I think.
More to the point, it could well eat your new battery just as fast if not faster. The battery type chosen by Arizer is by no means a cheap compromise. It's actually state of the art for this sort of application, the one you'll find in the better laptops for instance. When it comes to service life, it's a high bar for the HC pack to clear for sure. In terms of cycle life in enclosed packs running about two Amps it just doesn't get any better than the ones being used.
Do you have a meter? I'd be awfully tempted to check the charging. Good luck with it.
Thanks for the pointer on the electric nail. I couldn't find much by way of details, but if it really is 700 Watts (and it might well be if fast heat up is an issue) that's a mighty tall order. At 12 Volts that's (700/12) sixty Amps, give or take. Several times the intermittent rating on the typical car lighter socket. Jumper cables directly to the battery are a more appropriate way to get that much power I think? I'd carry spare fuses (20 Amp IIRC?) at least........
Oh, yeah, I'd keep the motor running too, it'd take a bit over 40 minutes to kill my brand new battery at that rate. Probably not a good time to deal with 'Triple A'?

Thanks for the tip.. speaking of tips, gonna check this adapter, says 12V 110v 1000mA DC , model sw-120100 , UL listed....but going to test it.
It seemed to me to be awfully short life span as well.I haven't even used the 12v charger yet.
Oh and about that nail, not sure the wattage. I only know the household version is 700 watts, if I remember correctly. Will check up on it more. Sorry to spew 'facts' before checking on them. However that said, I highly doubt the 12volt version takes 60 amps.

Those are the specs of both my 2012 and 2014 chargers. Nothing seems amiss with yours on paper, but testing it would still be worth your while.
