The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

FYI the $50 was a good deal. But the other day when I looked regular price went way down.
I agree I saw the price went from $129 to $69 which is still a bargain I feel for what you get its a steal and its a quality little piece. I have no experience with nice water pieces just old style bongs but this still satisfies my desires for smoother bigger cooler hits

Since some of you are talking about using Cloud ELB's in the Q . . .

The ELB will not help you much w/o getting it close to the heat source. I tried it inside an adapter atop the cyclone bowl, both feeding into a whip and being mounted with a HydraTube. Neither delivered good results.

However, inserting an ELB into DDave's adapter might provide a good result. Even better though would be the ELB mod discussed in the Cloud thread. Instead of the ELB body, use a Q elbow screen. Then shape an ELB cap to fit into the Q screen; flattening the cap spreads it for a snug fit into the elbow screen and provides good space between the two screens for the load (there are pics). In effect you get an elbow-pack without having to actually pack. Put it in a straight male adapter, fit into DDave's f/f adapter, no screen required. Should deliver very big hits.

You had probably too low temp. Oh trust me, it WORKS! It is the most powerful and consistent bowl I know of today. I get huge hits comparable to VXC (not taste-wise) and for an EQ very even and light browning. It actually cooks much more similar to the VXC instead of the OG EQ when you use VXL ELB. But the temp need to be really high. I use 245°C (!!! and my EQ is even modded so its more powerful than OG). Don't let that high number scare you. Oh and leave the cyclone bowl on top with fan on all the time if using ELBs so its always warmed up perfectly.

The setup is seen on the previous page here.

Well, as usual Seek, you are correct. I just didn't think to take the heater that high because it's so far above my desired vape temp. Gotta love those ELB's.

I just got an extreme q last week and I'm pretty disappointed with the taste, at least in any configuration I can come up with involving the stock parts, other than directly hitting the elbow without any tubing. The tubing tastes absolutely horrendous. I'll bet a lot of people who buy this and don't know about the mods you all are talking about just never use it again. Anyway, It's my first non-portable vape. I was hoping for better straight out of the box. I'd gotten used to my vapor genie and love the taste but was hoping for something with more capacity and versatility.

I've read maybe a third of this thread and am considering some new tubing, etc. I'm just disappointed that I have to spend a bunch more to make this thing work. Maybe you all can help me a bit with this? How significant is the taste difference between silicone tubing and all glass? I ordered an 18F-18F adapter (same thing as what people are calling the DDave adapter, right?) like most of you seem to be using. Hopefully that won't decrease my bowl size too much, because then I'll be tempted to do something like get some of those ELB bowls someone described above, and those would cost me over $35 for four for the best price I can find. Does anyone know where I can get those in the USA? The only dealer I could find with them in stock was in the UK. I'd rather not shell out another $30+ on some silicone tubing too only to find it still tastes bad. I suspect I actually like the taste of the heat you get from inhaling so close to the heater. That's probably something I picked up from using a VG, although on the EQ it is kind of harsh so occasionally I stick the elbow directly into a bubbler.

That all glass set-up looks nice. It's tempting to get one of those PWT's for $50. Contact the manufacturer directly, huh?

Welcome to the Forum!
There is much dissatisfaction with the tubing that comes stock with the Original Arizer EQ whip. good thing is that the tubing becomes dirty quickly and can be replaced with good-silicon tubing. The link is posted throughout this thread, as recently as last week, I believe. From what I read, it's more flexable and far more neutral as far as taste goes.
The DDave adapter is an 18mm F/F adapter that fits on the EQ. There is another model, which appears to have a solid glass ring around the middle, that will not fit. So beware of an adapter that won't accomodate a screen on a "hollow" ledge in the middle.
Now, for taste, once you get the tubing issue straightened out you can experiment with temperatures. IMHO, for taste one can start on 160C and bump it up 5 or 10 degrees at a time till desired max temp is reached. This will give the most possible flavor in the early draws.
Enjoy! Experimentation is 3/4 the fun!

RD, you are absolutely correct with the 160C! Thanks for catching that! Could you imagine how long it would take to generate vapor if one started at 160F...

He would have become discouraged real quick.

Still unable to get any satisfaction with herb between EQ elbow screen and SSV screen @ 392F. Very light vape and ABV. How big a load are you using? Packed or loose?
Getting good sessions in elbow pack @ 392F.
Haven't tried lower chamber as cyclone bowl.

Hey RD, very true!

Sorry to hear you're not getting good performance! My sessions are @392F using SSV Wand & DDave F/F adapter, wand is 1/2 full, loose pack, herbs very dry. Preheat for approx 5 minutes if starting up EQ.

Is the lack of performance only when using an SSV Wand? If yes, you could check to see if the seal between the SSV and Adapter were air tight? If that leaks, even slightly, it could mean quite a difference in performance.

Good luck and let me know!

I got to say I just have to disagree about EQ and flavor. I just took the nicest most flavorful hit. Maybe they aren't all as delicious as the first but they sure are good tasty clouds.

