Discontinued The Grasshopper

Things like this amaze me. The only glass piece I have is a small knock off pnp hydratube and the few times I've tried it with my Hopper I haven't gotten good results at all, hardly getting any vapor. Even though natively my GH can create huge clouds....some kind of draw restriction issue maybe?...
Smaller pieces like the PNWT are better suited to cool and tame native tokes, whilst a beaker or tube can properly fill up over a 15-30 second rip.
I can't say I enjoy the smaller pieces so much, I made a post a couple of weeks ago in an effort to help people make a good glass selection, which could interest you?

Oh dear! Had my hoppers since June 20th and it seems my Ti just crapped out last night. Ive had the cop lights of doom indicating sensor damage. Will rest it up today and try again tomorrow but its not looking good

Luckily I have my unused S/S as backup

Been looking for a "tip extender" to make it more comfortable to use the grasshopper, anyone else here tried to use a 14mm female to male gong? because I am looking at a 14mm female to 10mm male but sure I saw an 8mm male option somewhere on DHGATE but its around 5 bucks and often with shipping

I have had a lot of time to buy accessories for the grasshopper :/

Wonder if I should call him Waldo because he's always hiding ...

Had it on the table the other day and my brother came over and never noticed it. Too funny.

Working great out at the coffee shop. No one bats an eye when it's just chillin in my book. As soon as they step inside it gets a nice long hit. :)

Nice pic!

Looks like it's time to take the gh off your wish list and add it to your in use list. Am I right?

Totally forgot! Thank you sir.

I'm getting random hot backend and the power suffers when it's happening. Trying to tackle it by tracking all variables of when it does and doesn't happen, and I can hopefully pinpoint a (or few) cause. I wipe the threads down but haven't done a full cleaning yet, only been two days of use. We'll see.

I don't bring my batteries down all the way and I rarely go above 4 and try not to pull for too long to overwhelm the unit. Been baby-ing it for sure. Also slow charge my batteries on a D4.

I find the backend is warmer the closer the battery is to dead/empty. I wonder if you will find the same thing (a cool backend with a fresh, fully charged battery).

Well, that's subjective...I like mine better than all my other vapes in pretty much every criteria other than reliability, but I am in the minority there, obviously.

Not sure if we're in the minority but I'm definitely in your party!

Can you just click to activate the hopper, take 2-3 puffs, turn it down, hide it in your pocket and do zhe same thing with 2h later?

Or do you have to vape the whole load in one?

I usually temp step from about 2 up to 5 in the course of a few hits until the flavor is gone. I almost never finish a bowl in one sitting, usually take a rip or two and then another in 30 minutes or so

Been using my GH through water with the Silicone and 18mm Male. Makes a pretty damn good seal, but! I already lost my Silicone... I think it was on my lap and I stood up and launched it out of my car or something, I have no clue honestly. I have no way to use this through water now. I either wait for a new silicone to get here, or I go down to the headshop down the road and get a 18mm to 14mm male adapter, and use the GH native through a 14mm Male. Does that make a perfect seal? Seems like some air would get through?

I would head to a hardware store with the GH and a 14mm or 18mm female ended adapter and try on various O-rings (the kind of thick black rubber ones) until you see what the GH mates with. It's a very cheap option and there's so many sizes that it's almost impossible not to find something that'll work, especially given the shape and size of the hopper. IME I would be wary of putting anything metal or glass into a ground glass joint that isn't meant to fit in there--it's so easy to get little chips off the glass that way, and they cut into your skin easily.

got a new body and it works even better than before. Now it registers a slow draw which my old unit never did. Seems like my old one was broken all the time and I didn't notice or they improved it maybe. Oh god and I dropped the GH with the new body two times which never happened with the old one. Still going strong tho but the frontend had to be bend round again and scratches will stay. Did I officialy void my warranty now?

it's my favorite vape but I didn't have much success with concentrates compared to my muad'dib. It somehow doesn't get as cloudy as with the muad'dib using the same amount. Maybe I need to fill more?

edit: error of old body was that it showed almost immediately blue lights but didn't heat up

A tip was posted in here a few months ago for free silicone tips. Go to your local e-cig/vapor shop. They usually have disposable silicone sleeves for tasting. They would probably give you a few for free or a dollar or two at the most. These stretch over the mouthpiece of the hopper and should provide a better seal. I use both of my hoppers native with 14mm female and have no problem with it sealing, I like to use a Delta 3D Studios silicone reducer with 18mm joints.

