Arizer Solo 3

Me again...
I've had a few sessions now and I'm absolutely thrilled.
The high is Dynavap level.. But without a lighter.. and everything happens much faster and it looks more subtle.
It's a total difference to Crafty+, where you were constantly hungry for the next session. But with Solo 3 I had enough after the first session :) and even later the intervals are significantly longer.

Even on session mode? Just received my solo 3 today to replace my solo 2. Been using it mostly on sessions since I have a tm2 too. Can’t wait to try it tonight! Any xp with solo 2?

Well, not 100%. It’s heat resistant enough to be put into the oven right after use. But it’s not meant to touch the stem when heated extensively.

The other day I found some black smear on one of my stems that I couldn’t assign. Later i found those marks at the cap, realizing it got melted a tiny bit. It’s no concern at all as it’s fractions of fractions of a millimeter. This have to happen an awful lot before it turns into a problem.

Btw I was asking myself if this thing can be replaced, but couldn’t find no spare part. Anybody lost it due to breaking or ripping out of the unit?

Wow, that sucks. Unlucky.

I lost that part on the OG Solo I owned a long time ago and it's not necessary for the vape to function but probably nice to keep things like dust and foreign objects out of the oven. The one on the S3 seems sturdier. I don't know if it can be purchased separately.

Maybe a DIY sturdy silicone cap would be better 🤷‍♂️

Very happy that you're enjoying it 🙂. I hope you develop a nice long relationship with it 😉🤩

I really enjoy the taste on the low temp levels like 165C 🤤.

Then try moving to 175C and then 190C to finish.

So I would like to recant my previous statement that it is not possible to do a hi temp “one heat one hit” extraction with on demand.

Holy crap. I’m still not sure what I did different but I had the most thick, potent vapour off a single level 5 25sec heatup and my preferred standard stem with coarse grind. Kept my inhale going from beep to beep of course, we don’t fuck around out here ;)

It felt noticeably different to my other attempts, and when I went for a second cycle I got absolutely no vapour. Popped the stem and she was dark brown fully roasted off one hit, Anvil style.

Didn’t even feel high for like a few minutes after which confused me even more… until it hit me:rip:

I still feel a bit funky this morning if I’m being honest!

You notice any difference between coarse or medium grind with the solo 3 ? I have a bcg with medium plate, does the coarse worth it?

I do, yes. It’s been my experience that the coarser the grind, the more airflow I get, the faster I can extract the bowl.

Can’t comment on the plates as I own a 2 piece grinder - I prefer them wider rather than taller, and I just grind until it hits a consistency I’m happy with. Try it for yourself! Grind it just enough to break the material up and no further, then load it and see how you get on :)

I got my S3 back yesterday. Set it at 390F and mounted it on the bong. Cringed and took a hit.. ( the one I returned ripped up my lungs on the first hit! ) Much better! The first load was capped with a 2mm glass spacer I got from 420EDC. The second load without the spacer was much more harsh, irritated my lungs and throat. This one was packed full on purpose to see what would happen. No combustion this time at least! Now I packed the stems fairly tight, but the Ice Bong has such good airflow that the restriction is hardly noticed. And I'm definitely getting some seriously big hits! I can't even imagine hitting it in On Demand mode!
BTW, after my expressing my unhappiness to them, they returned it UPS Second day. The squeaky wheel gets the grease lol!

Congratulations 🥳 Honestly I was wondering why you couldn’t do that, since you’re more experienced than me and even I felt it not that far away.

I also kept playing around with on demand and I’m really digging it. I fully extracted at 5, but I also did so at 3-5 and 4-5 and 1-3-5 and so on. At first I didn’t understand how a timed heat up could give me more control than a constantly kept temperature. But it really does and it’s a playful experience.

So many possibilities, all different, all working great. And the variety even grows when I throw my two bongs in the mix. Right now I feel like a kid in a candy shop, unable to decide, wanting it all. But since I’m grown up I actually CAN have it all 😂

Thanks!

I’m still not sure how it happened, I feel like it’s something to do with how I inhaled. I think the convection plays a bigger role in doing OHE’s with on demand than I thought.

