I went to DV for the Coil as a dab rig with IH and it's really excellent for that purpose. Currently using an 18 inch Roor with the Waterwand. I hadn't been using anything but BHO for years. But after getting my second Solo and enjoying it I decided to try the DV with flower.

I found the DV was much more earthy tasting in general, even if I gave the most careful respect of the clicks, hits almost tasted toasty. Not a real problem for me and the flavor was almost nostalgic in the bong but not the vape flavor/experience I prefer.

That being said, I find some of the flavor chasing obnoxious, and I'm someone with very sensitive taste and smell.

I've tried a few high end convection vapes and I was impressed but I there's a point at which the monetary investment and the time and energy spent become obsession and the hobby becomes a vice (aka VAS). I was reading about the $300 Toad yesterday and got to the part where someone said it's effectively a one hitter and shook my head. Who has time for that? Maybe people who only microdose. Back in the day I had a dozen bongs of different types but my sensibilities about collecting paraphernalia evolved. Hobbies, collecting, I get it; but we're also pursuing a particular function ideally. FC helps me a lot in this regard because many of you have TOFTT and given great info before I make decisions to purchase, for which I am most grateful.

TL/DR - If you want real consistent flavor, stop messing with flower, where all your oils are bound in carbon and plant matter. Concentrates will give you an inifinitely better taste every-single-fucking-time, no exception.
Yes well many cannabis consumers are obsessive. A particularly high percentage of cannabis obsessives can be found right here at FC (no offense intended....I am here too). I entirely agree that we consumers can become obsessive at times about any of many facets of cannabis use or consumption.....and it really can get silly fast. Flavor, cloud size, lighter choice, tip performance, induction heater quality, stem finish quality, yadda yadda. To the outsider...all of this must seem absolutely crazy. Not to mention the talk of 'my notches are bigger than your notches' lol.

Question: so concentrate with coil and induction heater? Assuming that you are standing the stem tip down (vertically) and inside an IH to heat the concentrate: doesn't the concentrate/material drip down into the top of the cap? I've never tried it....but in my mind it sounds like it cold make a real mess.

Most people load the coil with something that gives you +-3 hits, much too small an amount to get anywhere near overflowing from the caps edges.

Sometimes you can see the vapor starting to form inside the glass Waterwand as it stands in the IH, so some of the concentrate is being vaped by the cap or surrounding heat before you even start to draw.

Same for me. No regrets since I got great advice. I really enjoy the materials, designs, processes. especially of the manual artisan vapes. I can get lifted quickly if I need to, or I can linger over what flavors are presented by a given device, or just enjoy the overall experience. From my perspective, this is all gravy: I spent 45 years or so tasting burnt rope, so I am pleased that flavor is even part of the experience. That said, it's not just flavor I'm pursuing. We have different needs/desires/usages so we hunt for things that suit us. I don't mind my current excess, because, really, everything I have gotten I enjoy, thanks to the insightful posts and advice given here and on other forums. Pathological collecting is nothing I'd encourage, but many people winnow from their collections those devices that don't suit them. Point is, it's great to have fun/useful/enjoyable pieces, and it's always good to simplify, simplify. If people here weren't creating/trying/refining/commenting/reviewing, we'd all be pursuing our needs blindly and with much more excess, or there'd be a poverty of choices, neither of which are preferable outcomes.

Yes. This is my pitch to like minded friends. Similar concept to safety matches or lead pencils. When all else fails you...these things still perform.
For dabbing, through a rig, I can't imagine a faster but also more reliable set up really.

Unless we're talking about something that you can load .3-.5 of concentrate in at a time and vape to nothing, and then you're probably sacrificing that taste you chase. The 2-4 hit load size means a real terp hit about 50% of the time. The DynaCoil is just efficient in this way. I can also clearly see what vapes off and at what temps. When I add CBD/CBG to the BHO it is obvious that it takes more time or higher heat to vape those cannabinoids off the coil. You can always pull the coil out with tweezers and visually see the oils left.

I torch the coil clean with an enormous torch after every loading. This ensures a clean taste. It may also break the titanium down faster than other cleaning methods, but it works well and I still get maybe 3 months of heavy use from a coil. If there's a long time DynaCoil expert watching this thread, I would love to hear some thoughts on it's use and upkeep.