Not sure if anyone is gonna agree but my friends and I enjoy hitting it with the bag on occasion, I've had it for about a year now and I love it and use it 5 times a day if not more. Mostly through my 18mm bong thats really nice.

Thanks for the response DDave, the 18F-18F I orderdered is this one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DXHBC7C/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hopefully it will come today.

One thing I didn't mention which is significant is that I'm using my vape for a variety of herbal blends I make and tobacco in addition to marijuana. Most of you seem to be using exclusively marijuana. One difference this makes is that packing material in the elbow is not always feasible as many of the herbs tend to fall out due to their different consistencies and shapes. So I really need some kind of set-up with a sizable bowl and screens on both sides of the material. Can anyone comment on the size differences between the ELB bowls and the DDave adapter combined with the elbow screen but not using elbow pack?

As for flavor, it is the tubing which has a terrible taste. hitting the elbow directly tastes fine. I've now attached a couple of the EQ mouthpieces straight onto the elbow using just the short (half an inch long or so) pieces of tubing that came with the vape. The mouthpieces and the elbow all touch each other. The tubing is just used to connect them together. This set-up is not bad, and it's an all glass vapor path right out of the box. I'm wondering how much different the taste will be with the silicone tubing that has been recommended here several times (from amazon) compared to an all glass set-up. Maybe I'll just have to try it out, but any opinions are appreciated.

Dave, Don't get me wrong. Getting great performance with the elb pack in the lower end of the SSVwand @ 392F. Have a screen down in the F/F, that floats in the center to catch anything that falls out, but my grind is such that it holds in without being tightly packed. Also have a screen up in the SSVwand to keep other end clean. Silicon hose to 18" old style bong with warm tap water and enjoy with my morning cups of coffee, and when ever. Amazed at the results from such a small amount of herb. This will insure I make it until next growing season with what is canned and put away.

Maybe I just need to turn up the heat a bit to get the same results in the SSVwand that you do. May play with it, will try pre heating, but FULLY pleased with the elb pacs for now. Pop one out, pop another one in, works for me.

Hi wisherly, that appears to be the correct adapter (the glass ring around the middle not as wide/thick as the adapter I've seen which does not fit).

For a "screen surrounded" configuration, I've had great performance from an SSV Wand (with its associated screen) and including an EQ Elbow screen in the bottom of the wand. The elbow screen is that which gets removed to load/empty the wand. Loading it loosely to 1/2 full gives me good vapor with pretty much no need to shake/stir after the 2nd draw. (After first draw can leave herb sticky, near top screen... that one gets a shake.... subsequent draws do not).

Hey RD, so you're using the elbow pack method with the SSV Wand? I always wanted to try that, but I would lose some of the ease of use. The way I have it now, I never need to remove the F/F adapter from the EQ... dont even need to clean it, as the SSV Wand is the only piece that houses the herb.
Agreed on experimenting with the heat in relation to how you are using the glass and what material is being processed.

Good luck and Vape On!

Thanks Oldie for all your infinite wisdom can't visualize what you are saying but sounds like itll work like a charm I wonder would the Elb fit into my Male/male adapter

Here's a tutorial. Note again it is only the ELB cap that is being used, not the body (the Q elbow screen is used instead).

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/vapexhale-cloud.5247/page-524#post-381157

An ELB should fit inside a male adapter if the Q elbow screen does; they have the same diameter ledge.

all glass vapor path out-of-the-box

Small oversight re the tobacco, heh? For me, that would ruin the taste. IME it's also best to keep the glass pieces clean so that old resin (or tobacco residue?) isn't affecting the fresh vapor. Also, might it be that you've grown accustomed to taste influenced by the tobacco? (I presume you're not doing combustion anymore; if you are or just recently stopped, that definitely could be a factor.)

The tubing will make a difference, although that of course is subjective. But going with silicone has other benefits too, in particular it is so much easier to use. Worth it.

The taste of vaped tobacco isn't a negative for me, especially if it's organic. So that's not what's causing the bad taste. Even when I smoke marijuana I'm usually mixing it in with other herbs, including sometimes tobacco. There are many different herbs which are tasty and have medicinal properties which I use. I'm with you on smoked regular tobacco though, smells and tastes terrible to me. No, what I'm talking about is rubber. Smoking out of the tubing included with the EQ left me feeling like I just damaged my lungs.

@DDave
Good to know. Thanks for the info. I've never seen an SSV wand except in (not very helpful) pictures so I'm not sure where the screen goes in it, but how big a space does that method give you to put material in? Comparable to a cyclone bowl filled up (to the black tape)?

Hey wisherly, maybe this pic would help? The red line is where the SSV Wand screen sits, the green circle highlights the elbow screen.

In regards to the amounts of product that can be loaded in one shot, I've never packed to capacity. Either use 1/2 loaded cyclone or SSV Wand... (now, solely using the Wand however).

Hope that helps....:)
