VaporGenie

You will need to remove the clip, and soak the mesh in 91% Iso.
then use multiple pipe cleaners and scrub that VG's innards...
finally get to Vaping...
In the end, what will cover the smell is layers of Vaporized oils spreading over that space!
Ugh... really?
I hoped the problem would solve itself eventually...
What's 91% iso btw?

It will to some extent, but it will take a longer time to get there. Best advice is to clean what you can, hopefully down into the 'wand hash deposits' under the tobacco tainted ones above them.

91% ISO is Isopropal Alcohol. Commonly available as it's used in Nail Salons and the like. Stronger than normal 'rubbing alcohol' (which will work in a pinch, but not as well).

Another solution for the mesh is to remove it and 'flame it'. Hold it by the edge with a clamp (old roach clips work great for this....) then hit it with your touch type lighter until it glows. It will burn the junk off, leaving ash you can easily knock or blow off.

But yes, really, a cleaning is the best idea. Much better to remove than cover up (it's still there then....).

Good luck.

Well guys, I just received a package from the doorman and need to share my excitement with you all!!

Yes!!!! I just received a VG coil as a gift from brother Stu, who read my message complaining about VG website still not willng to sell to my third world birthplace country, and made some (over 40) kid just soooo happy by sending his piece to me, that is something priceless!!

THANKS Stu, you deserve all my gratitude and desire to keep helping people around here as I try to, and will never forget your absolutely generous attitude. (needless to say that generous people are what I mostly find around here)

Will plug it into some water bong to test it, and (maybe) come back later to report results. I'm absolutely excited!!!

Cheers

Awesome stuff br and stu. I remember seeing the post a week or two ago from you guys and thought 'how f-ing cool would that be if this hookup worked out?'

And it did.

Inspiring shit, gentlemen.

Yes, absolutely inspiring! As far as I am concerned generosity is accepting something someone is gently offering (while some people may claim it is not educated to accept things...) as well as gently offering to others. I am pretty sure one who gifts a kid some toy or candy feels pretty happy about that...

Enjoy, BR!
I hope you have some "manga rosa" to put in it. ;)
:peace:

Well, not exactly, but some fresh guerilla buds gifted from a close friend! Interesting that this same genetic while bricked (in paraguay probably) and sold on the slums can be so badly treated, look and smell so bad... the pure well treated flowers are soooo tasty and smell soo good, some would not believe it came from that same seeds....

So, a brief report on yesterday night first experimentation:

I was using a torch lighter and went so hard for the first hit I combusted it!!! lol !!! hahaha I had to wash my bong and was not happy at all with results, so went over again...

Next try was scary to combust it all over again and started very easily, but got huge vapour clouds and had to open the coil in between every hit to be sure there was no combustion (and there wasn't).... Such small amount of flowers load and I went soo high I did not want to reload it, that was enough success for the first (ops, second! ) try.... I need to mention that I woke up today feeling the buzz already, what powefull tool!!!

Cheers guys!

Hi everybody, just wondering if anybody put hash oil on top of the filter along with packing it normally? I lost my power for a couple of days last month because of sandy and this is what I was doing. I did it a couple times and didn't notice any clogging nor any bad smells.

It's been done, it fouls the filter internally, not a good idea generally (which is why you don't see it promoted).

There's cleaning fix for it using a home vacuum cleaner to pull air though it while you torch it to glowing red for a while. It's on the VG site I think.

Even if you think it's OK still you might want to do that burn and avoid this in the future? Even if you're careful not to combust (which also happens this way).

Yea man I wasn't sure. And but when I said pack it normal I meant as it suppossed to be used, just the HO on top not plant material, I think my language may've lead you to believe I put plant mater and smoked out of it, if so I apoligize for my vagueness. You think I still need to clean it having just put the HO on top of the filter and using it to vape simultaneously? It was really high quality, if that makes any difference. Either way, thanks for letting me know, sorry for acting the noob.

NO! I misread that part. If the oil went on the herb (not the SiC heat exchanger above you put fire on normally) and it didn't leak down you should be fine.

Sorry for the confusion. The vacuum fire technique is to clear carbon fouling in the SiC element (poor lighter technique or misuse). In normal use it's never needed.

Enjoy it, IMO they're great little vapes. I just got a hand carved wood one to replace the one I loaned out for a friend to try.....it never came back..... I also like the coil version, it's really fun IMO and a natural in a WP (it drops right in 14 or 18 mm GonG connectors).

My fault man, I worded those terribly, I'm using my kindle to get here because I broke.my computer, and editing my posts with this thing is some what tricky. I keep hitting n instead of the space bar, then I fix those but miss a lot of other mistakes.

Again, thanks for the info. This is a nice vape, I have the older model hand carved one. Its great for when electricity isn't an option, blackouts and camping, et al.

I think i need to get one of these tomorrow to broaden my portable vape line up... I can see a time/place where i can use one for sure... that hand carved one is nice, but ill probably end up going for the original one...

