Discontinued The Sublimator

Thanks for the recommendation. I hadn't really considered the UFO since I originally read the "for use with a campfire" bit. I've only read this thread up to about page 50 or so and no one had mentioned the UFO up until then, but now I see a lot of people are using them. So is the end result similar to an Apollo? Have there been any side-by-side comparisons? At $200, this is sounding much more interesting.
i havent personally used an apollo, but i am getting the same results as others and the design is the same on the heaters. they both use the same atomizer as well. its very simple to use. 2min propane torch heat up, herbs, hit. cash, herbs, torch for 20 seconds, hit, repeat. you can also hit oil with the UFO. best part is there are no electronics to fuck up, and you can save up for an apollo heater in the meantime. i fuckin love my UFO and a few who have given them a chance love them too. It just takes practice on how long to torch.

Sounds like it might even be quicker to use than an Apollo then, with such a quick heat-up time, especially with the sub's one-hitter type nature. Hmm. Still seems like a lot to spend on a small piece of stainless steel, but the things people are saying about this vape makes it sound like a game changer. Not just hype, huh?

Could you heat the UFO on a gas stove?

And I've been packing even less.....now putting unscaleable amounts.....I can see the screen, but yet it still milks the same. Everyone has to try this. This is the real one hitter. Same amount of herb or less then my micro UD bowl. I gotta tone down the heat a bit but try just putting a tiny tiny tiny ass pinch. This thing can take any amount.
I've found a new routine with my UFO, I just do one dose of herb about 1/3 a teaspoon plus spiked/topped with kief (until it's mostly covered in it ~3-4 micro scoops), held myself to just one bowl and discovered that's just about all I need. I'm the type to go 2-3 bowls in a row as it was more like my former combustion routine and I'm never patient enough for the creep to come on. But now I'm consciously restricting myself, and I can make the stash last longer

You guys are both exactly right. I've been doing the same thing. Instead of using 0.1g, I'll use probably less than 0.05g. It's just enough to cover the screen completely. It's just like a one-hitter bowl.

@MisterG: I've discovered the same thing regarding only taking one hit and then waiting 5-10 min. before taking another.

I've been using the one hitter method here all along. I don't have a scale that measures 2 digits past the decimal but I'd guess it's about 0.05 like you guys are using, just enough to cover the screen.

Smooth sailing while I'm inhaling... VAPOR
The wattage on my sub continues to drop so I am considering a buying just a ufo kit appollo in order to keep subbin

Heres my question, Would I be better off just using my electronic appollo as a UFO by torching that? (instead of buying a ufo and waiting)
Or is that risking damaging the appollo even further? (past the point of no return)

I had read some people torched there appollos to clean them and thats what got me thinking..

Any advice offered would be helpful.

Keep on subbin:rockon:

EDIT: So yesterday I was pulling 32 wattz. Now i cannot get past 2. seriously considering turning my appolo in to a UFO. The timer seems to function fine. I think its the dimmer switch that failed.

This is why the sublimator is my most efficient vape. You can vape small enough amounts that it can all be inhaled in one breath. Full extraction and nothing is being cooked in between hits!

The solo with a reduced capacity pvhes bowl is the only other vape that I have that can do 1 hitters. The solo takes a long time to warm up and ultimately isn't as satisfying as the sub when using the same amount of vaporizables per session. The milkshake effect is very noticeable compared to the free flowing sub.

@LazyIdol the UFO was called the campfire unit cause it can be thrown in a campfire coals to heat up and pulled out with a chain I don't see why a gas stove wouldn't work.

so are you doing theses high temp micro loads or keeping the temp lower?
Mostly just around 33 watts, i do jump up to around 36 sometimes and get a much more well done abv (coffee color) If i'm in the mood for a more heady buzz i go down to 28 watts and get a golden color abv.
For dabs of sublimate I do turn it up to 42 watts.

I run mine at 28-30 wats and I get the abv as dark as I want. I never tried to milk a bowl for a session because that is not what the sub is designed for. I'll use my ha if I want a session to last and last.

So what I don't get is - how is it possible to have a sublimator and it's not even in your daily rotation (according to your sig). That blows my mind!

My sub has replaced ALL my other vapes because it can do what the others have never been able to - satisfying 1 hitters!

