Arizer Solo 3

Name,address, phone, where purchased, serial number on bottom of unit. That’s as far as I went with it. I decided not to go ahead with it.

Just chiming in here with my perspective - I really dont like that Arizer think it is OK to essentially release an 'upgrade' mere months down the line, and give v1 users NO option of updating the software from home.

Even in this 'new' v2 unit Arizer didn't consider to implement some kind of software updating capability. It could be easily achieved through some kind of app or similar.

I appreciate they let you send in your device if you want to update the software (which to be honest in a USB device that costs $300+ is already a joke) but if you're not from US / Canada, good luck getting that trade-in offer or software update, as they apparently are unable to offer it.

I honestly doubt I will ever buy an Arizer product again despite really enjoying my Solo 3 so far.

As a V1 user, you're not at a disadvantage, and you can update or not.

V1 will work just as well as V2.
There are other manufacturers that constantly give an E04 error and constantly have to be sent in, or they install fiber optic cables in their devices.
No, everything's fine, I'm very satisfied with Arizer, even as a V1 user, and their service is absolutely great.

There's no reason to complain.

And if (heaven forbid) the v2 did have a similar type of error like the Venty did, you are completely out of luck since you cant update it from home to fix the bug! You'd literally have to send your device back to get it sorted.

So your logic is flawed, and there is every reason to complain / be annoyed at this decision by Arizer.

Luckily, I have so much experience with Arizer and their service that I can say that your post contains a lot of rubbish.
Sure, anything can happen with the new version, but predicting an E4 error is bullshit.

I agree that not having a user initiated firmware update is short sighted. Don't understand why, but it must have been discussed internally.

Did you ask Arizer if you have any options?

My guess is that the cost was too high to let end users upgrade the firmware. They would need a Mac and a Windows app, and they means programming. They they have to support people doing to, and more importantly screwing it up. They likely weighed the negatives of people having to send it in vs, people bricking their units and blaming Arizer.

We aren’t even sure what he firmware upgrade process is on these units. Maybe is not a very stable process, and it’s just easier to to have the service folks do it.

Sure, it would be nice to have a user upgradable unit, and maybe future units will be designed that way.

It is just the internet. People love to shout and scream and whine while preening in public. That is all it is. Reddit is mostly a toxic sewer. As a Solo 3 owner, I am very happy to see that they took the feedback and improved the product so quickly.

Yeah Idk what all the fuss is about. I'm happy to see the upgrades but it's not a whole ton of new functionality. Mostly tweaks.

It will never be possible to satisfy 100% of people.
If there are no updates, people will complain; if there are updates, it's too soon.
I've had my Solo 3 for 6 months and don't feel like I'm at a disadvantage.

In any case, the performance (which is most important to me) has remained the same. New features have been added.
I consider the green display more of a downgrade... It's more of a fashion statement :)
Many people on Reddit are celebrating USB-C DP... To be honest, I've never had any problems charging with V1. Even my Google power adapter with USB-C to USB-C charged (5V limit).

I maintain that there's nothing to complain about... V1 is great, and V2 is a nice update for new users.

Apply this same logic to Arizer adding a feature which literally hundreds of people have been asking for for years - OTA software updates.

So by this same logic should they not have also added OTA software updates? Its literally one of the most major things people have been asking for, which is even more relevant now with the release of 'v2'

OTA update means Over the Air, that is via the Internet over WiFi or cell networks. Typically applied without any customer actions or consent. I definitely don't want my vapes connected to the Internet ever. I also hate the stupid Bluetooth driven vapes.

Customer-applied updates are great, but absolutely do not want OTA updates.

And as far as I know, they don't have the PA anymore, where you can plugin directly and bypass battery? That used to be an option... I bet people would love that to be standard, as use while charging is not the same thing

I asked about the software upgrade and since I'm from Europe I wasn't interested in sending it to Canada either :D
Arizer support replied the following:
If you would just like the software updated, that can be done at our service center in Germany.

To proceed, please confirm the following information:
  • Your Full Name, Current Shipping Address and telephone number
  • The Serial Number on the Bottom of your Device
  • A copy of the sales receipt or other dated proof of purchase*

I'm happy that they keep improving their product and give you the option to update the V1 software without charging anything for it.
(which they don't have to do since the V1 software does what it was designed to do as far as I know)

I'm also in Germany, and the service in Germany is provided by reinh.art.
I've had very good experiences with them as well.

I might update mine, but at the moment I don't think it's necessary.
But it's great that you have the option to update.
