Arizer Solo 3

Sorry I didn’t phrase my question correctly. I meant if you just got the software update would that update the USB.

I know that Arizer stated that the charger that came with the Solo3 was the only one that could be used with that device. Does anyone know what makes that charger so special, can I purchase this type of charger on line and what would be the replacement for it.

It is not the charger, it is the cable. It needs to be a USB type A to type C. I've never used the charger that came with it.

I'm not 100% sure, but my understanding is it has to do with voltage from the charger -- it needs 5v. Anything higher and the USB C port does not recognize or accept the power source. the new version should recognize all chargers and will automatically delivery only gets 5v to the device, even from a more powerful charger. in other words, the old version rejects any chargers higher than 5v. The new version accepts all chargers and automatically adjusts to accept the required voltage.

gonna keep my firmware the same, the lock doesn’t bother me. But that green screen is cool, also the charging is an upgrade. I am having vas like symptoms tho.

USB C to C also works as long as the power adapter doesn't supply more than 5V.
I have an original Google power adapter with USB C to C and can use it to charge my Solo 3.

Regarding V2..
At first, I really thought it was an April Fool's joke.
A broken green display is supposed to be an upgrade?

Otherwise, all the updates are purely cosmetic... Sure, USB-C support is good, but I never had any problems charging with V1.
The heating and performance have remained the same.
If I didn't have a Solo 3, I'd probably just get V2, even though I find the display weird. But as a V1 user, I don't think there's any reason to update.

Sounds like you may have glossed over all the extra customization features available in the on demand mode now... I felt like the updates were largely firmware in that vein offering more control, not all purely cosmetic
Yes, I saw that it has an on-demand mode and three modes that you can customize... Nice to have...
But none of these features are going to blow me away.
I don't want to complain about the Solo 3... For me, it's currently one of the best portable electronic devices... But I'm not going to get caught up in the hype about the V2 :)

But I think the display is a "downgrade"

there is a black option v2 with the same display colors as before, so the green screen is not really a downgrade? an option you dislike, sure. I like my black one too!

Yeah so I was just clarifying, not exactly purely cosmetic, it is more like three smart short cuts, I think it is interesting being able to change the time and temp for each of those three presets, makes them a bit more useful, for the individual user (I think that is better than having the five set temp and being able to change only the time, or having extra set temp settings there like we were discussing as a possibility previously here) ... I'd have changed the name on demand mode, to be something instead like user control mode or micro session mode? eh

It remains the same :) A great device, the software is being improved.
I've had my Solo for over 6 months and used it daily until 2 weeks ago... until I received a ball vape.
A few days ago, I used the Solo 3 again and did a few bong sessions, and then I noticed how strong the high is, and that it's very similar to a ball vape.

Sorry if this is old news - but I find the solo 3 vapor makes me cough more than anything else in my arsenal. I’m a heathen who loves to sesh with the Pax 3, but I also rotate between a ‘cano, DV and the solo 3. Any recommendations on stems for smooth sessions with this one? Haven’t reached for it in a while and want to revive instead of trying to get rid of it, its too good through water to let go.

What temperature(s) are you running it at? I go up to 200 on mine and don't cough too much and I have baby lungs. That is through the regular straight stem. A J hook with the WPA will help if you don't mind looking like Steampunk Sherlock. :D

I can google this but does the Solo 3 also have a just set the temperature mode for on demand and session? Not picking or adjusting a preset, but just picking a specific temp and adjusting if desired in the moment?

Thanks. The Solo 1 was my first vape and I regret selling it.

Yes and no. The preset feature is specifically for the on demand mode, since it is different, more like micro sessions, with full control. So now you have more control to set up those presets is all (three presets where you can control time and temp instead of just time with five presets). There is still the regular classic session mode with full temp control range available, that is unchanged

Think I get it but to fully clarify for on demand you have to pick a preset, can't just put it in on demand mode and pick a temp?

Thanks.

Correct, V1 you put it in on demand mode, then press heat, you have to remember to set it for one of the five presets, it will be at the one you were last using, and you can adjust the time setting... Now each preset, three of them, can have its own time setting and its own specific temp setting, you have full control over that, before it was just preset temp settings and your choice of time, for all of them... Does that make sense? I say micro session instead of on demand because it is just faster with more control available compared to session mode
