Gotcha. So in my willingness to sacrifice all for my FC colleagues, I chewed on a piece of Arizer's pvc tubing. Ugh, and kinda sharp on the tongue, too. But no taste. I am wondering about the odor, though. That can affect taste. Is the tubing still relatively new? At any rate, the silicone is just sooooo much better. Give it a try and pls share your results.

    Hey all!
I've been a long time user of the Extreme Q (at least 4 years) and have since begun to notice it having issues... Therefore I am on the hunt for a new vaporizer. Now after tons of research I see that once again the Extreme Q is the best however I want to make sure there is no word on a new vaporizer coming out soon that I should wait for. Thanks all!!!

Bowing up ballons from the ssv wand. They taste great with much better density. I also think it fills faster now but i have not timed the stock setup versus this mod.

Cut up a new coozie for her and she still has as FF down in there and the wand still has its screen along with an elbow screen. The bag is from a volcano cut your own roll.

I wonder where I can find an extra fine screen to replace the ssv wand screen with.

No doubt I'll take flak for this, but . . . IMO the best direct draw vape on the planet is the EVO.

The Q is great for its versatility and price point. New vapes like the EVO, Sublimator, and Herbalizer are considerably more advanced but all much more expensive.

Of course, there is no such thing as the "perfect" vape - that depends upon each user.

What exactly is the purpose of the coozie if you don't mind me asking?

Helps the glass parts retain heat better. It cuts any draft of air you may have from constantly working against your heater. My medication station has a fan blowing from one side and an AC from the other side and the coozie makes a world of a difference for what it is ( a free cheap coozie)

Thanks for the replies and information everyone. (and the self-sacrifice oldiebutgoodie!) I did burn in the unit for a few hours at max heat and with the fan blowing through the whip but the whip still tastes terrible. I'm planning on getting some silicone tubing so haven't been using the whip much to see if the flavor gets any better with a lot of use. The 18F-18F GonG I ordered from amazon does have a sizable bulge in the middle, perhaps bigger than in the picture on amazon, but it does fit in the EQ and I bought some screens that fit inside. Here's a picture:

It now heats more evenly although I haven't fallen in love with it yet. An adapter without such a wide bulge may be better because the airflow would heat all of the material more evenly. Also, I keep returning to my vapor genie because I can hit little bursts of flavor so much more easily. But I am continuing to experiment with the EQ and will report back how it goes. This is my first desktop unit so I'll probably get better at using it as time goes on.

    DDave adapter?

sorry for the double post, too late to edit previous post I guess

Hello Everyone! New to the forum and totally new to vaping.

I have read about 77 pages of this thread and really appreciate the info, you guys are awesome!

I have just unpacked the Arizer Extreme Q and gave it a try. I have a few questions if you dont mind.

When you are done, and have taken the whip off, and emptied the pretty-hot cyclone bowl...what do you do with them?

I read that many of you just leave it on, sitting there all day.
Do you also leave the cyclone bowl on? If not...what do you do with it? Seems like a bad idea to me to leave the glass bowl sitting there baking but i know not.

Where can I put this whip at? Do you guys just put it aside somewhere, in a special bag, etc?

Since I have to use the Arizer out here in the cold garage, I worry about things like dog hair, etc., floating onto the ceramic heater thingie under the cyclone bowl.

    Any suggestions?

I also worry about the COLD out here in the garage affecting the machine.

I have a heater running constantly but the change in the air from here to there is measurable. Should I turn it off and take it inside when Im not using it due to the cold, or just leave it on at a (which temp?) specific temp?

Thank you for any and all help!

What, only 77 pages??? Come back when you're done before asking questions! :D

Joking aside, welcome! It might help to know just how cold you're talking about. Like, are you in Alaska?

LMAO Oldie! Perhaps I can work in another 77 pages this weekend! :p

By cold I mean...Its 27 degrees outside and in this garage its probably 55-60 im guessing. With the heater blasting directly on you, it feels just fine to me but im not a delicate machine.
Since making that post above, I've moved the heater closer to the machine to try to keep it mostly 'room temp'.