Once you start snapping vape bowls you won't go back!

My Sub hasn't even been turned on since June. That's because I have no glass to use it with, but even if I did it's so far out of my usage patterns that I still would use it only occasionally. It requires a fair amount of space to set up and use, which I can't devote to it. I liked and was impressed with the results when I used it but they weren't so impressive that I felt a need to find a way to work it into my rotation.

It does definitely need it's own environment to work in. I loveeeeeee:love: my sub but it may work it's way out of my routine as well as the wife and I are having our first child before summer. I cant see me having the time to use it.

edit: shhhhhhhh, I ordered a Lotus.

My other desktop vapes have been collecting dust since I got my sub. The Sublimator is perfect for me. I love how you can vape flowers and BHO so easily. Cleaning is easiest of any vape I've ever owned. Really only have to clean the screen every two or three days (two minutes) and clean the glass when you desire. I've tried my other expensive home vape while cleaning my sub glass and it doesn't give me the effects or ease of useage I'm looking for when compared to the Sublimator.
Waiting for the new Sublimator products to come out before I sell off most of my other equipment to fund a nice TI Apollo. Then I can keep this og Apollo for a backup.

UFO is the Sub with the smallest footprint, plus it's cordless, the safety tradeoff is nothing to trip over, but instead you use an extremely dangerous open flame. For those who can't handle either of those, there is the EVO.

In the future the sub will draw it's power from surrounding subparticles and require no electricity and will also fit in your pocket and inject sublimate directly into the brain. The second half of this sentence gets a little crazy. :tinfoil:

as long as you can have a dedicated vaping spot - i predict the sub will become your main vape! the subs ability to be left on during the day means its always ready whenever you are, and the fact that a 'session' can be done in 2 mins (2 high temp micro bowls) instead of 20 mins (as with almost every other vape i have tried), equates to a dramatically different amount of time spent medicating.

My Sub hasn't even been turned on since June. That's because I have no glass to use it with, but even if I did it's so far out of my usage patterns that I still would use it only occasionally. well considering that all your other vapes are portables - the sub would take a lot of room to set up! however, i don't think it requires any more space than your extreme V3 and bong took up. i have mine set up ontop of a standard baking sheet - thats WT and cork pad, subbuddy, atomizer, apollo, and stand, the electric box is off of the baking sheet but right beside it. i haven't burned myself or broken anything yet.
imo the footprint required for the sub and bong is the same as any other desktop vape.

im going to guess that based on your vaporizer choices that we are not looking for the same type of results because i had the opposite reaction - i felt the results from the sublimator were so impressive to me that i can't imagine not having it in my rotation and i finally have the confidence to sell my 'extra' vapes that don't perform the way the sub does.

For those who keep their Apollos on 24/7, how much do you think that's costing you in electricity, just curious on how that affects overall operating costs if I ever upgrade to an Apollo. For my UFO I get a $3 FatBoy propane tank to last me about 5-6 weeks of subbing, but I bet my usage will vary over time.

i turn mine off at night.
i run it at 28-30 watts so thats half of what a standard lightbulb runs at or twice what an efficient lightbulb
runs at.
the electricity is fairly cheap where i am but the service fees are brutal!

@notmyrealUSERname

what do you have for choices?

most of my vapes get rotated out every couple of weeks as I tend to build a pretty quick tolerance to each one's signature. That being said, for some weird reason, the Cloud and Sub are the two heaviest hitters I have but they also are the ones I get used to the quickest. when my cloud died I pulled out the sub and the lsv and just ended up using the lsv more due to its ease of use by comparison. I haven't gotten tired of the lsv yet in two weeks time, which is unusual. the sub will get the next rotation, and I hope it stays active once it does. my biggest problem with the sub is the dial controller. it's a little bit finicky and the sweet spot seems to drift a little from time to time. but it takes up about the same amount of space in my setup as the lsv. I will say, though, that when I think of paring down my collection, the sub never even gets close to leaving.

I guess I'm hard to please, I keep my sub and HI on 24/7 as long as I am around, and still rotate between my other vapes daily. I just really enjoy the variations involved in each experience. I do keep the sub on my desk in a dedicated space and it is the main driver through the day. Just for reference I have the first round sub, and 30-31 is my sweet spot for all materials used.
