We can always use more clouds in WA. Good to hear they are making their way North! Are we the first WA owners? I posted awhile back about wanting to meet up if there were in WA owners yet and didn't get any takers...

I decided to up the ante for the wait on shipping...tolerance break time!

im not sure TBH. i would guess we are the first. which HT did ya grab?

I went with the Hydracirc....I actually really want a piece with a tree perc (have never had one) but I just am really not down with the exposed joint on the Vertigo. If the VXL Hydratree had been an option I would have snagged it, I hope I will be able to buy one down the road!

I totally agree. I'm very much a Q fan. I'm also extra-sensitive to drag, so I've adjusted my technique in every way I know of to reduce drag. But the Cloud . . . well, this takes the experience to a whole new level. With the ELB filled 3/4 with medium-fine grind and water 1/2" above the HydraCirc perc, I can't believe how smooth and easy the pull is. Do it as easy or as strong as you want, the Cloud still performs perfectly. Of course, with the Q there is a longer and narrower path, so given the Cloud's fundamental difference in design, you'd expect less drag - and I guess that's the point: It is just so very well designed and engineered. But not just in the path; add in the efficiency factors which affect how much pull is required to achieve the desired effect, and you've got much better overall delivery relative to pull. And then there is the HydraCirc, which has nearly imperceptible drag - it's every bit as good if not better than the Headford I use with my Q - so you get added moisturizing still with no drag. Perfect.

The Cloud costs more, but it is worth every penny.

Hey oldie happy to see that you got your Cloud!! Do you still see yourself using your EQ/headford or will the Cloud/circ make that combo obsolete? :)

Tracking shows my Cloud will arrive on Wednesday! Hard to believe it's finally going to be in my hands in a few days, I pre-ordered minutes after SM announced pre-orders were up and running. Long journey indeed but one I'm confident will be worth it. Videos and a review will follow and if anyone in the Chicago area wants to meet up and test it out, PM me.

You preordered minutes after the annoucement and are only getting your email now? OMG it's gonna take forever and a day to get to 2011 preorders. Sorry, just my jealosy frustration seeing all these Clouds go out lol

I think people who get a chance to order should post their preorder date in a BIG FONT like that so that I can just mindlessly glance at this thread to get an idea of when to look for an emial. Sound like fun?

Cool! So is that a hot knife cut or little squares to create the custom recess?

Assuming youre talking about the case, its pull apart foam squares. Worked out nicely for my Volcano. I havent done this one yet. Will tonight when I get home.

I have a theory that majority of the pre-orders took place quickly. I don't know the range of time that the pre-orders have been open but I think its been about a year and a half now. I'm guessing that 60%-70% of pre-orders were made in the first few months, and once they get over that initial surge of orders I think they will get caught up with the later pre-orders (myself included 12/2011) quicker than most of us think.

Then again that whole theory could be the result of this nice pile of ABV next to me, either way I'm still excited to see the progress! Go SM!!

That's hilarious sparty, I was thinking the exact same theory! Must have been a big rush after they opened, and then I bet they trickled in. Let's hope we're right!

What did you do with that big pile of ABV? lol

It also depends on what HT you preordered. I went with the SGW but had I gone with the gridded or tree tubes, I'm sure I would have gotten my Cloud much sooner. Stay strong bro, soon enough you'll be able to join us up in the clouds.

when i pre-ordered i changed my mind. started with dome went to tree. i got the email for the tree on 3/2 and I just got the email for the dome on the 3/29th. I sent phil an email said that I already had a cloud and to bring up the next person in line. I never got a confirmation email so Idk when i ordered. I believe that i was on the first day about 7pm pacific if that helps.I did not have the money so ordering a second cloud was not possible. I do plan to get a hydracirc this summer or when they become available.

