Arizer Solo 3

Yeah so the Solo 3 is great, but I fired it up just now and it showed me low charge, I plug it in and is shows me 27% charged. That's high for a low charge. Is that normal? This is a warranty replacement and the other one even when the battery indicator was red you could still get a bowl. This one I don't even get to the battery indicator flashing red.

Yes this has come up before, it should have another dash, instead it considers having no dash showing, 25% left lol

So after maybe a year using the S3 as a nice low-temp session vape, I finally got curious enough to explore the on-demand side of things. I know, I'm lazy and it was such a great sipper in session mode. But I do have a lot of great convection vapes including the Bowle2 which is about as on-demand as it gets.

But wow. I was wrong. Maybe it's the on-demand honeymoon period but I really love using the S3 this way. The signature is definitely different. Much more convection bias, especially on the first draw. Really pleasing.

Right now my formula is Level 4 start with a fresh 2/3 full XL bowl to get things warmed up nicely. Then, once the glass is warm and more conduction is creeping in, I'll move to level 3 for a couple more draws to finish it off.

Interesting. I've tried on-demand a few times but always went back to session mode. But I have always gone 3 - 4 - 5. I will have to try going from 4 to 3.
Yeah, I found if you started at level 4 and moved down, then you get a super tasty first hit and moving to level 3 counters the stored heat in the glass so you never get any burnt or popcorn taste for the rest of the session. I guess you could also move from 5 to 4 if you wanted something even more intense but with less risk of popcorn taste.

I've only been using on demand mode for months... Mostly level 4... Taste isn't always that important to me... I prefer the couch feeling.
But I only use Solo 3 at home with a bong... I set the time to 15 seconds... It depends if I set it to 20 or 25, which my lungs can handle, but it's hard :)

Standard setting was 20s, I had to lower it to 15s. Using level 4 feels quite right this way. Will try to go down instead of up

Mine is set to only 10 seconds and I still use the lower settings almost exclusively with on demand mode, drawing once complete lol

I use mine at 2 and 20 seconds, does it get hotter faster when the seconds are lower? I’ve honestly never even messed it all my settings are still stock lol…yes session rocks lol

No, I just think it gets hot quickly, when I tried using it with 15 or 20sec at middle setting, it scorched the load black and was extremely harsh for me, too many back-to-back hits instead of just one, as I prefer

It is completely relative, to your time and temp settings when using on demand mode, so level 2 for 20 seconds is much hotter than level 2 for 10 seconds in my experience

IMHO the simplest idea would be to port over my TinyMight Essentials stem concept, which would look like this

temp-Image-Qoad74.avif

FEATURES
- Inert medical grade zirconia ceramic
- Discrete opaque black color
- XL bowl capacity
- Tapered screen ledge
- Mesh screen for high airflow and EZ cleaning (can run a pipe cleaner through the entire stem)
- Built in 14MM WPA
- 3 hole Convection Air Cooling (Inlet holes are automatically blocked off when using as a WPA, so the air cooling only works in direct draw mode)

I have some more advanced concepts too but this one would be pretty easy to get going and should be affordable / accessible for anyone.

Appreciate all the input and suggestions from everyone :leaf:
Hi !
Can you tell us at what stage is your project at ?

What’s this? A Solo 3 v2.0? Is it true? With fully adjustable programable temps for both on demand and session mode? I hope I read that right in the email from Arizer ‘cause I just bought one lol. High and (not really) wanting to get the 420 VAS in motion for 2025. Let the credit card incineration begin

I’ve just seen vape guy’s overview of the v2 on YouTube.

Lots of good upgrades and tweaks that address most of the complaints about the S3.

It’s more appealing for the on demand users than anything IMO. 3 presets down from 5, but they can now be adjusted in 1c increments and the draw time is coupled with the preset. So you’d do say 160c at 10 seconds as flavour preset, then say 210 at 25 seconds for a heavy ripper preset.

It now also shows the residual heat in the bowl after an OD cycle which is an awesome feature.

