This thing with short downstem for some reason  Worth asking for proper one?

Speaking of ash-catchers and keeping in spirit with the thread, I busted out the old $15 5-arm (x 3-slit) tree perc ash-catcher/j-hook "bubbler"... smooooth (a little too smooth, in fact):

3 colorful caps of Cornbread and 3 uniform shades of brown... which one do you prefer? It's all within your control and couldn't be easier. Pass-through USB-C 3.0 amp charging is a beautiful thing (with a 6' cord)...!

Edit: and here's the entire 11 "man" crew ready to go:

Most paid out of pocket piece...? The $88.60 Goo Roo Glass 'Welded Tater Tot' was $2.60 more than their '3-piece bubbler with removable downstem".

There is something inspiring about the ISpire and I think I would be a customer if I didn't already have 2 Pipes IHs. The temp control is very attractive as I think a slower heat up may be a good thing.

It looks like you have thrown a M to M on your GooRoo 3 piece so that you could use that fat mouthpiece stem with it. While I love the GooRoo mouthpiece, I often use a different MP as well to get a little further away from the piece for a better view. My 2 GooRoo pieces are also the most expensive pieces I have other than a recycler that I rarely use.

I've spent a lot of time playing around with different heating methods and ultimately ALWAYS go back to low and slow heating. Even with torches, I ditch the triple torch for a single every time... I am sure it is subjective, but it seems to me to produce a better heat soak, longer draws and more complete extraction.

I do an infinite spin, focusing the torch on the lowest possible portion of the cap.

No doubt a lighter gives you the most control and I do tend to use them when out of the house, tho now with a PSM that does sometimes go out with me. But at home I rarely use the torch cause my IHs are so fucking easy. I would like to turn down the PSM a little tho, and adding the flat switch cover that Pipes sent me may well do that. I'll have to see over time...

I hate that I NEVER use my Portside mini... something about it dulls my click and makes it not noticeable, making temp control a total fucking gamble. All my caps are double-click caps, and sometimes I can slightly feel the first click, but more often than not, all clicks go unnoticed. :puke:

For me, the only real benefit to IH's are really the aesthetics- how much easier it is to maintain the finish on your cap if you never torch it.

Not a problem I have experienced. I can't help but wonder of your crimp has opened up some and your tip is preventing your click, tho I imagine you have tried this with more than one cap. The switch on the PSM does take a little more pressure than it could. It's a mystery...

Added: I suppose another related possibility is if your cap is dented in a little reducing the click space when any pressure is put on it.

I have a SourceVapes Alpine '21 and a Pipes HotShot... the iSpire is a different animal... different from any other IH I've seen. And remember, this thing was never designed to run a dynavap, not in the slightest... they had absolutely no clue.

first off, the "oven" is a bottomless hole.... which means you decide where on the tip you want to heat it, not some stupid momentary switch and whatever else you throw in there with it...

next, because the oven area is much wider in diameter, you can easily spin a tip while heating. Does spinning a tip in an IH even DO anything...? I think it may, but I'm still not 100% sure...

third, and a big one for me, is that I usually use the wand much like sparking a bowl with a regular old Bic lighter, heating the tip whilst drawing (and spinning, if I want).... I start pulling when I start seeing the first wisps of vapor and then just watch it build...and stop when I choose.... the clicks themselves are really nothing more than a rough guide at this point.

Afaik, despite the marketing, there is no actual measured "temp control", per se, just profiles that are supposedly fairly accurate.

and on top of that (I know you don't do trates) it actually handles concentrates pretty nicely for a "portable" electric.... way better than any dab pen-like device I've ever used. And certainly way less cracky than using a torch ALL THE TIME.

just because it's an IH, it does not make it the same or even similar, as anything else on the market.

is it for "everyone" with a DV...? No, I wouldn't say so... too much variabIlity as it stands out-of-the-box today.

As for the Goo Roo 3-piece mp... pictured it's on the Dabbing Warehouse bubbler and the 3-piece is using the Sticky Brick Hydro Maxx mp with an 18mm male to 18mm male adaptor. As I've whined about it before, even being a hair under 6' tall, the Goo Roo with its stock mp stands a little too high for me to comfortably sit at for any length of time at desk height... plus I also like to be a little further away, like you, too...

Second that emotion. I'm getting really tired of folks talking like all IHs are created equal. Some have much more aggressive heating profiles than others. And barring finding a sweet spot that works great for you in a non-adjustable model (the HotSpot for me hits that perfect sweet spot; @Pipes has real expertise here and it shows), it is nice to have adjustability options, especially those on the fly (so not adding lil discs as spacers). So the Wand offers this, as does the currently-on-hiatus Flite and other PWM models from Fluxer.

I almost purchased one of the above a while back until I read all the negative reviews on it...do you actually own and use it @oldfool ?
I have one, @LesPlenty, and I love the cyclone, but I don't use it. It is a hard pull, and while it looks cool, I can't see it, and I gave up on hunting down M-G demanding an audience to tell me how awesome it is. "Love the cyclone " is conceptual, more than anything. I desperately wanted that piece, finally got it ( half off, whoo!), used it, shelved it. For actual use, it's like sucking up a grapefruit through a straw. You really have to get a good pull to move that water.
On the other hand, I could be wrong. Maybe I have pitiful lungs. Now I'm tempted by the price, and might need a second one so the first won't get lonely. 🤔

I only now noticed that this link forces you to purchase a hundred unfortunately... Might be worth messaging them to try to get just one, the function video is pretty good, seems pretty nice and unique, I think it is actually a mug so you can put a drink in it to further chill the vapor wall it bubbles and recycles a bit below and on the sides?? Turn any vape into a Tafée Bowle!

Figured a few of you might be interested so I'd give it a shot, my first evah (dys)function vid...