I have noticed that the quality of the titanium in the coils might differ? I've received coils from DV and POTV and I think there is some inconsistencies. This may be why some coils seem to last longer than others. Difficult to verify....

Simplicity, simplicity, and simplicity. Oh and durability too.
Simplicity is certainly an end for many of us, and probably an end for all of us sometimes. But let us not forget entertainment, which is also an end and may, to whatever extent, kick simplicity to the curb. That is part of what makes this all a hobby for me, where combustion was more just a means to the end of getting high or reducing pain. The hobby aspect is what made vaping completely different for me. And what keeps me buying new designs and products when what I have can accomplish the basic goals easily.

I don't know if I'm doing this right. They say add copper and mass. I also sunk in a little magnet, improves flavor by 20%.

With this set up you torch it for 5 minutes times the quarter gram amount you load.

OMG! This vapes the entire load and the device( except for the orings) in one hit.

I can definitely see the appeal.

The DynaVerse alone is a many splendored thing, and dauntingly complex. But the Waterwand is exactly what I need for dabs, right? No need for all of these stems and caps for me really.... I pretty much get high to enjoy my other hobbies which can be so expensive on their own I'm not in a hurry to have vaping go the same route.

I will likely choose a high end convection only vape in the near future, but I want the absolute best single unit I can get if I'm laying out +-$300. I still have a lot of reading to do on this front, lol.

Very well said. I s'pose if it were solely about simplicity I would only have one or two stems/rigs at my ready. I do occasionally wonder why the hell I have so many 'Dynavaps' and think of getting rid of a few but quickly think better of it lol. They're like pets.

I just flip my heater upside down to make sure it doesn’t happen. I have DynaCoils but prefer to just use cotton. It’s less prone to making a mess, easier to load, you can put a bit more in, and you use a fresh piece every time so flavor doesn’t degrade. I also find a torch to be better for concentrates in a Dynavap.

This is the first I'm hearing about this! I've never had any mess with the coil and I put pretty large dab globs in it.

I was considering switching to cotton rather than paying a DynaCoil "subscription". I should try it out and see if I find the results satisfactory.

I assume the coil has benefits due to material conductivity and geometry.

Edit - RE: torch for concentrates.

Not sure what IH you've tried.... I have an Alpine and the FTV GO.

The Alpine heats rather slowly and performs a lot like the PSM I've tried.

The FTV is much more aggressive with it's perfectly consistent super fast Li-On output. I almost want to make a video to show you the difference.

Ordered one of the new perforated caps, have always been less than enthused about the airflow on my VonG through water, hoping this turn it into a one rip bowl!

You can always put that on a stove and get temp controlled experience :D>.. or alternatively install a thermocouple like on the OG supreme.

I have recently bought a couple caps (and tips), including one in color to mate with my Revolve. I look forward to the reviews on the new porous caps...

Not sure if the link will work but @phattpiggie has a great vid of how he preps/uses his concentrates.

many people winnow from their collections

Best use of the word winnow I've heard all year. :spliff:

They have quite a deal going on right now (I just jumped on it) - when you buy an Omni at list price from them for $220, you get a FREE $200 Orion v2 Induction heater link here: The Omni & Orion v2 Induction Heater | DynaVap

They have a few other combo's with their induction heaters tossed in for free right now. I'm guessing they're about to launch a V3 or some new induction heaters, as it is about a year old, and they tend to do launches in April - but for the $, it seems too good to pass up.

I'm also a huge sucker for things that work on principles of physics, like vapcap.
Point taken, but I can't stop myself from saying the entire physical universe, yup all of it works on the principles of physics. Not just chopped cabbage, it's the slaw!

Agreed but rayon is my preference, much better for ecig wicks too.

I had a feeling someone would say that and with a name like Planck, your response doesn't surprise me! You know what I meant though, specifically regarding the cap and it's click.... which is not triggered by an electronic device/mechanic but a change in shape due to temperature.

I was just reading the wiki on Planck Length the other day....

"Planck Length - The smallest possible size for anything in the universe is the Planck Length, which is 1.6 x10-35 m across."

I often tell the ladies, "I'm a master of physics without a masters in physics". And then they laugh and mace me. 😅
