Hey everyone,

I am having a problem with MFLB warranty and service. I bought a box used, and somehow I only checked the function of the light and heating, I never looked closely at the screen and it has a big hole in it. I went through the process to warranty it, and they said the box had been warrantied already.

Magic Flight clearly says in their Warranty FAQs, that the box being warrantied needs to be sent back to extend the warranty to the NEW box, not the other way around, which now Magic Flight is telling me, and they will not warranty the old box.

This completely goes against their own policies about resale, and screws anyone who gets screwed by asshole sellers.

The person who did not send the old box back is the one screwed, not the person holding the damaged box....per their own warranty. If I had not read this on their site, I would have never bought used.

I've never heard of a situtation like this. Can anyone chime in here to help?

Edit---Thanks OF.

Yeah, if you bought it on the Classified section here or somewhere online, names would be useful to know who to avoid. If it was IRL, then I'm sorry :/ hopefully MF has some sort of solution for you, they've got an amazing track record from the amount of pages I've read here.

Edit: Magic Flight, if/when you see this, why not add some sort of "warranty search" feature to your site? Just a simple search for the Serial # that tells you if the box has been warrantied already or not. Just a passing thought.

Has anyone used any sort of a steamroller attachment? BigDaddy mentioned the idea of a turkey baster. I found this one on amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/Norpro-5897-Glass-Baster/dp/B0000CFSHX
It's glass and the size of the tip looks like about the right fit for my whip. I'll report back when I get it.
I'd be interested in hearing if any better options for a steamroller are out there. I got my bubbler, pump-fill bags, whips, and a steamroller would round it off nicely. I can't wait.

As a medical patient, my flower comes in the plastic nug jugs... I made two holes on the lid at opposite ends and added tubing, one extending down all the way and the other only extending in about half an inch. All I do is add as much ice as I can and take rips through it.

As for what you want, I can't imagine it being too hard to construct with, say, a water bottle. Make two holes at the bottom, one small enough to fit the stem tightly, and a second bigger carb hole. Then just milk the bottle and take a huge hit with the carb opened. Sure, it's kinda ghetto/high schooler level, but it works!

Plus I haven't seen any steamrollers with the joints for bowls, it's always either the bowl is just part of the tube pushed down or it's built in. The only problem then is figuring out how to seal the whip in the bowl unobstructed, which I found was remedied with some clay.

@Sektr: If you're still new'ish to the LB I would first experiment w/ your grind ;) that's free lol. I found the finest grind makes huge performance leaps in the LB.

If you want something for around the house I'd lean towards getting a SSV, DBV or Cloud - some kind of heavy hitter. The LB is great on power adapter but then loses the portability factor. In my head - need desktop and portables to have full range of vape availability.

i completely agree with Lo's statement. i thought that getting the PA would turn my MFLB into a solid at home vape. although it did improve the performance of it, it still does not replace the experience you would get with a dedicated desk top vape. after having my LB for a year i decided it was time for me to get a true heavy hitter like a UD and i haven't looked back since. i love my MFLB for its portability and still gets the job done but after getting a UD, like Lo said, i have a 'full range of vape availability.'

i'm actually going to be traveling up to Maine on Saturday with a bunch of my friends as a graduation vacation seeing as how a bunch of us just graduated college and have been friends for a pretty long time. a few of them are do smoke so it'll be nice to be able to bring my MFLB up there to share with them and make the vacation experience that much better!

Caveat emptor. I don't mean to be harsh but your expectation is unrealistic. Some scumbag sold a unit that should have been returned. As recently discussed here, Magic-Flight's only recourse is to invalidate the warranty on the replacement and on the damaged LB. Any other action leaves them open to fraud and warranty abuse. How are they to determine whether you are a victim of a fraud or a participant in one?

I don't see how this goes against their policy about resale at all. Legitimate resales are covered by warranty. That's all they promise.

Nice! I have a couple questions... can I just use a normal concentrate in the MFLB (hard or slightly sticky nuggets) by enveloping them in cotton the same way? Also, would it work if I used this method: http://forum.grasscity.com/apprentice-tokers/929355-tutorial-how-vape-hash-mflb-pics.html
- which is basically the same thing except you replace the cotton with rolling paper?

Bummer. Sorry you got ripped off.

But let's be clear, the black hat belongs to the dirtbag that sold it to you. He's the one that misrepresented it as a legal unit, not MF. The fraud is right there. The legal aspects of the warranty I'm sure support this, it's pretty standard ("boiler plate") stuff. Your only 'actionable options' rest with the seller AFAIK, MF has no contract with you (a statement on their web site is meaningless under contract law 'alone') They have to be in a relationship to you for you to have a claim on them. The legal concept is "Quid pro quo", you can look it up, but usually it involves exchange of interests (you get the box, they get the bucks). You have no contract with them, you have no claim based on their contract with the original buyer. As I understand the law.

