Discontinued Thermovape Cera

Sarcasm? What for?

Nah, just humor to lighten things up. Lets just agree to disagree. It is a great device, and I don't think there is much to over think in regards to their decision. The only cart that really can benefit from the latching switch is the LL. Furthermore, when you actually hold one in your hands and see how hot it can get if left on too long, I can understand making the call from a safety standpoint.

Thermovape won't assume responsability for providing the means to use a Cera-LL in latched mode.

But it has been said so many times that TET stated that everything was subject to change, so what responsibility are they to assume? Why can't we just move on from this? So many people have posted their own way of getting over the switch "dilemma", heck even TET said you could experiment with different switches on your own.

Salutations SMELLYcat,

If you don't fear answering a question from me i'd like to know if it looks like the battery could reach an operating temperature of, say, 60 °C (140 °F) or maybe even 100 °C (212 °F) for example, whatever...

:peace:
I really don't think so. I have removed batteries after long session, Cera hot, Batteries warm. Nothing i found alarming. Charging them cycled more heat into them than using in Cera.

Salutations LeetMode,

...everything was subject to change...

No denial there neither as it's only natural for Thermovape to act in any way they see fit. They wished for feedback and the members are happy to get news 1st hand, that's fine with me!

But no one is forced to buy anything.

...what responsibility are they to assume?

Right now i think it's clear there won't be a Thermovape latching switch so, obviously... Thermovape doesn't have to assume responsability for something they won't do and that should be clear as well.

In any case the customers themselves are free to take responsability and require a protected battery even if it means less autonomy. To each their own priorities... Personally i favour the idea of fully restoring the original level of security (if configured this way) simply by replacing a faulty battery. Alternately, it's not that easy/convenient to replace a faulty switch i believe - or modify one even less!

Also, i vaguely recall reading about a yet-to-come miniaturized version of the Cera-LL - e.g. with a smaller bowl... That should call for less pre-heating and hence render the unit even more safer.

Sometimes more is better. Call me mister paranoïd.

...Cera hot, Batteries warm. Nothing i found alarming.

Ah. Then perhaps only 35 °C (95 °F)?...

:peace:

My first attempt at the LL was a success. I played with the LL cart for a while. ... That was why I had success the first time. It was heated up. Nice vapor clouds.

My second was not?

Third very little vape.

Forth , Fifth, got good vapor again (HEAT SOAKING) but very HOT mouth piece.

It is a lot of work to get it to make vapor. Too finely ground not good.

Now I have a lot to learn about getting this LL cart down. The learning curve getting me down. Any advice would be great.

I agree with what you're finding. It does work, and work very well, sometimes. Looked at another way, there are lots of ways it doesn't work very well? It's much more tolerant of procedure than T1 I think, but you can only stretch that so far. You just have to follow your results to understand it, even if that means doing stupid stuff like running it empty for a while tripping on the glow if that's what you did last time and it worked well after it. Worry about why after sort out how. Get repeatable results, then build from there.

In the end, there may be an a quantity issue. If you're really lovin' the oil cart, the LL cart isn't likely to carry enough bud for you? A solid hit from the oil cart has more THC than a bowl of bud, no way around that part. If your tolerance is up there, your tolerance is up there. I'm not saying that's going on, but it is a possible stumbling block for some folks I think.

If the goal is to quickly grab a couple bud hits of scary volume and get on with the day, I suggest you look into the Flash Vape. It's optimized for that kind of stuff rather than what Cera LL is. Taste is still good IMO but nothing like Cera. Likewise battery life, size, appearance and so on have been traded for ability to give huge hits in seconds. There's even a new upgrade that converts it to convection I haven't tried yet. I think the original model is plenty neat enough to recommend to guys in a big hurry for a few big hits.

Best advice for your LL Cera? "Take it out and play with it".

Thanks OF. I wont give up easy. You might be right about the tolerance or at least the time it takes to get to my happy place.

Since your twisting my arm I will put in at least 5more bowl fulls today for the cause.

