Hi everybody. I wanted to share my latest SR-71 adventures. Maybe someone can benefit. I’ve just finished my 3rd gram of wax in my Herc and was debating on whether to clean it or start loading in a 4th gram. Taste was still pretty good but I wanted to try some new wax that tested out to 93% THC and I was reluctant to put premium wax into a dirty cartridge that had been vaping some run-of-the-mill CO2 oil (and I still have 3 more grams of CO2 oil).

@ataxian was a bad influence on me!
Your the bad influence!

I just had a couple of SOLO stems of OG.
When I was putting my unit to charge I thought to myself: "What would HENDONISBOT do?
My session was not finished!

HERCULES SR71 (FULL MELT saturated with GOD'S GIFT triple vacuum purged SHATTER)

5 Thick Flavor Filled Clouds!

Then I was feeling no pain at all so I grabbed a RED OMICROM with a C4 cartomizer filled with PURE GOLD.

5 more rips!

I told my wife it's Hedonismbot's fault!

She said just don't over medicate!

"Sure"!

Thank you to all who have documented their experiences with Persei and SR-71. After reading posts here, watching a few videos and help from @Vapoholic420 and @Caligula, I`m producing massive clouds in no time. I must admit I was a little intimidated at first, but this has been a smooth process. Very happy with my purchase and thank you for the quick and helpful advice.

OK, been playing with the core. I will post some pics soon of the unit, box, voltage LCD etc.

Manly playing with the Persei single head. So far I have used it with the SR-71 white, and the original herc. I have also used it on my Persei to drive the Cera EO/LL carts (I have a 601 - 3/8-24 adapter I got from a great member here). I can’t test with the black rod right now since I have an issue with it at the moment. However, the Cera EO/LL is 0.1 less in resistance so it pushes it harder than the black rod so I have no doubts about its performance with the core.

First this baby is a breeze to use. You just replace you standard tube and batteries with the new tube which has a socket on the bottom for the core power cable. You do need to use the ring on the original tube between the head and the tube to finish the unit.

Plug the core into ac, connect up to the tube, then adjust the voltage using the +/- switches next to the LCD. 0.1V up/down increments.

Initial impressions - look no batteries. No degraded performance from use. You can adj the voltage to the vape you like. I have found on my white rod it operates the best right around 7.1-7.2V. The Cera EO right at 3.8V.

The next thing I did is measure the voltage at the rod and compare it to the LCD display value.

I set the core to 7.4V and measured the socket output unloaded. 7.38V great. Now loaded with the white rod - 6.8V for 600mV drop. So the voltage on the LCD is at the unit and not the socket. The connection (wire, socket and Persei head drop the 600mV). I have measured the head before and its much less so the drop is in the wire between the Persei and the core.

This drop is a function of the current. The black rod and the white draw about the same cause the black is 1/2 the resistance, but gets 1/2 the voltage and current is linear. For me I ignore this because similar things happen with battery use. The battery drops voltage also. The best approach is to start at the nominal of the cart (like 3.6 or 7.4V) and adjust a little from there.

Now my 2nd unit is going to be installed in my truck. I am velco-ing to my console glove box and wiring up directly to 12V. The bonus is a USB power jack!

The only downside or con is the the tether of the cable, but I think you need that :)

EDIT: Update... Tried the Hammer and my bender with the hammer top. OK. This is awesome. I always burned the batteries so quick with the hammer and my 2 18650 setup is too heavy for my water pipe use (I use a bubbler with a 18mm DI with the bender inverted in it). Well the core unit is a bit lighter and power for ever. Boy this sure enables the Bender use.

Serisously I'm complete medicated!

Thanks to the SR71!
This is a very strong device!
10 grams of shatter needed for this thing!

Fuck Combustion!

Just waiting for ghost rider to say if the core is ready?

Downward spiral
Starting to have issues with the power button on my Persei. It seems to be acting the same way as Mynameismuds. Hit the power button randomly(could be sitting for awhile/overnite or could happen in the middle of a session) and nothing. Press it again, power. Obviously intermittent at the moment. I don't recall G alerting me to this problem when I was speaking with him prior to purchasing my Persei. If it is a known issue as Mynameismud states, hopefully this will be resolved quickly and efficiently. I second the concept of the warrantee giving W9Tech a valid debit/credit card to expedite the warranty process, then if they don't receive the bad part in certain time you get charged for it.

I am starting to depend on my Persei/Herc combo, just my luck to start having some hiccups. No sense contacting W9Tech as it appears no solution is available yet. Hope the problem doesn't eventually result in a dead top. Quit worrying about those KISS carts, W9! Was gonna jump on the Core, but since I need a Persei top for that, I'm gonna hold off for now.

At the risk of sounding rude, yes I have checked this screw, that screw, rod in place, batteries, etc.,etc. Everything is working perfect other than the intermittent power button.

actually 2 is a must, maybe 3 for da boat. Don’t leave home without it.

EDIT -Was talking to G on Skype and he requested this:

Guys, everyone with power button issues - could you post an image of the bottom of your head - the inside area that screws on to the tube and the button that makes contact with the battery positive.

They need this to help diagnose the issue...

I would love to scoop a core for road trips, with the USB charger you can have the phone charging at the same time which is brilliant. Although to be perfect for my needs, considering it is already a regulated variable-voltage device, I also need to get a 610/501 adapter at the same time, then I can use it to drive my e-cig atomizers with a simple swap. W0000p wooop! Thanks for the writeup and pictures PhotoRider!
I don't want anyone to think I'm obsessive?
For the record I'd say that's the best "problem" to have in your life at this point

Need more energy for daytime so its NYC Diesel this morning out of the Solo with my PNWT. Sooooo smooth.

I don't think this bud is cured properly. Its got a bit of grass flavor in the aftertaste. Maybe its the strain? The place I got it from usually has top shelf fire. Effect is there and potent though.

maybe it wasn't properly flushed? does the ash turn white if combusted?

Eh.... Wouldn't know. Lol I don't even have a pipe anymore! Is flushing (or not) responsible for the wet grass smell in some bud? I always thought it was a curing issue.

@ataxian I only have about 3 grams of this stuff.

I'd bitch to the dispensary but I preground the whole eighth before trying it (dumb) and I've honestly probably vaped almost a gram out of it since yesterday.

Use it up and move on!

I get stuck with over 30 grams.
Something I would turn it into shatter and save it!
