Arizer Solo 3

I agree. It is NOT like sucking a thick milkshake through a straw unless you overpack the stem. I had a vape that was like sucking a thick milkshake through a straw and the Solo 3 is not that. If you can drink ice tea through a straw you can hit the Solo with ease.

Overpacking is particularly a problem for the stems with glass filters where overpacking / over tamping can plug all of the holes. You can avoid this by putting a metal screen on top of the glass filter to prevent the holes from getting blocked. Better still are the hi-flow WPA/stems which I would highly recommend for you. The hi-flow stems are equivalent to the Venty set on air flow setting 2/3 based on my experience with both.

@minkyboodle Pete's Canadian store vapenorth.ca still had them in stock. 420edc has some different ones but they don't look to be the XL size. I've never tried those ones.
Sorry this is so late but I finally got around to comparing the bowl size of the SneakyPete hi-flow XL WPA(left) with the Arizer XL WPA (yikes! sorry they're so dirty). I know someone in this thread wanted to see the size difference? I think they're almost the same size but some aftermarket hi-flow stems can be noticeably smaller.

Anyhow, the dimpled design holding up that mangled screen on left gives you a wide-open airflow. The glass hole screen design is prone to getting one or more holes clogged, leading to a 20-25% airflow reduction for each blocked hole. They're ok but as you mention, adding a screen is wise.

Someone needs to clean their stems! :D It looks like your have the screen mashed down on the dimples, not sitting on the little ledge above. Is that correct? I've tried that but had trouble with the screen slipping and me getting some unwanted snacks. It also seemed to leave the 10% or so of the material next to the screen under roasted. Do you get the same effect?

With the screen on the ledge the size is about 3/4 of the glass screen stems.

Really tempted by the Solo 3 but wondering how restricted it feels, especially through water. I love open airflow and hate that milkshake pull feeling.

I’m thinking Venty for dry and pass-around use, and Solo 3 strictly for water to get punchier hits. Does water open it up enough? Is it smooth and free-flowing?

I wouldn't call this a milkshake but it's not the most open air flow? Certainly much better with WPA like from Good Vibes Boro that's just uses steel mesh screen instead of the holes in glass, but it depends how you load and grind of course too. And water doesn't open it up, that depends on the water piece etc too, a lot of variables, I wouldn't call it smooth and free-flowing, but I wouldn't call it super restrictive either? S3 is nice dry with the proper setup, right angles etc

I’d rather avoid a full desktop or ball vape if I can. I prefer hybrid over full convection like the Tinymight — too harsh for my weak lungs and GERD. Would this Venty + Solo 3 combo cover both bases? I’d consider the Bowle too, but full convection/on-demand tends to make me cough even if airflow is wide open.

The hybrid experience can be done well with some ball vapes however... TB is pure convection on demand just like TM so, not sure that would be much better, it can't go quite as low in temps and it doesn't have alternative connection options to use more cooling (although it has a hook built-in basically with the right angles)

GERD wise, I think S3 actually is bad for acid reflux, specifically, I find pure convection much better (and smoother personally, when compared to hybrid conduction) so must depend another variables like how it is used exactly and one's own personal issues? lol

I have, but like the idea of the Solo 3 as a portable log with conduction added effects. Are there any logs with conduction capabilities with wider airflow than the Solo?

Logs are traditionally more pure convection, but there are ways to maximize more radiant heat? Perhaps not as easily or common as the baller options, but they're already even baller logs and other log varieties available now... Anyway this discussion on more other vapes is off topic and better to post in ask FC really

Good day everyone. Thanks for all the great info you all have shared here on the Solo Vape. I have a v1 Solo 3 coming and definitely want to get a high flow WPA/stem. I see the one at Sneaky Pete is out of stock. Are there any other high flow adapters I’m not aware of? Thanks again!

GVB as mentioned above, I told him to make WPA, we'll see, he has a huge drop coming up for the 420 sale with plenty of solo stems (his toad stems also fit, they just are a little loose, which is great making it easier to clear imo)

Yeah the screen is fidgety until you can get a tiny bit of reclaim to hold it in place. I know you clean your stems every night so that probably doesn't work for you. I've mashed mine down in such a way that I've never had snacks make it through. I think even if bits did get through, my setups have enough bends to catch them.
I can't say that I've noticed any under-roasting but I haven't looked too deeply at all my AVB for a while. The last time I remember checking it seemed very consistent and didn't stick to the screen much.

I saw that line in the glass but never really pegged it as a ledge for the screen 🤷‍♂️. I prefer my screen right on top of the dimples to maximize the bowl size.
