I remember when the LE 7-fins were released some were disappointed they weren't exactly like the old ones and had tapered fins. I also vaguely remember seeing an explanation that the old design wasn't particularly production-friendly... something like the metal shavings not easily/reliably clearing out from between the fins so they required babysitting. Does that sound familiar to anyone?

I thought it might have been the LEs that caused the production problems, but it was some time ago. Some of the fans of the original 7fin begged DV to go back to it, but George thought that was moving backwards and other than the LE run that had 7 fins AND some improvements, George just continued on with the 5 fins. I still like the LE quite alot.

I find it VERY hard to believe that 5 fin vs. 7 fin or other minutiae made substantive performance differences in the real world. I'm new to Dyanvap and only have used the 2020 M. I was intrigued by the device because of this forum and the quantity of posts....so I took the plunge. My thinking was that this is an excellent 'backup' device to my battery powered vape. I found that this is really an interesting manual/analog device that is very well engineered. Not only that....the device provides excellent effects and is HIGHLY efficient. I like it....a lot. I don't always have the privacy required to enjoy the Dynavap.....but I'm glad to use it when I can.

I love all the fanaticism surrounding the DynaUniverse...its great....seriously great. I do occasionally have to laugh at the amount of geekdom that surrounds seemingly minute changes in stems, tips, and parts/pieces.....but it is cool nonetheless that folks put so much thought into customizations.

7fin>7finLE>squared5fin>rounded 5fin

Hell, I still use my ogM tip more than any of the newer ss tips. But when I reach for a ti, it has 7 fins. My daily that I keep in a dynastash is a ss lined wooden stem with the 7finLE.

Your wife is lovely...divine. Her impatience is one of her virtues. Blessed you are.

I purchased a Ti tip to go with my Purple Heart Vortex Stem I got in a trade. The Ti tip arrived today and I have to wait for the Purple Heart to arrive before I have have that set-up that I’ve heard and seen so much about. I could wait so I put the tip on my 2020 M body and I am having a great time with it and my new PSM.

What do you guys think? It’s been great with the chiral airports. Plus, I think it looks like a strange Omni or something.

@SomnusViduus what Dynavap are you using your low temp cap with?
I just got a low temp cap with the Balck Friday bundle. I like it a lot with the right heat source but it’s a captive cap so I only see it working well for the 2020 M tip. Maybe there are other tips that work well with the captive cap (out at the time of this post) that work well with the captive cap. The PSM seems to give a low temp hits with the 2020 tip and regular cap.
I used the 2020 M with low temp cap with a Caldron IH and liked it a lot but then used it in a PSM and found that it was not as fantastic from the less aggressive heat up from the PSM. I’m not using my low temp cap as much as I thought as I would from me using my new PSM more often.

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
The most important characteristic of any DV tip for me is airflow. I do notice some other differences, but they are subtle to me. Through the years, the airflow has improved greatly. My second gen tips are like sucking marbles through a bar straw. My favorite are the 19M tips. I like the slower heat up of SS over Ti, and the 19's have very nice airflow.

I have some strange 7 fins. A few seconds that George once sent me. One tip has such a wide first ridge on the o-ring end that you can't fit it into many stems. It would need to be ground down, but I don't want to fuck with it.

Spot on with your flow dynamics.

The first tips were like “straw sips of a thick milkshake” variety; the draw
Became greatly enhanced with the deeper/larger aggressive spiral grooves, of subsequent tips.

Some owners filed down the spiral ends on the top to further enhance the air flow.

And the seven fins helped improve the cooling process.

Because of these changes, and its pleasing looks, the 4th Gen tip became popular, and collectible. :2c:
Also, as noted above, DV no longer made seven fin tips, and pragmatically introduced the 5 fins, thereafter.
—As the supply of 7 fins dwindled, the demand shot up.

(donno why the left justified 3rd Gen anomaly tip was not liked as much, unless it too was flow restrictive)

Hey, it’s Finally Friday!

There's no link on the email (also got it)
It says: to sign up, head to Dynavap.com during the sign up period and look for an announcement at the top of the main website page.