MFLB could probably invalidate the new warranty for the thief since he never returned the old box (failure to perform), but they would still not be obligated to replace it for you although I suspect they would out of good will? As it stands I understand they're not wanting to support this and suspect most guys can as well, but wish there was something else to do besides essentially charging the rest of us who play honestly a bit more to cover the loss. It would also be good to 'out' the thief so the rest of us don't get taken in by him? Not sure how to do that.

Again, sorry for your loss. Perhaps Blisssville can make you a good guy offer on a bare box, even though I think they have no obligations to do so and every reason not to?

You buy such gear to enjoy, it's going to be very hard for that to happen here seems to me.

Bummer.

Actually, I made the used purchase based on the unconditional warranty. Regardless of the damage before or after I made the purchase, the wording of the warranty is very specific, and implies that there would be no way I could acquire an already warrantied unit.

Unfortunately, Magic Flights warranty leaves any number of scenarios to happen. Their warranty clearly covers used units. Who can judge if a resale is legit as one of you points out? Are we all high here? (I am)

I own a working unit and love it. Their customer service and policies leave much to be desired. I waited weeks for a reply. I received two different contradicting replies from my same reply, as I think they have a few people handling the same service calls. That fact right there, is unprofessional IMO.

The way their warranty is worded is iron clad IMO.

I'm sorry, but I must strongly disagree with you about Magic Flight's customer service. I have received nothing but good service from them. They have always gone above and beyond to help me, and have always called me back or emailed me in a timely manner. It never took "weeks" to talk to them, ever. They are so nice, and a refreshing change compared to the customer service other companies provide. I cannot recommend them highly enough! :)

I believe there is nothing wrong with either their customer service or their policies. If you did indeed buy an LB that had ALREADY been warrantied, you WOULD NOT be entitled to another warranty replacement on that same box. I don't see why that is so hard for you to understand. It makes perfect sense to me.

Again, I'm sorry you've been taken advantage of, it was obviously intentional.

However, again, I think you're ignoring the all important point that you have no claim to that warranty. You have no contract with MF. Your contract is with the thief who took your money, MF is not responsible for that transaction.....they had no legal role in it. The concept is "Quid pro quo". If I offer to send you $1000 but never do, you're SOL. You never gave me 'something of value' in return, no contract exists even though I made an offer and your accepted.

Ever notice how the Private Eyes on TV are always telling the new 'customer' "give me a dollar"? Now you now why, as soon as the helpless woman pays the dollar there's a contract.

Sorry, but that's the way it works. I understand you expected something different, but that's the rules.....straight or stoned.

You have to wonder if a competitor of MFLB is faking this.

You need to read their warranty again I guess.

It states that used units are covered. How am I supposed to know Magic Flight allows some returns, but not others, based on the seller? Ludicrous.

Warranty policy is not usually so incredibly lenient. Burton Snowboards for example, requires a receipt and furthermore I have never heard of a company allow a second, third owner, or, whomever finds it, claim warranty. I would have never bought a used box if this type of scenario were possible.

Maybe this is the type of attention that might help Magic FLight, help loyal customers and beat some scumbag? I know I am not going anywhere. This message board seems pretty cool.

best,
Matt

Do you need proof? I would be more than happy to send a picture of me, my MF, and say a beautiful thunderstorm outside Denver right now?

PM me your phone number and I will text you a photo.

Their warranty is what is nauseous to me. Not your own judgements as to what I should or should not get because of my own fuck up.

As for their customer service, cool people, slow service, basically my only complaint.

It seems to me if you were genuine you would be putting your efforts into dealing with MFLB instead of putting shit on them here. You're wasting your time bagging them here, we all KNOW they are exceptional on service.

Actually one of the reasons I came here was my lack of satisfaction from the slow warranty process. It has been a full month until this point today. ( I just went back and looked up the emails.). I also recieved contradicting emails, obviously more than one person deals with returns, which can be confusing to the consumer if emails get crossed. Not professional at all.

I did a google search for warranty issues, and this site popped up.

I thought I might be able to get more info here.

What part of this do you not get? They will not give more than ONE warranty replacement per box. What the seller did was sell you a box that they had already made a warranty claim on, and did not tell you this.

This IS NOT Magic Flight's fault, nor are they a bad company because they will not give you another replacement box. If they constantly gave out free LB's, they would go out of business. You need to go after the guy that sold you the LB!