Not sure if the black o-rings at the hardware store (neoprene, some) are okay at higher temps, so proceed with caution there. Hopper's mouthpiece gets really hot when on high temp for any length of time.

I have silicone tubing that I use for water setup, whip, etc. and as I recall, it's okay for temps over 450 F.
The tubing fits very tight on Hopper's mouthpiece, (tubing is 7/16"o.d and 5/16"i.d., could be bigger and work better, but...). I push it tight onto mouthpiece, then cut it off with scissor right at the tip of the Hopper (or longer for just mouthpiece extension). Inexpensive replacement for the condom.
The fit is snug inside 14mm female glass, but it doesn't project into the fitting far, so is wobbly and needs a hand to hold it. If tubing were bigger, fit would be better on mouthpiece and better be suited to 18mm female glass.

But to kinda circle back, for water use, I mostly use Hopper native with either a 14mm Hydratube or 14mm female adapter on water piece, just keep it all clean, etc.

It's a good thing I posted that before I used it. It hit me harder than a dab. I literally couldn't type for an hour afterwards.

I used a sativa dominant hybrid. It felt like I drank six shots of espresso at once, I had so much energy pulsing through my veins. I couldn't keep me arms and hands still, making typing impossible.

It was the third hit that put me over the edge. It was my third time using both hoppers simultaneously and I was using three vapes at the same time so it seemed to make sense to take three hits. :science:

I actually got the effects I was looking for, just a higher dosage than needed. This would be great with a strong indica for pain or insomnia.

Proceed with caution! :worms:

Thanks for the good, cheap water adapter ideas guys. I decided to take a look around the parking lot when I pulled up today, and ended up finding it! Right between two cars. What are the chances?? GH gods have performed a gracious act, me thinks?

I've started to believe there are Ganja Gods and they have been ever watchful and protective. They bless my transactions and keep me safe.

Hello all,

I'm about to pull the trigger on a Blue Ti GH...I'm in Canada though so warranty returns are usually expensive for me and other Canadians. Is there still some frequent issues with the GH or are the latest models free of defects and issues down the line?
I'm also debating getting a second GH...or getting another different vape. I like variety though so I'm not sure...
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated :)

The new batteries may or may not rule out a number of issues. If they have better QC to ensure battery lengths are within appropriate tolerances to make good contact with both terminals inside the unit, this will rule out some issues with hot back end. Better QC to ensure that only adequately performing batteries are sold to end users and those that do not make the cut are disposed of or recycled may also be here with the new batteries. We don't really know though. Wouldn't it be great if someone from HL was on FC?

AFAIK we don't have very clear information on which specific issues have been resolved nor what any respective fix has been from HL.

I want to see a DC power adapter that allows for battery-free operation made for the unit so that we can begin to test all of these units with the Grasshopper's notoriously inconsistent batteries (this is based on my experience with many batteries, the GHB1 model - I have not used GHB2 batteries) removed from the equation. This would help users diagnose whether their problem lies with the battery or the unit itself. This would also give the hopper more use as an at-home driver (this thing is just not very smooth on the mouth/throat for direct draw use and this makes limited battery life and frequent battery changes a PITA if we use the hopper where it shines - huge rips through water).

Agreed!! Hopefully the GHL Phase 2 plan includes this.

I've been finding it difficult to get my herb as dark as I'd like. I rarely go to 5 so that's probably why, but even puffing 4.5 until no vapor production does not yield as dark of abv as the flavor seems to tell me...

This is from 4.5:
qbET113.jpg

I think it tastes darker than it looks because I spend a lot of time on low temps, which suck out all the resins and terpenes. Still doesn't really explain why I can't get it darker than this at 4.5?
