I was actually thinking along the same lines. Like the backpressure holds the heat near the herb for longer, creating a bit of conduction (as you say). If I remember correctly, I believe the WPA wasn't as hot as usual either - lending credence to your hypothesis. I'll report back after replacing the beads later today. :science:
Well, after putting the beads back in the WPA, my results were slightly improved but still not like before.... AND THEN: I realized I grinded up some herb that my buddy gave me for these past few sessions, so I grabbed some other stuff and the vapor was immediately back! So, I'm gonna take the beads back out again so I can do a true comparison of what I was originally trying to compare! lol. :sherlock::science::tup:

Slipped on the ice last night in my driveway taking out the garbage. It was a bad fall. My TM was in my sweatshirt pocket. My back and body are friggin’ killing me. My TM with the short stock stem and rubber cap survived intact however. I loaded some indica right away and took a few pulls for ‘pain relief’ amidst applying ice to my back. But my TM was thankfully none worse for the wear. I didn’t check the inner glass tube directly but I think it’s fine, ar least I don’t hear any rattling. My TM continues to shine almost 3 years later. I love this vape!! :peace:

Did you load it up and puff away before getting up? Ice is the worst. Glad to hear your TM is OK.

I often forget that the discrepancies in the way my vaporizer is performing is also dependent on the the weed I'm using. It's not just the vaporizer. I'll be interested to see what you find.

I had been using boro balls sandwiched between two screens in the stems that came with my OG TM. Those worked better than the OG stems, but are a bit of a mess to clean, but I've found the High Artisan stems using glass 'pills' provide better cooling and are much easier to clean.

I haven't removed the beads (again) yet. I'm going to wait until next week when it's cleaning time again. The familiar airflow restriction is so comfortable I don't wanna change it again right away.

I ended up ordering an 80mm glass tube from TM with an additional CU and 5 basket screens. I'm going to pair it with one of my acrylic MP's from TRWW. It will likely get beads instead of the CU, but I am not beneath using the CU's for certain occasions. It's simple and easy to clean on the go.

I debated pretty hard about the GVB dimpled/beaded route vs the HA pill route and went with the GVB stem several weeks ago. I do enjoy it, however with the elbow it doesn't travel as nicely as I imagined it might. Therefore I usually grab something straight (no elbow) for the road, and when I'm home I prefer the TRWW WPA and my perfectly sized (dry) perc piece. I am considering posting the GVB to classifieds but I think I might order a straight pill stem first. That way I may end up with two stems to post to classifieds, hopefully moving them along faster.

Really digging this device alot. I may be starting to dig this thread as much as the device!

Ice has put me on my ass more times than I care to think about, and it fucking hurts. We call it, going ass over tea kettle. Ice on the road is a whole 'nother motherfucker.

My GVB is lovely, but doesn't give me the cooling I'm looking for. I'll keep it for a while in case it's needed. For what I can see, his stuff is going up in value so I can probably get more than what I paid for it down the line. It's an investment. ;)

it is true for GVB stems, they also sell quickly in entexchange.

Once I got inside I did. I figured I’d need to. I do think my TM is OK. Maybe later I’ll check the inner glass sleeve just in case. But the vape does work.

Sorry to hear. I hope it’s the last time for both of us! It does fucking hurt. Everything fucking hurts, even putting socks on (I’m tall too). Cheers. :peace:

Vaped a bowl with a friend who has never vaped before in his life with the TM2. For whatever reason with on demand mode he basically couldn't get a hit. Remembered there was a session mode and cranked it up to 5. Within 2 hits he was tapping out hahahaha.

All right this is not exactly the U-turn stems yet, but something wild and crazy cool:

So it is sort of like a P-hook stem:

True dat!

A hairdryer to dry. Whole process takes about 5 minutes.

For what it's worth, I've done the same thing with my quartz-ball filled stems - just run under hot water, then shake it around - you can hear the balls loosen when it is cleaner. I've also pushed all the balls out of one end into a shot glass of iso - both methods were pretty quick and easy.

I use this method too! Tongs or dishwashing gloves to hold the stem so you don't scald your fingers, plus a spritz or two of dawn powerwash (it has a bit of rubbing alcohol in it), then scalding hot tap water. Didn't think about using a hairdryer to dry it, that's perfect.

Lamart sells an extra-long wood clothespin to hold glass stems beneath hot tap water for cleaning, I also use it to hold them when I too am using a hair dryer afterwards

Question when in on demand Mode what effect does holding the button down while inhaling have? Dose it continue to progressively get hotter as you hold it down after the quick vibration?

It would, were it not regulated, but once it is warmed up it then adjusts maintain temperature, that is part of where the power comes in to keep up with your inhale and not cool it down too much during a hit... So then when you let go of the button, power cuts off to the heater, you continue inhaling, to fully clear the heat and your hit of vapor... The session mode is a bit of a misnomer, in my mind it is simply holding the button down for you, so I only use it if I'm going to be removing the stem to clear my hit or turning off the device (what I do for higher temp level one hitters through water so I don't have to hold the button down the whole time) normally I am taking one hit on demand starting very low in the dial, moving it up tiny bit by tiny bit for each hit until the load is extracted certainly yet flavorfully to my liking with all glass stems/hooks

Guys, I just got a Grav Upline Taster and everytime I pull, I swallow weed. I have to use my tongue as an actual barrier in order not to eat more weed.
Do I need to use a mesh? Thanks

Yeah, I’ve used that stem without a screen, too and found it to perform similar to you. I even used a course grind but still got little snacks. A basket screen is your best bet.
