No. In fact, I would expect to be privy to these modifications beforehand to buying it because then I know I'm not falling for another one of these exercises in marketing.

I to don't want to seem like I'm coming down to fast, but there is that old saying; if it looks like a duck, smells like a duck and walks like a duck, then it's probably a duck. And right now all I am seeing is duck and non sequiturs. So if you want to convince anyone this is something new, then your going to need to show us the goods, and unless you signed an NDA saying otherwise, 7th floor would probably be glad to get this issue cleared up as fast as possible.

I'm sure they own a patent for these totally new, in house developed modifications that have never been used before in any other vaporizer right? So what should they fear?

mtnchld, while I appreciate your concern about sharing proprietary information because of your relationship with 7th Floor, one does have to question that if that is truly a concern, why did you post up here that you have one of their VIP's in the first place, knowing full well the questions that would follow?

While one post here was clearly out of line, I don't think questioning someones intentions, or a companies intentions, for that matter, is treating anyone like an asshole.

This forum, if anything, is a source of information that others find extremely useful, but for those sources to remain valid, I don't see anything wrong with questioning that validity when that validity comes into question. There IS a way to do that without being an asshole or treating someone like one.

Earlier in the thread you posted this

If they're available in shops, to the general public, then why aren't you talking about it? If they didn't want anyone to know about it, they wouldn't have put them out in shops in CO... I'm confused as to whether you're testing it, or you bought it at a shop and don't want to talk about it for whatever reason.

If you think one guy talking about epeen growing noobs is being an asshole... you've been on some of the kindest websites on the WWW. There's SO much worse said to each other even in other vaporizer/cannabis forums. We're an inquisitive bunch, and like Cent said, smells, looks, tastes like something, it probably is. Then again we're going off of the pictures that 7th F posted, and none of mtnchld (because s/he hasn't posted any.)

Well, it looks like they finally released it at 115.00 price point.

This is an open request to Chris from 7th Floor.

Chris, can you please come in here and explain to us how this vape is different from the Atmos, which looks identical to yours. We really need to know what the difference is.

SSV Chris has moved on to work on his own enterprise, and first love, Media.
He may check back in here at a later time.

I would be happy to try to answer your questions lwien, since I have been doing this testing.
I don't have the Atmos here any longer, when done with the testing and R&D I returned my 1st one, and my production model went to a local patient.
The outside may look similar, but the inside is not.
The Atmos is indentical (down to the packaging) to a widely sold Chinese Pen called "SonicCone"
VIP device has a SS spring coil inside of a ceramic bowl.
It is similar to the Heating element of the SonicCone Vape Pen and the Atmos, but has more tensile strength, and is SS rather than whatever the greyish metal coil spring is in the others.
The other obvious difference is the battery, which besides it's obvious aesthetic aspects, uses a digital window, easy to read and see power level, and the battery outlasted the Atmos by triple. (Atmos Battery done in a day, the VIP battery lasted 3.5 days.

    *edit-
One other BIG difference is the "ceramic honeycomb disc" that 7th floor is about to release with the VIP. Currently successfully vaporizing herb with various flat round "button-like" discs that slip right into the chamber between the herb and bottom coil, this seems to be the answer that the other pen makers have ignored, and 7th floor did not.

Thank you Vitolo  you were the one that convinced me the oil kit for the Buddha would be the bomb and now i am excited for this pen. i admit i was worried as it looked so much like the ATMOS that i heard so many bad things about. but if you say you have seen and tried it and there are different things going on... i will believe you. your post in the other thread hinted that it is better for oils than dry herbs right now and i don't need another oil pen. so i will wait and see how it develops for flowers. once the reviews come in that vaping flowers and not combusting them is a go.... it will be in my basket the next time i visit the site

I never saw any ceramic disc for the Atmos Raw... only the ceramic filter.
Perhaps I am guilty of overlooking something, but these discs are the first I know of to be slipped down into the heater ahead of the meds.
I enjoy many recent pen advances, and at least with oils this one has some great features (the battery keeps count for you of how many hits you've done!)
I have been taking photos, and will do a vid real fast here... at least of oil use.
I wont do a flower vid until I feel it will be good.

