butter your wood
Hi all, long term lurker, first time poster. Can anyone pm me the method to change the temp of my tinymight? Mine has been sitting on a shelf gathering dust cos even with it turned to 10, I can only get my bud to a golden colour compared to the black that 10 used to turn it. I've emailed them a couple of times over the last month as I suspect I've changed the temp when zooted by mistake and am still to get a reply. I'm so frustrated with it, I would sell it if I didn't think I was selling a lemon. Failing that, I guess I'll have to wait for them to finally answer a goddamn email...
Hey dude, did you find a solution for this? My Tinymight seems to be having the same problem...stem gets hot, but bud only goes slightly yellow.

It arrived today and I only got 3 bowls through it before this started

TastyCakeWasTasty,
So jackpods will fit but you will have to sand down the bottom part of the lid cap. Just lay the lid cap on super fine sand paper and give it about ten circular rotations and they should start fitting into the stem like the guys youtube video that was posted. worked for mine.

When this occurs, if in on-demand, does it vibrate earlier by a few seconds than when it would normally work?
Hard to be sure, I’ve literally used it for maybe 30 minutes total.
Right now it’s about 4-6 seconds to buzz from cold and 2 seconds when ‘warm’.

Well, don't I feel sheepish. Thanks for correcting my ignorance.

I dunno, I've used the rice trick a few times as well as those DO NOT EAT silica packets. It does work, it is not an urban myth, but sure there are better options out there if you are prepared. If you can control the flow and heat from a hair dryer then more power to you, but that can also damage the circuitry as well. I think you took the best possible route as immediate action, and I think the result goes to show that!

Pasted from linked page:

“Over the past year, I've amassed quite the collection of corrosion damage photos. This corrosion is mostly from phones that got wet, then got tossed into rice. The more time that ticks by without actually trying to remove the water and subsequent corrosion, the worse the problem becomes. While the problem may have originated in dropping the phone in water, it is magnified many times over when you do something silly, like toss it in rice.”

and....

“Damaging by wasting time perhaps. The moment water with an electrolyte in it (virtually any water source you'd actually drop your phone in) enters your phone and comes in contact with dissimilar metals (there's somewhere around 15 different types of metal in the phone), corrosion begins to grow immediately. Add electricity (the battery or plugging it in before it's dry) or more electrolytes (ocean vs lake) and the speed at which the corrosion grows increases.

Corrosion, not water is the actual reason a wet phone stops working. There is NO desiccant that can remove corrosion, let alone water. That's right, I said a desiccant cannot force water out of the phone. Desiccants absorb water from the air, or that it's in close proximity (ie, touching) with. When water is inside an aluminum and glass box (ie, a phone), there is no amount of silica gel or rice or kitty litter that is going to "make" the water come out.

Eventually, the water evaporates and exits the phone. A true desiccant will then absorb this water. This is a moot point because the corrosion left inside the phone is the true killer/problem."

and....

“Thanks. Finally. Someone who has a brain. You can keep rice in a humid environment and the rice will still be hard. Water means mold. This is why rice is able to last practically forever in a box.”

You decide. There are a lot more sites and articles from electronics experts, saying the same thing.

I had a similar problem where it wouldn’t heat up enough to vape, but got the stem hot. I tried replacing a known good battery, cleaning the screen, CU, etc, to no avail. One thing that has consistently worked, as crazy as it sounds, was giving the TM a good shake, making sure to hold it firmly in my hand. Not sure what it effectively did, but seems to work for me when this issue occurs.

Thanks for sharing it!
The Tinymight definitely grew on me after I got over my faulty one!
Troy, you need my mod screen:

Thanks for posting man.

How much of a shake are we talking? I don’t want to do anything drastic to it as I may be sending it back to the person I bought it from.

I’m wondering though, if shaking it solves your problem, could the issue be with the heater’s coil? Shaking it would maybe be releasing any parts of the coil that were stuck or too close together?

Would parts of the coil touching each other cause ‘cold-spots’ or reduced performance? I think I read similar in the Lil’ bud/elite thread.

This is getting off-topic to this thread but those are some very flaky thoughts :) Keeping rice in a humid environment ruins the rice, because it absorbs the humidity. Corrosion is one thing, existing humidity and moisture is another. Salt water will quickly corrode, but toilet water, in most cases, will not, and an additional fear with the latter is possible short circuiting which can obviously also destroy the device.

I was surprised to find some actual scientific studies out there on rice as a desicant, such as https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/14992027.2016.1253877 Obviously this isn't the best option to take, but I argue that short of being able to completely disassemble whatever device got wet and dry off each part, shaking out the excess water and trying to reduce the relative humidity of a wet device with rice is definitely an option.

Anyway, back on the topic of the TM, there's one vibration scenario I can't figure out. Is there an auto-off when in on-demand mode? Sometimes I forget to finish my bowl, come back to the TM which is still flashing off and on, but as soon as I press the button it does one long buzz, the light goes off, and then it buzzes a few pulses (like the battery status) and then stays in the off state. I can power it back on with three quick presses and in some instances the battery life is 3, and I can continue my bowl just fine (so I know the battery isn't dead).

Just for fairness, for this whole video he was arguing against the position that rice will fix a device that's ALREADY CORRODED. When no one is saying that..... the position he needs to debate is if rice can prevent CORROSION from occurring in the first place.

What this is, is a perfect text book example of what a "straw-man" argument is.

Probably the worst video I've ever seen.

Well then you haven't tried calcium chloride... this dessicant will literally pull water out of anything. If you let it sit in the open air it will soon turn into a puddle as it sucks the moisture out of the air.... put some in a sealed container with the thing you want to dry, and it will dry the fuck out of it.

Mine are 1.29g. And judging by what you wrote yours seem to tame the heat by a fair amount as well.

Edit: forgot to share a pic of the (non-disposable) JPs →

I just bought these, unfortunately mine don't fit in the stem (only barely). I think the variations in the glass of the stem might be the problem.

I'm going to try to sand the pods down a bit.

So be aware, the pods don't always fit.

Where did you get these? Mine don’t have threads

I received my TM 7/23/20. I realized the haptic buzz was not working correctly. It would buzz when turned on, buzz the first time the button was pushed but often not buzz after that. I sent an email to TM on 7/26. I sent another email 8/2 when the haptic buzz totally stopped working. I have still not heard from the company. I understand there is no warranty but my unit was defective upon arrival. I will follow up with another post if I hear anything. I am concerned that the company is pumping out vapes with no ability to provide support to their customers.
I received an email reply from David at TM today, 8/15 saying to send it for repair. I will be shipping it 8/17. I will follow up with results so that those concerned will know how long of a turnaround to expect.

Wait he answered you?? How long did you wait? I’m checking every day for an answer for like a month now haha

As far as how you dry “wet” electronics do whatever you like, I shouldn’t have wasted my time!

On the contrary, I appreciated yours and @badbee 's feedback. The rice thing was something I never questioned honestly, and at very least I should have done my own research, which I didn't do, in my panic.

Having a bad day I guess. My sincere apologies for the MISREPRESENTATION- it was computer problems and I blame Steve Jobs and Bill Gates (may their dark souls burn in hell). Unfortunately I can no longer edit the post to remove the offense!   but I'm sure a mod can fix it.

Your initial reply was smart, hard to debate science and facts, though some will always search out alternative facts. Pose the “rice” question on the EEVBlog, a forum like this full of electronics experts, and be open for an education.