I'm quite familiar with the warranty and I see nothing in it (or the accompanying FAQ) that implies that you could not acquire an already warrantied unit. You say the wording is specific, so it should be simple for you to quote the exact wording and explain how it makes that implication.

As for Magic-Flight's customer service and policies, there are literally hundreds of posts in this thread alone that praise Magic-Flight for outstanding service and describe how they've excelled. You're entitled to your opinion, but I can assure you that virtually no one who has had experience with their customer service will agree with you.

The fact that you even feel entitled to warranty service speaks volumes about the high quality of their customer service and policies. I'm pretty sure you can't name another product with a transferable unlimited lifetime warranty that includes accidental user damage. Your problem is that there was no warranty to transfer.

Hey Vicki,

I for sure am not going react to your emotion, we both obviously love Magic Flight. I made a Magic Flight review video for a snowboard forum I frequent, and I mention it all the time to the patients I refer here in Colorado. I am a mmj patient as well, and I am stunned finding this out about my second purchase from this company.

There is no way to know if a box has been warrantied already. How is any used buyer secure in knowing this could happen sight unseen? Maybe I am helping other used buyers by posting here too?

I understand your frustration, you got fucked. Don't blame Magic Flight for it, though. They're not the ones that lied to you about the box being warrantied already, the person that sold it to you did the lying. Mf isn't at fault at all here, and if they do decide to send you a new one, it would be purely out of their own faith that you're not bullshitting them. As for their email response times, mine have always been under 24 hours. All two of them, one asking about registration and then a thank you email.

Look, you own a store and you sell a product that you believe in. You believe in it enough to offer a lifetime unit warranty that covers pretty much everything, on the one condition that once you make a warranty claim on a unit, the NEW unit gets the warranty and the last one gets blacklisted because.... it's broken. Now, I come along and say that mine broke, and I'd like another one. I get my second unit, and decide to sell the first one to someone else without telling them that it doesn't have the lifetime warranty anymore. Then you get the buyer mad at YOU because he got sold an un-warrantied by a third party, saying your warranty is dumb and you should get a free unit.

Look, I'm sorry you got sold a bunk box, but don't get mad at the company because they're trying to prevent any fraudulent claims (like the ones the seller did, I'm assuming.)

I suppose you are putting your complete trust in the seller where this is concerned. Did you buy this LB from someone you know? Can you contact them and tell them what is going on with the warranty issue? Magic Flight is not going to be able to help you with this. I think it really sucks that the seller did this to you, but you really need to contact them.

I wonder if it's possible for buyers to ask for the seriel number from the seller so they can check with Magic Flight to see if it has been turned in for warranty before? Some way to protect buyers?

You need to read their warranty again I guess.

To be blunt, no I don't. I don't in fact need to do anything, I'm not the one with the problem.

I in fact did as you suggest. It describes what they will do for the original buyer or his agent (in this case you'll claim you....). You are now asking for a second replacement for that box, what do you suppose they would tell the original buyer if he asked for another free replacement? I think you're getting the same answer, you just don't like it (which I understand).

I think you should listen to me, rather than dismiss it because it's not what you want to hear, at least enough to go look it up. I'm not making this up. It's been carefully explained to me. You have no claim, no 'standing' with MF. You cannot compel them to do squat (including answering your emails....). Not that they would of course.

Look at it from their end, they've already replaced that box under warranty. Now a stranger wants them to do it again. In a strange way, they have the legal title to the box you're using....you bought stolen property, twisted as that ends up being. The damaged box was not the guys to sell you.

There is no way I should be able to even get my hands on an already warrantied box.

Please read this carefully;
The warranty states, ANY owner of a box is covered. The old box is the warrantied unit, and for the warranty to continue on the new box, the original box must be returned. This implies the original box is either a. returned or destroyed (as I understand happens in euroland), b. continues the warranty and the new box is now VOID. If any owner is covered with a box, a. and b. need to be applied.

I thought about the bullshitting thing. I even stated in my first email that I bought it used, and on craigslist. The kid I bought it from lives in my town ( suburb of Denver), but he is avoiding texts. I am an adult, and for sure do not want to harass somebody over something that is actually somewhat illegal, if this kid is underage.

But, that is exactly what you need to do. It's not harassment at all. You need to keep contacting this guy to rectify this matter. If he continues to ignore you, that sucks, but you can chalk up the loss as a learning experience. The whole thing sounds very shady. Especially the fact that he will not return your texts. Try calling him. And, you can be sold an already warrantied box if the seller does not send it back to Magic Flight like they are supposed to do.
