The simrell is a one trick pony and only does the trick without using wpa.

The shellshock has adjustable airflow so well, it's definitely more then a 1 trick pony since it can be set between 100% closed or 100% open

I wish my assassin has adj airflow then I can set it to spin the simrell intercooler all the time

I have the simrell and I love it, when my shellshock comes in we will compare it.
I am sure it's amazing! Especially the vortex, I am only using the shellshock with no comparison....price is a HUGE factor if I am buying anything dynavap.

Does the intercooler spinning makes the Assassin more efficient than the Vortex stem?

A case of The tool dictating the design :(

Awhile ago found these neat alum tubes that are perfect for an M xl (w/ mouthpiece ) or a Ti omni xl. They have a silicone gasket..I tested them for waterproof...100% positive havent for smell yet, but should be sim.

The issue is tube has a wierd OD That no drill or end mill will fit. So drill to 3/8 and use a Taig boring bar. Its reach is only .75", thus all the segments. Havent yet found a long boring bar that will fit lathe...prob not goin to make many of these. Thesecare cherry. Will post pic ehen completed thsnks for looking

Are you filling the bowl with just kief? This thought crossed my mind the other day but i figured it might just end up gunking up the condenser.

I don't know how goldenbud does it, but in my experience putting a little bit of bud in first goes a long way. It keeps the bowl cleaner; as well as the screen, and the area behind the screen. The flavor profile may change a bit though

So on these shellshocks, can you dial in the air intake to the point where you don't need to finger the carb hole at all?

Does this question make sense? I'd like a little cooling action, but I hate having to locate an airport on a stem. Sort of like a cruise control.

Does it mean the vapor is better (taste or effects)?
not necessarily since the tip/cap are the actual items that produce vapor, too much marketing on the simrell vortex and 420vapezone telling everyone this is a lambo vs a lexus vs a civic, which I disagree 100% and leads to alotta discussions exactly like this. I even did a thread on reddit and can tell you like 75% of ppls comments were regurgitated stuff they have heard/seen but have never truly experienced it themselves.

Simrell vortex does not improve anything flavor/tastes/effects only thing it does better is cool the vapor free hand, anything else you can mimic it with another stem.

Thank for your answer. But I meant: does the Assassin stem, paired with a Vortex intercooler produce better (coolness, flavor, effects) vapor than the Vortex stem, paired with the same intercooler?
If I sum up what you said, I guess your answer would be that the flavor and effects are the same (as they depend on the tip and the cap), and that the Assassin stem is better at cooling the vapor (due to spinnig intercooler). Am I right?

Drug thanks. Are those three o rings just spares or do they fit somewhere? You just put the bits in iso (or similar) to clean like the stock stem?

It is a bit less restrictive airflow than the 2019 M, which I like. Not that the latter is that restrictive though

The o-rings are spares, the stem uses one o-ring where the dial ring is placed. Before first use I cleaned mine with an alcohol wipe. As for more thorough cleaning, I will probably give it an iso bath, though I'm not gonna soak the o-ring in it.

To be fair: if I remember correctly Troy / 420Vapezone admitted in his Vortex review that he was heavily biased because of his friendship with the maker – but yeah, I absolutely agree that there's a lot of marketing going on on how a stem can improve vapor quality, and I also agree that the actual magic still happens in the tip and the cap.

What those stems do offer though is variety, and that's something I really enjoy. I do think that small details (size, air port, condenser / no condenser, material) can affect the experience. I guess anyone understands without even trying that for example a Turbo Twist gives a different experience from the M. But to say that the experience or even vapor quality is better per se is just nonsense. In case of the Vortex it actually did put me off after my initial curiosity.

After switching parts back and forth on a few different M's I found that any restriction issues were generally within the tips (YMMV). I have a few second gen tips which I'll keep as museum pieces, but the air restriction was awful.

@thunderstealer1337, Do you notice a difference in cooling between the assassin and the shellshock?

The main thing the vortex has going for it is aesthetics—it’s a sleek, beautiful shape, and feels good to hold. I bought one last year, on sale, based on the hype, but find I don’t use It any more than any other stem. Whether the aesthetics are worth the price is a highly individual decision.