Thanks SMELLYcat

Hello again everyone,

Been busy with school for a bit, but that hasn't stopped me from having lots of fun with my Cera. It seems like a bunch of people somehow thought I got mine weeks early in line or some craziness. I didn't bother to adress this when someone who ordered two days after me got theirs like 2 days after I got mine, but just to clear the air here's what happened: I explained to them that I wanted to get it by a certain day so I could make a video with my friend's toro (posted earlier in the thread). They said they would see what they could do, but did not make ANY promises. So IF I actually got it early (which I am not convinced of given what I have seen in this thread), then they essentially decided to give me a demo unit so I could make the videos I posted.

Tweek, thanks for telling me how to do the Buchee switch mod. I am going to get some speaker cable and do that, because the biggest difficulty I am having with my cera is consistency. I keep getting rips smaller than expected because I am not pressing the button hard enough. Switch mod here I come.

Btw, if someone would post pornographic oil cart vids it would be appreciated. I'm trying to convince my friend to get the oil version :D

I improved upon my little mod switch. I used a paper clip and needle nose pliers. I see people are starting to make their own. I'd like to see more. I really like jdee's thumb switch. Hey jdee how is that holding up btw. Also those of you who are using different batteries what are your thoughts so far in comparison with the original stock ones. Thanks.

For all the LL-ers still waiting for their order, try to add the mouth sleeve to your order !
You wil LOVE it (and need it) I'm waiting for mine to arrive and I'm sure I will get twice as
much fun (and I'm having a LOT of fun already !!) out of my cera.
I tried to put bigger chunks of bud into my bowl today and I got less dark vs green parts.
Also I started inhaling sooner than 30 seconds (after 15 to 20 sec) to start and heat up de chamber with a lower temp and slowly increasing the temp and that gave me a more equal abv (altough abv is a bad word here, when I had to stop to let the mouthpiece cool down it was green enough for a good second go.)
I did have much less vapor this way but it had me medicated just as good.

So after cleaning the EO cart I see the ceramic wafer is still black is that normal? How should the ceramic wafers core look like after its been cleaned? I'm sure it will never be white again right, it will most likely be stained now after use no?
Maybe someone cloud give me a heads up concerning this, thanks.

Cheers, medical Mark

Yep, that's normal

I've gone back to the original config. I noticed some disturbing temperature spikes with one of my mods, and I don't want to take any chances and break the darn thing.

Can the EL cart be used for EO?
I remember something about them being different wattages?
I have an EL cart I won't be using for EL but it would be nice to use for a spare EO cart.

just ordered a Cera. Anyone get engravings? Hear they do those. Anyone know how much they cost? And also I ordered the LL version... I see many people are doing switch mods for this cart. So is the problem holding down the button for like 30 seconds? and how does that latest mod buchee did with a paperclip even work? looks interesting and simple...

I've got my Cera ordered, so while waiting I've been looking at cases to carry it in, some small containers of wax, extra batteries, etc. I'm looking for a hard case with a foam insert so I can mold the inside to fit things nice n snug. This is the best (I think) I've found so far:

http://www.amazon.com/Vanguard-VGP-3200-Digital-Camera-Hard/dp/B000167SVM/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

If anyone has any suggestions or better ideas, please share.

try to get a small vatra case. They are pretty sick and make many different size cases. dime bag brand cases may also work, sold at wikipipe or w/e its called. I got one for my embur lighter and it fits it perfectly. but yeah vatra. look for a local high end smoke shop. many carry them.

ps.im kinda of talking about softer cases but vatra also makes small, hard, coffin like cases.

http://www.vatra.com/products/lock-n-load/ heres one similar to the one you were looking at

Microphone cases are definitely worth looking into, you can find them on any music gear website and they range in all sizes prices and qualities. The Cera is similar in shape to many common microphones so it wont be hard finding one for a good deal. Musiciansfriend, Sweetwater, zzsounds, and guitar center are all pretty good choices, but theres always more as your search engine will most likely point out upon your search.:2c:

The EO core is amazing. Review to come later, in the meantime here is some porn. Lebron & co approve of the cera. My three buddies and I were able to use the cera all over the arena without any hassles. I even used it in my seats, i just held the vapor in until the cloud i was exhaling became a bit thinner, Cera is definitely a game changer for my lifestyle.

I'm pretty busy so I won't be able to respond to questions for a few days,

Enjoy! GO HEAT!

Both of these next 2 photos were taken on the smokers patio at the American Airlines arena.

I didn't point the cera at the moon on purpose. Nevertheless I think the picture came out pretty dope.