Can turn that irritating lock off as well! The interface is generally a bit faster and smoother and there’s some other little tweaks and settings but they’re more minor.

The USB-C is a proper PD port now rather than the awkward in between it was on v1. The buttons have been made sturdier and clickier by the sounds of it. It now comes in a nice green colour and the UI is green to match. That’s more or less the changes on the hardware side.

Can see why it’s a v2 rather than a Solo 4. Not a must buy upgrade but a very good upgrade. Especially for OD users.

No mention of a firmware update for V1 devices. Short-sighted not to address some of the interface complaints.

I see there's a V2 of the solo three. Hope they fixed the running too hot issue! Mine was so bad I sent it back to the vendor and got a Solo 2! When your vape burns the weed when set at 340F, something is wrong!

I just contacted Arizer about the update for hardware on Solo 3 . Did they send you prepaid label for postage?

Butch,

Maybe not the oldest, but possibly the fartiest!
here's the full response I got back...

For the trade in, you get to keep all the accessories (or sell the new ones to offset the $100)

Hi Allan,

Thank you for your inquiry and interest in our latest releases!
The Solo III v2.0 features the following enhancements:
  • Real-Time On Demand Display with Adjustable Presets (Software Update)
  • Session Toggle for Extended Session Control (Software Update)
  • Streamlined Operating System (Software Update)
  • USB-C PD Universal Charging Specifications (Hardware Update)
Your Solo III v1.0 can be programmed with these v2.0 Software Updates. You’d simply need to pay to ship your device into our service center and we will be happy to return it to you with v2.0 Software. To proceed, please confirm the following information:
  • Your Current Shipping Address
  • The Serial Number on the Bottom of your Device
  • A copy of the sales receipt or other dated proof of purchase*
Unfortunately it’s not possible to upgrade the Solo III v1.0 hardware for Universal PD USB-C Charging, but if that’s really what you’d prefer, we can make a special exception to trade it in for $100.00. With this option you’d still return the device only (no accessories) to our service center but upon return we will send you a link to pay for the upgrade to a brand new and complete Solo III v2.0 (with accessories) in the colour of your choice. To proceed with this, please confirm the following information:
  • Your Current Billing and Shipping Address
  • The Serial Number on the Bottom of your Device
  • Colour Preferred (Intergalactic or Sea of Green)
  • A copy of the sales receipt or other dated proof of purchase*
Once we have this we can advise you further. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions and we will be here to help in any way we can.

Note, I think free shipping starts at $150 for airizer, so the $100 upgrade/swap is likely to be $110 after shipping.

I think getting the software upgrade is a no brainer. The hardware upgrade is pretty enticing too. What will you do?

I just received a email on information they needed. I guess they will be sending me the shipping information. They will do the software update for free. I wanted the new USB port but they won’t do that. They will do a trade in but it will cost an extra 100 dollars. That would bring the cost to me with the original price figured in at almost 400 dollars. I think I will send in for software update. I don’t know how long that will take but I have a Argo and two TetraP80’s till I get it back.

That's very nice that they moved forward with this simple upgrade, and labeling it as a V2 will help keep things clear for retailers and customers until the original is phased out with old stock... Also it's really nice to offer upgrade opportunity, I don't think I will bother sending mine in, for now, since I can accomplish the same thing just with more manual control on my end as is (and can live with the other inconveniences) but maybe in the future, or maybe a full device upgrade someday... Definitely enhances the value here, and I like that the added settings and changes for on demand mode, are taking advantage of the true micro session nature of that mode... Nice customization opportunity! Still hoping they will start including the old bent stem as it is so much more useful than those straight short stems imo (and PS Arizer has always done return shipping in kind, as in you pay to send it to them, they pay to send it back to you, which is a pretty standard practice in general)

Nice they’re offering upgrades, otherwise everyone be pissed again. It works good for what I need as is and I like the 5 presets in OD, so I‘ll be skipping the upgrade, spent enough on this thing already and it is a throwaway device. Getting rid of the log on is best thing, hate that.