I'll definitely continue to use my Q for social sessions, both whip and bag. Call me a Scrooge or whatever dirty name but no way am I gonna be passing my Cloud/HT around thru the hands of non-vaper guests only to have someone loaded drop it, knock it over, or worse yet cough into it - we've seen what that can do and I'd hate to have to hang a friend by the gonads. I'll bring it out once for a carefully supervised show-and-tell, and from then on, this baby is for me and the wife only. :whip:

@BL4ZE, could you elaborate a bit on what you mean by "much more usable"? In what way; why?

Well before I got the cloud I'd use my ssv and insert it right into a bowl with all my pieces. Basically I just eliminated the tubing and used it somewhat like the cloud. (Hope this makes sense) It worked alright with my bigger pieces but with my headford it would always brown the middle of the bowl because of the narrow vapor path. Also I could never really get a satisfying hit from it, but with my cloud I can get the hits I want and it makes the piece more enjoyable. I hope that clears it up for you.

Also for those new to the cloud and hydratubes make sure you always do a couple of pulls unattached from the cloud to make sure the water levels aren't to high. I'm sure all the vets here already do this, but just wanted to throw it out there.

Took me a week to get the money together, but finally put my order in today. Order #260, does this mean I will own the 260th Cloud? Can't believe this day has finally arrived! 2 day shipping, Vertigo package, and 4 extra bowls.

Mini Review: Cloud with Vertigo and bubbler in my signature.

Looks/Durability - It certainly was more "industrial" and rugged than I expected, also, shorter. To answer the question of how hot it gets, at full temp, for an hour and a half, and the unit was almost uncomfortably hot, but for some reason its the kind of hot where after holding it for a second its suddenly not so hot, same with the ELB. So for extended use the exterior will not get unholdable, only the screws are too hot to hold at temp 12 even, and the top will scold you, that's why HOT is printed on it.

Hydratube - It is nice but my glass cools better. I wish I had another choice than the Vertigo, because the yellow label is horrible. I thought I wouldn't like the protruding joint, but it's honestly pretty sturdy so I don't really mind it. Also the splash guard doesn't work well on the vertigo, so you must fill it low. But ultimately a HT is something I would always like to use because you get the most flavor this way and the tube size is good for a hit.

Efficiency - Best used packed 3/4 like the instructions say IMO. i naturally just grinded what I would for the Buddha, like ~.2, and it was just the perfect fill. This is the most efficient vape I think because it gets everything out of what you put in, and does it evenly through out the hits. Compared to how with a whip vape you need more heat to get big hits and all the flavor is lost in the first hit or two. First night getting it I had 4 big bowls and realized i was so high because temp twelve is much lower temp than what I was doing with the DBV. But still I find I end up taking more hits with this thing because its so good to the end.

Vapor Quality - A+ Its so pure and smooth. I like temps 10 to 2, mainly 12. Temp 3 or 5 is for a smoke like buzz. But because of the heat retention you don't tend to see super white thick vapor, but the exhales are still so huge. I think it's because the vapor is passing through so fast. I like hitting it super fast because the diffusion on my bubbler fires better, this way you won't see vapor in the bubbler but the exhale will be HUGE and cool. So its a very different vapor, more of a mechanical extraction. Hey but if your gonna vape, fucking vape, might as well do it the best you can, even if it loses the joy of adjusting your draw speed like when smoking.(some may not like this anyway I guess) I was coughing my lungs out every session up untill getting the cloud with my DBV, even though I kept the parts so clean. With this unless you take way too big of a hit, there is literally NO IRITATION. Finally, I feel i have have found a vape that can provide truly enjoyable vapor that satisfies me, cuz the Buddha certainly didn't.

Usability - Will be at temp 12 in 5 minutes like it says, about 7 minutes for hotter temps. I was impressed that after a huge long hit on high temps, it stays green and ready. Once it's been on for awhile though, even at lower temps, you can quickly adjust to any temp, and it will stand against the longest hit. One thing, as soon as you turn this thing on, its immediately ticking, and doing it almost constantly even when your not hitting it. Someone said its as quiet as a mouse, uh, well mines not. Its not a big deal and with people or noise it won't be heard, but alone, as i type right now, its squeaking in my left ear. Also the whistle has become enjoyable and the indicator of a good hit. I already crave that whistling fast hit. I think the whistle is simply caused because the glass airpath narrows into a small circle right below the ELB, it "seems" like thats causing the whistle.