My biggest problem seems to be figuring out what to do with the whip and bowl. I cant seem to find a good place to set them down when not using them.

If im not using the machine, should I take the empty bowl off the ceramic heater thingie?
Ive read that others just leave their machine on all day, but what about the bowl? take it off?

And you all were absolutely right about the learning curve on this thing.
it took me from noon yesterday til about 8 p.m. to get to where I thought I had figured it out.

My only complaint so far is the thick, milky white clouds.
On my unit, right around 210-220 provides thick clouds of smoke as long as I inhale and it hits me like a bong in the throat!
I was gagging, coughing...take a sip of Mt Dew....gagging, coughing....standing out in the snow trying to catch my breath....taking my jacket off...breath...breath...lol.

I had to learn to baby-toke that whip. So far so good!

Lol Cannabis. Im experimenting around the 180-190 range right now.

It seems to 'appear' wispier at lower temps but the taste is just unbeatable. I had so much flowery-type aroma in my mouth I thought it made my tongue numb for a second!
I have never tasted that strong of a flavor and Ive been doing this for a pretty long time the regular way with papers, bongs, etc., this is my first vaping adventure.

    Some things ive Noticed:

There is plenty of room around the base for a Ipod dock of some kind, memory card, etc.
When you push 'audio' on the remote it should begin playing that Ipod i mentioned.
There should be a way to 'hang' your whip attached to the machine so you can set it down between uses.
It should come with a little bag/holder of some kind to store your whip/bowl in overnight.
It should come with a type of 'cover' to protect it at night. Ive put a giant coffee cup hanging over it last night to protect it from stray hair, dust, etc.
It could have a usb to download songs to the Ipod I mentioned earlier.
There is plenty of room for a speaker somewhere. For the Ipod thingie.

An optional thing could have been custom decals, initials on the side of it. They could have offered something like that at a price and made a few extra bucks. Im sure plenty of people name their 'babies'!

    I have a quick question .

you guys let your vaporizer get to temperature and then turn on the fan? Ordo you let it warm up? I let my warm up for about 5 to 10 minutes until I turn on the fan I'm not sure if I'm just wasting vapor this way though I would love if someone could give me insight to the proper way to do this.

I am really glad I've got back my EQ and found the ELB method. It makes the Cloud withdrawal so much easier.
One of many astonishing things about theCloud was the completeness of extraction possible within one hit.
With any other vape, including the EQ, this was not possible as the were places within the bowl that just did not get eough heat.
I'm talking sides of the cylone bowl, especially the ring aroud the hole just above it etc.
Anyone familiar with an ELB know the ELB solves this. Keeps herbs encapsulated and also heats up with them during a hit helping heating the sides.
Using an ELB as an EQ bowl (put in an elbow) improved the extraction and uniformity to an astonishing degree.
The extraction is almost on par with a Cloud if you let the empty cyclone bowl on the unit and heat up on like 250°C.
I believe the one-hit extraction is possible now if I had bigger lungs and set the heat to 260...

The extraction of the Cloud was so good that when it stopped giving vapor and I stirred for the first time, still no vapor on the output!
If this is done with any other vape I know you get another hit tasting almost like fresh bowl. Because of new unvaped surface being exposed.
I still can get quite a big hit after stirring, but I can taste its a finisher and then its really gone. That is a big improvement.
I can finish a full ELB like this: hit, hit, stir, hit. Done, ABV looks the same as from the Cloud (hit, hit, hit, done)
Or a small ammount in one hit, just like Cloud. The taste of course is not on par.

The ELB is a miracle bowl, and EQ owners are really blessed it works in it. I really recommend searching for ELBs and trying this.
Its just 20 bucks and you get 4 bowls that double the extraction quality and user-friendliness.

Of course there is a chance they will not fit. They fit into one of my elbows perfectly, but the other one is too tight. I thing the EVO ELBs are a bit thinner and would fit the other elbow and fall out of the first one.

    Oh my, questions, questions . . .