I’m going to experiment some more after work, and see if I can repeat it.

You’re right there’s a lot of variety offered by the S3, the only issue is that the hi temp sessions work so well for me that I get too comfortable with only doing those ;)

Ha! We all have our weaknesses. I'm actually pretty stuck enjoying my S3 on the lower end of the temp spectrum. I temp step from around 328F->358F->378F. The S3 is so efficient that even at these low temps I find there's not much vapor left by the time I get to 378F during a 10min session with XL bowl.

I've dallied with the on-demand mode but not seriously yet. It's so freaking good at low temp sessions that I can't get enough 😆. I love it when during a pull, you feel a blast of terps getting vaporized at a specific temp and it just coats your mouth and tongue with flavor 🤤.

I also love little pipe-puffs that swirl vapor around my mouth and nose while also exhaling through my nose a bit to really savor all the notes.

Oh man I know what you mean about the terps. When I do have the occasional flavour session it’s just incredible the clarity and vibrancy of the flavours that come through. That glass purity combined with the gentle, insulative conduction of the S3’s hybrid heating really help to give some of the best flavour I’ve had in a vape!

Before the S3 I was certain nothing would ever beat the Dani Fusion for flavour but this device certainly does.

I should do it more often really but I’m a high temp guy and always find myself impatiently itching to crank the heater up and get blasted

Hoping to see some discounts on these for upcoming holiday sales. Almost 100% of the feedback I see from various sources love this thing, and it looks like a great device for me to add to the stable. Just wish the batteries were easily replaceable, as I expect they'll degrade after about a year or so (such is their nature).

I’m a high temp guy also, but due to vaping way too much lately and a little bit of a cold, I have a sore throat and can’t take those hot hits right now. So I’m using a bong, 15 seconds draw time which I run over, priming my bowl at 1 or 2 and then roasting it at 5, this makes the whole experience super smooth. I’d say it’s also a tad smoother than temp stepping in session mode, as the weed isn’t cooking all the time. Despite it there’s still enough conduction to satisfy my stoner needs.

Speaking of, I’m sandwiching some hash atm… yummy!

Since I got Solo 3, I have rarely used Dynavap.
I really didn't expect that... I thought I would continue to use Dynavap mainly and enjoy sessions with Solo 3 every now and then.
I have another question about the heating chamber:
Do you clean? and if so, how?
You should barely need to clean it if no flower spills into it. I use the WPA+pipe so often that gravity keeps it very clean since the S3 is inverted. Once a month I take a damp qtip with some ISO and wipe the oven. It's a very easy vape to keep clean since the stems are what require the most cleaning, and you can even stick the stems right in the dishwasher. Bonus.

Had an amazing rosin bowl last night myself 😋

The key to maintaining good flavor in all Arizer portables is to avoid letting crumbs combust in the oven. @TigoleBitties method works great. Alternatively have placed a screen over the load to prevent spillage. Dosing capsules work and have experimented with both the Healthy Rips Fury Edge capsules, as well as the Davinci IQx SS capsules. Both perform well.

Vapor fumes will eventually begin coating the oven surface regardless of what method used. A dampened Q tip in 99% ISO will keep staining and off flavors at bay.

The Solo3 is an amazingly versatile vape; something for every style of vaporist. Sounds like you have no regrets that you added it to your arsenal.

When I bought the Solo 3 I broke my 6 yr promise of never, ever buying a vape that didn't have removable, replaceable batteries. So far have no regrets. The two 21700 batteries that power this unit are going two last awhile for the average user. No doubt battery packs will be available like for the Solo 2 in the near future. Currently of the mind set that maybe I should have a back up just in case. :hmm:

Has anyone timed how long it takes to charge with the battery run low? Mine came with a 26% charge. I took 41/2 hours to get to 92%. However, that was not with the factory charger. Just curious

It takes 3ish hours to charge from 0-100%

Mine charges in about 2 1/2 hours with the factory charger and cable. That is from 4% to 100%

I would say this is approximately accurate.

I charge when I see it in the 30s and rarely ever charge to 100 (usually just mid 90s). It seems really quick like 1.5 to 2 hours max. I use the charger/cable it came with.