So, is the oil placed on the coil like a dab or does it go in the ceramic cup that the coil hovers over? If you can fill the cup, that would be nice for when you don't want to bring extra oil with you.

This is a retro fit job! Ok one question down. Atmas knew about honeycomb disc look in threads search honeycomb. They also have a two piece glass screen. Also someone said it was good for flowers, that is contrary to my research. The digital displays are on the same pens from China. Can you give us some specs such as battery and thread size/type? Go to zainy.net order 2 for 42 get ya 4 honeycomb glass screens and a SS coil ten bucks so everything plus s/h is around half price of one VIP! DIY people they did nothing to these pens that we couldn't easily do!

I have ordered for my wife's e-cig collection from zainy.net.
The shipping was 20%, and an atomizer replacement took 45 days.
Besides SSV Chris, who I explained is not available at the moment, there is one other person at 7th Floor with an FC account, but the work load has been tight since the release of the DBV Oil Rig.
In the interim I have been given the "go ahead" to answer your questions to the best of my ability.
The VIP is not the only pen, that is being tested right now, I am testing another that has a smaller profile for use with more fluid oils, like pure gold. You all will see and hear more about that in a week or so.
I do not work at 7th Floor (indeed I do not "work" anywhere), but talk to them daily and have running dialog concerning these pens.
    I will state this.
There are MANY manufacturers in China.
Because one uses a coil that looks identical to another does not mean it is made the same. It means that people are all using the most recent style of doing things, and getting the base ceramic cups from a same maker. Each gets their own wires.. of a hundred different qualities, and each connects the coils in there own fashion.
I have a dozen "carcasses" here from coils... all look identical to my wife, (an ecig fanatic) , but I can now see differences from a few feet away.

So, as I had assumed, this pen may look like many others, but is indeed different(build quality) from all the others, correct?

Now that you have been authorized to speak on 7th Floors behalf; would you mind telling us a little more about this vape and how it's superior to similar designs? I see your mention of the material being raised up from the heat element via screen.

Very, very interested in this - I too saw this atmos clone and immediately assumed the worst.

I'm looking for something just like this to take with me on my trip to HI in a few weeks - if it works as designed, I'm sold. MMJ cardholder so I have access to many concentrates.

Awesome Vitolo, glad you are given the OK to talk more about this pen. as i stated earlier i do not need another oil pen. i have my ego-c with a dart and that works fine and considering my usage of oil and wax is VERY minimal, another oil pen is not going to do anything for me (yes i realize this may be better than my ego-c and dart but i don't use it enough to justify a better oil pen)

I am VERY interested in hearing how this develops into a FLOWER pen. that is what i have been looking to get for a LONG LONG time. In my research every pen has failed to not combust the flowers and each pen has proven to be nothing more than an e-pipe. so.... if this develops into a TRUE flower pen that vapes and does not combust i will be all over it. as SSVUN-YAH eluded too.... ATMOS did release a "glass disk" to be put in the chamber to prevent combustion similar to like you mentioned this VIP pen has. The glass one for the ATMOS did not stop combustion per the reviews i read. so i would be very interested to hear how 7th floor changed the disk to make it better or whatever they did to improve on the ATMOS failure.

the long of the short is....... please talk about how this pen can vape and not combust flowers and 7th floor will get more of my money :)

I know that the coils used in the heater are not the same material, and I know there were a number of choices at different costs for the heater. The one that was chosen, was chosen with the intent of it outlasting those made with lesser materials.
I am currently not testing this unit with flowers at this time, as it is engaged with oils. I have another unit that will continue work with flowers. That unit has in store for it a couple more fashions of ceramic disc to keep the herbal material off the coils.
The tests with oils have been great. There is no actual wicking material, so the pool formed by the wax/putty sits within the coils that rise in ever diminishing rings from the bottom, and touch the top spring when closed tightly.
I am getting monster hit after monster hit.

I told you I am working on a vid, but I will show you a hit in a minute!
