Hm, damn... I guess more online searching is required. No one knows where to order metal pipe pieces online? Maybe I should just order some and see what I can make, they are only like 9 bucks each.... Man, I just wish we had a headshop in town, not a pornshop with pipes....

Man, this is frustrating... I can find this piece only online. I'm about to email an online vendor a picture and see if they can just send the stuff to me... maybe that will work.

That bowl looks like it will do, however It doesn't show, or describe the bowl as being threaded, but i assume it is.

I'm glad you guys liked my idea for the Vaporgenie mod. Its just a simple modification.

I'd like to know what you guys opinion of it when in comparision to expensive high dollar models.

Well, I went to my headshop some time last week. I forgot what day -- but I asked them about those parts and they said they could order some for me since they were putting in an order in the next few days. I said they should stock up on them because they are like 'essentials' for any headshop and they laughed at me. Haha, well, we shall see. About a week and they should be in.... my only dilemma now is finding a bong that uses a metal slide. Any ideas? They don't have any at the headshop. Maybe their are 14/19mm metal stems, that might work on a GONG bong? I don't know.... :/

Ah yes, I didn't click on the actual item to scope it out.... They also have a different exotic color -- 'light brown'. the wood needs to match the pipe to look good, they need to design some other tops for the exotic. :/

My VG top arrived today and it works bloody well with my little glass bong. I'm going to pack the vaporite away and use the vaporbong as my partner to the PD

Used a bic lighter and that worked real good too. I did scorch a couple but I'm working with ABV so fresh green is gonna be a treat.

that's sweet, cloud! How did you attach it to the glass bong? Did you just wedge it in there?

There is a rubber grommet that the metal slide passes through that provides the seal. I know ... it does mean there is rubber in the vapor path but it doesn't get hot and IMO not an issue. Others may disagree but compared to my vaporite with its Chinese history I'm feeling a lot safer/healther.

The bowl is pretty big but I was getting big clouds with just a pinch of herb covering the screen. Its basically a vaporstar - VG and I use it the same way as the vaporstar vid on youtube. That is, once I start to see vapor forming in the bong I stop applying heat and keep drawing. I'm very happy with the setup.

Mine was shipped today, I bought it after my brother lent me his for a couple of hours. I chose the exotic one and bought a mini blue flame torch from ebay. I think the exotic looks more like a regular pipe which is why I chose it over the standard one.

Its actually a hell of a lot hotter than a lighter, max temp reaches 2300C, but I plan in only using the lighter in short bursts, similar to the way you apply heat to a vapman. My only concern is the melting point for ceramic is 1500-2000C depending on the type of ceramic. As you can see the lighter goes well beyond the melting point, I guess I will have to be careful.

On another note, for those of you looking for a "bowl with threads" for your VG bongs, just buy a regular metal pipe like this.

I didnt realize that it was 30% hotter I figured it was a lot more than that considering that this lighter can melt gold, silver and other precious metals. What temps does a regular bic lighter reach? (2300x0.3=690, 2300-690= 1610C?) If my calculations are correct then standard bic lighter is still capable of melting some types of ceramic which has a melting point of 1500C.

In real world usage I don't think it's even remotely possible to melt the VG's ceramic flame filter. You'd incinerate your herb long before that could happen. If the VG is on fire you know to back off.

Plus on the VG site they recommend using a torch lighter to clean the soot from the flame filter so I doubt it will melt it. I've used a torch lighter with some success but have gravitated back to the bic. Less chance of scorching the herb that way.