When its gonna autoshut off it starts blinking red for a little while to give you time to turn it back on really quick if your not done using it, so the feature isn't annoying because ultimately I know i left my buddha on countless nights, and I'd hate to have this beast on that long.

Overall, I love it, I will make a video soon.

Mini Review: Cloud with Vertigo and bubbler in my signature....

Great "mini review". Helpful observations! Placed my order today and am happy to have ordered the HydraCirc given your comment on the Vertigo logo. I thought the old one looked good and did not like the photo posted of the new one.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. I wish I could have gotten a different HT as well. The Vertigo is nice but it scared me in how temperamental it is to where its filled. I hadnt thought much about it until the guy a couple of pages back busted his when water went in there. Ive had a drop or two of water escape out the bottom of this thing from being slightly overfilled (Just above the slits) so now I have to fill it just to the top of the slits and hold it perfectly vertical to get the percs working. Any bit of tipping one way or the other and the water level drops below the slits and kills the perc action.

I emailed SM about ordering another HT and havent heard from him.

Fortunately I got one of the Vertigos with the old logo. I sympathize for you guys with the new one. It is kind of fugly.

Next project will be a stand for the HT. Im trying to come up with something that will hold this thing up and not look terrible.

For people looking to find a stand or something to hold the HT while not in use, why not just use a small mason jar? If you have a Cloud you're bound to have one of these lying around somewhere.

Also if anyone gets sick of their Sovereignty HT or needs quick cash let me be the first person you get in contact with. :brow: Longshot I know, but I was super bummed to see those go after selecting in during preordering.

I'm sure down the road lots of HT trading will occur or at least selling/buying... those will be good times indeed. But do you guys really think the different HT's make that much of a difference in Cloud experience? I mean, how do these trees and domes and perks all really change the vapour experience? I'm a glass newbie and just wondering if it's even "worth" it to buy more than one since they all produce the same result? It's not like they are grossly different in size, etc. so should all basically work the same, minue an aesthetic effect? OR can you really taste differences like in smoothness between them?

I'm really getting excited about VXL's ramp up and release of the hounds shortly!!! It's been a bit, maybe SM55 can give us another update, just to keep us going!

Seeya in the clouds soon :)

Hello Combustion Fuckers! :D
Just a quick note on different types of diffusion- I have used The Cloud with about 6 different glass tubes and I can DEFINITELY tell the difference between different types of diffusion. Take for example a bubbler, the smaller volume of water and the placement of the perc actually creates more intense flavor. This is why an HT is so perfectly matched with The Cloud. On larger "airier" tubes sich as a 60 or a 75mm you can get bigger rips, but the fact that there is more air space in the "can" it is lighter in flavor, even though it is a bigger hit. (Hope this makes sense) I tend to prefer smaller pieces rather that tall beakers or tubes with more than two chambers. With an inline the vapor gets thrown upwards like a wave. With a tree or a shower head the bubbles shoot upright and more "bubble stacking' occurs. More bubbles mean more diffusion. I am in the process of collecting different types of diffusers to go with my Cloud. I will stick to pieces no larger than 14" tall so that you can really benefit from the extraction. Hopefully one day I can make a video illustrating the different types of diffusion in real time (slow motion would be awesome!!!) Until then however there are many videos already on youtube that show this to some degree...

Right, got it. Thx. I'm using the Headford with a Q elbow in the GonG joint attached to a short-whip into the Q. Seems to me the Headford has very little drag, but regardless, if you're using the Q's whip and elbow the path gets narrowed and extended some. I expect with my Cloud that the Headford will perform beautifully. That said, I've been pleasantly surprised by the HydraCirc's diffusion sans drag.