    @goatbut29 -

Your garage temp of 55+ is fine, that's chilly but not really cold. Some argue that leaving the unit on continually shortens its engineered life, others argue that the expansion/contraction from cycling the machine is actually more stressful on the components. Technically speaking, both theories have merit but AFAIK there isn't any conclusive data for the Q one way or the other. Obviously, if you cycle it you'll have somewhat longer heat-up time with the cooler ambient temp. On the other hand, if you leave it on you might not want to hassle with a very hot bowl, or if you take the bowl off, you'll have to re-heat it like you would if you were cycling it. Besides the convenience factor, there are users that need fast medication and repeatedly waiting for heat-up can be a royal PITA. Only you can decide.

Same with where to put the bowl and the whip, etc. Most users have a designated area with a place for everything, just use your imagination. And, good grief, turn that machine down! You are getting vapor probably as low as 160F. Start out at 170-180, and using a fresh bowl each time, slowly work up the temp scale. A lot of factors influence what is best, and it can vary by strain, dryness, grind, ambient temp/humidity, draw, and setup. Have fun experimenting.

    @metrons -

Turning the fan on will force feed ambient air while you're heating up. And, yes, eventually there will be vapor production likely before you're ready to hit it. So I wouldn't advise that. The conductive heat needs to first move up the bowl and get it good and hot, then you can pull or turn on the fan.

    @SavageCore -

The adapter looks like it will work. The mid-section will easily clear the Q bezel. What's impossible to determine is the inside diameter at the middle, and therefore what size screen you'll use there (if you use that method). I don't recall offhand if whether adding the SSV wand eliminates the need for that screen, so you'll want to check that (or someone else can pls chime in).

For the SSV whip, you need to be sure the wand is the ground glass type for a GonG joint. The whip itself will be quality silicone. It's 1/16" larger than the stock Arizer whip, but that shouldn't be a problem.

Most important thing I have noticed with the Ddave adaper and the ssv wand is that its a lot more glass with within 3 inches of the heater then stock set up. I actually have been having heat up times of over 15 minutes to get it all HOT. When all that glass is properly heated I get super milky rips at nice temps. When i power off the unit the glass is still hot enough for at least 4 good rips. Id like to say besides the Added heat up times Ive noticed improvements in ease of loading, flavor, production and extraction.

    Happy Danksgiving EQ family!!!

@oldiebutgoodie Thanks, I had read that the SSV Wand comes with screens so probably not needed? Also I still have my spares from initial EQ purchase so can cut them to size.

Been enjoying bags with the herbs lightly spread into the volcano bowl and then fan 1 @ 219c or fan 2 @ 248 for sticky concentrates. Nice dense milky vapor. But the flavour is terrible now, but, I have a few bags coming in the post so will use at little longer then switch to ssv whip or connect to my glass piece :)

    Love this device!

    Happy 'Danksgiving'!

I'm not sure what @DDave ended up with, i.e., whether after adding the SSV wand (later) eliminated the need for the adapter screen. I have a friend who is using the adapter with the Q elbow/screen (the first gen of this mod) but not the wand, and it is working great for him.

The flavor is a lot better with a VXH cloud than with your (newest) mod on the EQ? Can you speculate why that is? Is it the constant temperatures the cloud provides?

I'd be cautious in assuming the "DDave" adapter you get is going to be the exact one pictured on EBay. It might be worth double checking and asking the seller. The one I actually got, which you can see in my picture above, looks somewhat different than in the picture on EBay.

I've read half of this thread by now and also still can't tell if there are two screens in the SSV ground glass wand. The information on the SSV site isn't very helpful either. Hopefully someone with the SSV wand can chime in.

wisherly: The taste is better on the Cloud becuase of it all-glass airpath. Excluding the silicone tube, the EQ only has all-glass vaporpath. All-glass heater in the VXC improves the taste big time.

Hey SavageCore and all, The F/F adapter screen can definitely be eliminated if you use the double screened SSV Wand approach (elbow screen in mouth of wand, SSV Wand Screen on internal ledge of wand). With this setup, would be near-impossible to get any product to fall out of wand into heater below. (However, I kept my screen installed and haven't noticed any negative impact to doing so).