I think you'll really enjoy it once you get the hang of it. For many of us it was a 'first vape' and there was no turning back. This little guy is deceptive at many levels. Not only can it be used for a wide range of levels (from reflective puffing to 'grab a bunch quick and get on with it') but it teaches you a LOT about vaping in general. You can explore different temperatures of extraction easily.

One thing to try is 'both kinds' of lighters. Both 'candle' and torch. Either will work (as will solutions like hemp wick), but most guys find one works better for them than the other. If you order straight from VG be sure to get a few spare mouth pieces, they're very well made and handy and half a buck each! I've never broken one, or worn one out, but I often end up putting them on other vapes (like Iolite and lately Omicron) as they are IMO nicer than round ones.

Anyway, another often overlooked US made vape that everyone should consider.

Cool... that's what i'm looking for in a vape, variety and a customizable experience that i can learn from, and apply to other vapes that i lost faith in... i see now how the user is the problem/solution when it comes to vapes Performing "shitty"... iv'e been learning to manipulate (those) vapes and use them how "they want to be used" instead of expecting them to be my idea of an "ideal vape"... now i aim for effectiveness/results rather than big visible clouds to validate my experiences w/ different vapes. Apparently this is capable of big clouds though, so cool haa.

Picked a blue standard vg today. I love the blue! The hits ive had have all been good. I could see how itd be easy to burn. Im surprized by the vapor it can put out. Its pretty smooth besides the higher temps which is expected. I like the draw on it. I can draw hard and get vapor or sip and get vapor. Im using a torch lighter and i like how it works. Although it needs to be half full or more cause of the angle of the lighter. Has some issues starting sometimes(spark). Besides that i use it on the smallest flame and once the draw gettes warmer i inhale a bit harder while rising the torch, then lower if i need more heat. Its not hard to go over i can tell. Theheat builds quck once it does you react so it cant get hotter. I guess the filter holds some heat plus the flame os reslly hot so you cant just leave it in one spot for to long and not expect it to get hotter and hotter. I think thats the problem with most who say "its either smoke or no vapor" The feeling of getting nothing for a bit makes you raise temp too much and not realize its building to fast and combust. With the torch i had clean taste and easy to control the heat. I wont bother with a bic. I do need a better torch besides the free one i got at ezvapes with my vapman. By the way the potential of the hits are soooo much better thsn vapman. I do like the vapman tho. :) Its expected since vapman is at vape temps for a short while then temps drop right away. Its efficient though as well as the genie. bowls are twice as big maybe in the genie. Depends how high you fill. I dont fill it too much to keep it from the filter. The covection works well here. I believe its mostly convection as the screen should be below vape temps soon after drawing. The filter holding heat though does make it so you have to adjust during the hit.....so i guess its not as good as a steady air temp convection unit....but its portable and uses a lighter.....so ill forgive the genie for that. A good lighter thats more reliable and doesnt have a cap dangling while hitting it.........and it will get higher marks. No taste issues at all with a torch and a clean piece.

I was just browsing the VG site and I came across a model I hadnt seen yet. Looks like there is a new metal VG: a Bronze Sherlock!!

d65lN.png

http://www.vaporgenie.com/products/metal-vg-vaporizers/bronze-sherlock-vg-vaporizer-details

I think it looks awesome. They say it hits like the glass Sherlock but obviously is much less fragile.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this, but I've never used a VG before. My favorite vaporizer is the SSV (my daily driver) but for reference I've also used a Volcano and MFLB. The MFLB isn't really my style though, honestly... based on that, would one of these bronze VGs be a good match?

Hits are bigger than mflb or atleast they can be. Im liking the bic lighter the best but all the reading about the flint getting everywhere and inhaling gases......i dont know if i wanna use it much more. The torch works but i like how the candle flame heats it better. If im gonna vaporize than i think im defeating the purpose because there doesnt seem to be any facts just opinions.

I'm playing around with hemp wick trying to get some fat rips with it but can't seem too, not sure as to why but more testing to come for certain.

brown hobbit...once I got my technique down, the VG was my biggest hitting portable.

YFZ ...just flick the lighter with it away from the VG and you'll get no flint in it. read this thread and you'll likely be convinced that teh butane burns off before getting into the airpath.

pcpvapors...I could never get enough flame from the hemp wick to get a fat rip off the VG.

hobbit...if you work it right the VG is a hell of a heavy hitter for a portable.

YFZ...read this thread and you won't likely worry about the lighter anymore.

pcpvapors...I could never get that thing to work with the VG either.

I can only really hit my VG with a bic, just works so well. I tried a pipe lighter and hemp wick, but with the bic I have much better success.

Ive been using my VG a lot latley, and ive also noticed how hard of a bitter it can be. Like, wow, does this thing hit hard. I'd honestly say I can get a bigger hit and better taste out of it than any of my other vapes. The first hit is all great taste, the second hit is taste with a kick, then the third hit is just ridiculous in size. Then I stir and leave it for a second session later.

I worked that Hemp wick for weeks before I figured out that it was not meant for VG action.
Love the VG!
