I agree in principle that we should experiment as much as possible and get familiar with our DVs--that ritual's part of the charm--and there's nothing that works better than really good technique. But I mentioned before that the low-temp cap could be the right tool for the job, and I think that's particularly true with the Ti tips: it's almost as if the normal cap is designed for the SS tip and the low-temp is designed for Ti tips. I get my best results with the standard Ti tips using the low-temp cap stock: no scorch flavor and perfectly even roast at the click. This is especially true in my more aggressive IHs. I could achieve this through technique alone, yes, and even with my individual heaters, but that's for the times when I'm consciously sitting down to time hits, try various flame heights, spin speeds, distances, but less so when I'm sitting down to watch a show, or have a hit while I hike along the path, and have other things to concentrate on.

My point is, I guess, is if you are getting scorched flavor or uneven heating with a normal pack in a Ti tip, even with good technique or well-working IH, try a low-temp cap and see if it doesn't improve your tip's everyday performance even as you develop your technique.
thanks for the post. Before making further expenses, I have bought during 2021 first omni together with apolo 2 rover IH, then after release of the new omni I bought it together with Dynatec Orion V2 IH. Between these 2 orders I got a simrell and some caps 2 dented and one old school standard. Now I am using the omni 2021 model with a standard cap heating with Orion V2. This works well but I feel that it is not the perfect setup for my DV. I am also waiting for the half bowl converter that I ordered from UK, in order to use grinded flower instead of small nugs that I use now. The new IH works very aggressively, do you think that a low temp cap will be the missing thing to a perfect DV setup? BTW I use the standard cap because I believe it works faster, I snugs firmly into the tip and you need 4 heat cycles for black AVB instead of 6 or more than the captive.

Any members with Omni 2021 model and Orion V2? Can I ask what cap you use?

I'd try it, at least. I've not tried either of those heaters, but it sounds like you like a more aggressive approach, jut not that aggressive. But if things are too fast/hot a combo of low-temp cap and pulsing, if necessary, is what I'd try.

It feels like going 2 seconds after the click in one of the quite 'soft' IH like the SJK has some signature of the high. like, super strong head effect that gives a punch, it happens also because of the lack of oxygen or something like that? Speaking about Captive cap+Ti tip+closed airport (wooden stem)

Maybe the IH is slow enough to slow-roast it thoroughly, and you're getting a more complete terp/cannabinoid profile from the first.

I've got a new favorite way to consume hash. I was having trouble finding an effective way to vape it. A chunk in the DV doesn't have enough surface area, so even at reclaim-boiling temps I'd only get thin vapor along with my blackened oven. I tried rolling it into a little snake, then pressing that around the top of a Dyna-coil, with only slightly better results.

The winning technique is to roll it out flat, ideally close to rectangular, then curl the flattened piece into a cylinder. I use a piece of 4mm stainless pipe to roll it out and to form the cylinder. Drop that into the oven so that it stands up, and it presents a huge amount of surface to absorb heat from the walls of the oven. I heat it vertically, in the bubbler, with the Ispire Wand. The result is big clouds of tasty hash vape. I like this more than any technique I've used so far, including combustion classics like hot knives or hash under glass.IMG_3881.small.JPG

I've been wondering about using hash in my M! Great tip!

I run it in advanced mode someone has definitely done this im sure keep on keeping on

Thanks. In general is there any difference in slow vs fast heating? I mean I hear the the old IH's click after 8 seconds and on the new IH after 4 seconds. Is there any difference in taste, AVB or vapor procuction?

There's a huge difference. It's like the difference between a single-flame and a quad torch. You're heating the metal, which, in turn, heats the herb in the oven. That transfer takes time. Think of it like cooking food in your oven. If you put a frozen pot-pie directly under the broiler, you'll burn the top before the inside is even thawed. But if you follow the directions, put it on a cookie sheet to diffuse heat from below, it will cook slowly and evenly.

In other words, with a rapid heating IH you'll scorch the sides and top before the center is cooked. So, yes, you'll get different taste, ABV, and vapor. You'll taste the scorch and the ABV may be uneven, which means you'll be leaving some vapor in the oven. I've been surprised that Dynavap touts the rapid heat times of their IHs as a desirable feature while they've always held up the single-flame as the most effective torch choice.

Low and slow is the way to go:

You don't need as hot a flame as he's using, nor the distance he's using to compensate. But his technique (and groove) is spot on. A half-inch inner flame, outer flame kissing the lower third of your cap, keep it spinning, should have a nice, even, full hit on click. The low-temp cap can help even out your Ti-tip roast as well, by taking you up to the line of full-roasting and stopping you there.

Hey man very explanatory. So if you were at home and had the new omni with DV Apollo 2 Rover IH & newest Orion V2 IH you would have chosen heat with the old Apollo 2. And further you grind the material, if you slow heat it, is it better?

as I mentioned before, going 2 seconds after the second click, Ti tip, squeezed Captive cap, low weight wooden edstnt gr8 stem, perfect ABV (full load) :