The Goo Roo Welded Tater Tot with a new-ish Omni Ti tip, Captive Cap, Ole Stubby stem and iSpire "The Wand" set to 1 out of 4 in "flower" mode:

And I went with the stock 9-hole downstem perc on the left out of the selection that fits:

Sorry, it was slipping away from me... the next will be better if I dare try, I promise!

Apparently, I "won" my dispute over the rattle-less "26cm Tall Diffusion Pump Bubbler", even tho they can't view imgur vids... which is kinda creepy. I guess the pics were good enough... We went back and forth a few times and Jane tried to say that everyone asks to make the hole smaller... I just told her it's sealed and then filed a dispute (I didn't want to argue anymore, it was obvious) and they immediately agreed to a replacement. Honestly, I could've won a couple of other disputes but I never bothered and really didn't want the sellers to lose $, so I figured out a way to live with it, but this was too much.... what's the point of putting a bead there if it doesn't friggin' DO anything...? Sorry, but zero QC is unacceptable...

Hopefully the new one is a little more holey.
Nice, easy to do before you release the payment, I already released the payment with mine so I feel like there's nothing to do unfortunately... I feel like the replacement could also be hole less so I am curious what you receive, I have resigned myself to just having the pump without the rattle, but yeah kind of shitty... Making the hole smaller, so small that they got rid of it entirely?? Jane reply to me about the black marks from the welding too, and offered me the 5% off next time since I missed out on the sale, but yeah I feel like there's no point in me telling her that mine is missing the hole now as well...
Still worth a try, might get lucky?

So I decided to reach out after all, Jane told me that they used to have a larger hole at the bottom, they got a lot of feedback saying to make it smaller... Seems like perhaps mine may have a tiny hole, not just a dimple, but either way the ball does not move in mine either, basically stuck to the bottom... So Jane said she would send me a new one from the next batch, hopefully they can get it right again with the proper rattle can function! The diffusion pump part itself is nice, but I am curious how it will be with everything working as intended... All around pretty great customer service from Steven/ PopularGlass for me so far!!

And as long as I'm posting (no I will not feel bad about mentioning my shipping, you guys went plenty off topic with your vapcap talk!:p) I'll say that my SunshineStore order finally got to New York it seems! So hopefully I will have that this week, need that female to female adapter to use the Yingmin footed hook, not to mention the two heady male rigs that are enroute...

I have the Steven version of this, just the main can with the circ perc, and a similar mouthpiece, that I never liked because the flaring is so big and it's quite thin, packed away somewhere...
Hadn't noticed, but you are correct, it's thinner than most of my other China glass.

I guess you have a lot of water in it? I never experienced the leaking you described
That is what I was thinking, just enough to cover the perc (sometimes a little more if the gear is rough on the throat) for me.
I was using too much water, doubly so with the ash catcher. It still leaks when water gets in the mouthpiece, but it's nothing a hand-towel base doesn't solve.

I am usually using mine with a hydrotube, or an alternative mouthpiece... I actually posted a few modular pieces recently, like this and this and a lot of people here rely on the FC-UFO... Any other ash catcher can be added to what you have already too, other hydrotubes and cooling mouthpieces, the options are endless!
I have an unbranded one of those, the headshow perc (or is it a showerhead or a flowerhead?) is good but the Matrix isn't very good so I wondered if the Sheldon Black downstems https://sheldonblack.com/collections/all/downstem
Or the 29mm Elev8 downstem https://www.elev8glassgallery.com/downstem-19mm-female-to-29mm-male-showerhead/
are compatible to replace the matrix?
Altho the easiest choice is to just buy another headshow one from Popularglass or a standard slotted one from dhgate or aomewhere.
I would think if the measurements line-up, those downstems should be interchangeable with ours.

I am just using the showerhead perc. Haven't needed the ash-catcher because it's so easy to clean.

I like this, is it any good?
It's my primary piece right now. It's a great daily driver if you're particular about clean glass. My rattle can (which has working function) is more fun to use, but it's a pain to keep spotless.

I'm a little surprised, but glad they took care of it. Maybe she had a look in here and saw how prodigiously you post... ;)

Haha yeah, I don't know if they knew it was me here, but I have been quite cordial with them and did release the money fairly quick too, also was complimentary when they were so helpful and fast to respond before I even ordered... I suppose I may have built up a pretty good relationship with them!

That certainly never hurts, especially when you need something. I know many don't like Steven's stuff that much but I have generally been happy with them. But I also am not a perfectionist and will usually accept some flaws that don't effect performance.
I love their tendency to use heavy glass so it was a surprise when you mentioned that their multipart piece was so thin.

My Yingmin5 Rattlecan came with a rattle that didn't, and another user encouraged me to get a replacement which I did.

Likewise, the FC-Mod is the only other piece I have from them, but I was very satisfied especially since they let me buy it without the ash catcher and only the circ perc shower head... Also just to clarify, it is only the mouthpiece on that one that is thin glass, the rest is super thick, and I hate the mouthpiece for other reasons lol

Ah nice, yeah if they had the gooseneck mouthpiece I may have gone with them honestly, but both are solid shops to me!

Pics and thoughts on the Saml Beehive bubbler by popularglass:

I like it quite a bit... the glass is thick enough, though it would be nice if it were thicker. It fits really nicely in the hand/fist, and just feels good in a sherlock-y way. The 13-hole perc (one larger one out the bottom) does a fine job in such a small amount of water. I like the mp even though it's a little twisted, but the tube's pretty straight... I call it a snakehead, it has good mouth feel... feels kinda like a pipe, but good! And a big enough hole that doesn't add any restriction... really easy to get big pulls.

What else that's cool, if you don't put a lot of water in you can just lay it down on a table and it wont spill:
