Since people are still kindly posting 'likes' on my long 'technique' post
(prior page), I'll add the following changes, as I've incorporated them into my own use, and I can't edit that post any longer (forum constraints)
Temp: 480F (+10F)
1st draw: 15s after first click (2nd will occur if cold enough, but doesn't matter on the first heat cycle)
(new)
2nd draw:
- Count after 1st click occurs.
- If 2nd click does
not occur:
Stop after 12s past 1st click
- If 2nd click
does occur: Go to 15s.
Doubling the heat soak on the first draw improves the flavor (I still hit natively on this one).
Now, you're focusing more on *if* the 2nd click occurs, and what to do if it doesn't (it's hotter, so cut down the heat time).
A nice side benefit is that 480F will 'time out' on the wand, right about the time you want to be pulling out, anyway.
A second one is simplifying things with the count--always 15 as a base. Helps a bit, as you get into your sesh
This will give max extract w/o pyrolization / combustion. If you want lighter roast, adjust these times downward.
Again... your experience will likely be a little different. Tweak as needed, to your liking.
