thanks for being so helpful oldie.. instead of giving me shit for asking about how to use the bags and whatever other questions i had.. even though its all been covered.. having the info i needed ATM in one post was awesome... for example the Bag Question i had at the start.. after that single post i was good w/ the bag... i don't see it as a big deal if some one asks w/o researching.. a comment is a comment.. and a comment saying to go research mite as well (also)be a helpful one instead. or not one at all :2c: i don't see the harm in useful info being repeated.

Hey, Ive had the extremeq for over 2 years now, with one replacement a year ago. Any tips for cleaning the inside without taking it apart?

I've had mine for about a year or so now and I usually just take off the glass parts and and turn it upside down and turn the fan on for a second or two and give it a little shake. I opened it up a few days ago and there was not a speck of abv or bud to be found

Turning it upside down and gently shaking will usually remove any debris that got down into the unit. With that said, taking the bottom off to do a more thorough cleaning is very easy. Just remove the four rubber feet (they pop right off), remove the four screws, and take the base off. Wipe things off with a little ISO and blast the inside with some compressed air, then reassemble.

So thinking of grabbing one of these. The best price I've been able to find seems to be about 140. What I'm mostly concerned with is that there are a few sellers claiming to have the latest "2013" versions. Others say 2012. I cant find anything real referring to a change. Anybody know whats up with that? also whats the difference between the black and silver finishes? does that have anything to do with versions? or is it optional?

I believe the only difference is black looks cooler lol, and the black one allows you to set the temp to within 1 degree, whereas the silver one sets the temp in increments of 5 deg. Not a big deal if you ask me:)

The 1-degree steps would be highly annoying to me. I like to work my way up starting at a low temperature, and that would quintuple my by button presses.

yeah that actually does sound really annoying. I dont want to have to push the button twenty times to change from low to high. haha.

But as far as the 2013 version? BS or real?
And has anybody seen a better price than 140 shipped?

According to Arizer, last year there were a significant number of incremental improvements made. I forget the exact number, but it's approx two dozen. The black casing is how to identify the "improved" model. The one degree temp adjustment - which I don't care for, but at least the presets get you close - is the only improvement that off hand I can think of, that the user actually sees (besides the casing). Everything else is internal. I and others have looked for an actual list, can't find one. I strongly doubt there has been more changes so early this year, not unless something went awry and needed to be rectified. A friend of mine just last week received a new unit from Arizer under warranty, and it certainly appears and operates identical to the 6 month old unit that failed.

I also strongly suggest that you buy from an authorized retailer. Since most 3rd-parties e.g. on Amazon and eBay are reselling units purchased from a distributor, who also themselves sell direct, IMO it is safest to buy directly from the distributor. Some have a price match guarantee, and then there are the preferred retailers listed on this site which honor an FC discount code. My friend bought his from puffitup for $155 IIRC. When the heat control failed, puffitup arranged for a brand new replacement despite his having also cracked the heater glass (his fault). You can deal direct with Arizer for service, but a warranty claim can be problematic if Arizer doesn't know your retailer and has no record of the sale, etc.

Where for 140 shipped? Heck, i'd buy one just to use for aromatherapy for that price!

I can confirm that it IS highly annoying. I hated the change.

The included remote has preset temps on it, from there you can fine tune the temp if u wish. haha you don't have to actually dial all the way up each degree, that would suck:smug:

Also I forgot to mention, I have the silver EQ, and my pops has the newer black EQ, and the first difference I noticed was the darker/newer EQ has a quieter fan. Which is plus in my books as Im always waking up my gf in the middle of the night when I fill a bag:\

Yes I know, but it would still take more clicks than I was used to, which was two.

i like how it goes up by 5C on the silver one.. keeps me from caring about it too much ha.. having the option to go up 1 at a time i might think about it and get all picky w/ it. even the way it is w/ the silver one already gets me pickier than i'd like haha.

Idk a few weeks ago maybe a month....it was listed @$240 but I put $140 in the price match box and it was accepted. A friend of mine loved it and got his own for the same price last thursday. No free grinder for him though. I got one but it acryllic and I think its garbage compared to my sweetleaf grinder

Loving the Q by the way!! A great first vape IMO

Wow, you can get an Arizer Solo on that site for $160! That's an insane deal.

Not really, Puff It Up has had the Solo w/ free grinder for $160 for like a year. Actually you can get it even cheaper than that.

The other day I was walking over to my already warmed up EQ to take a drag. I was wearing socks and must have generated a considerable amount of electricity. I touched the temp button to increase the temperature and the static discharged and the screen went blank . . . not off (black) but just blank (blue). Couldn't get it to come back on until I turned off the unit and turned it back on.

Anyone else have this issue? Should I be worried that I'm doing damage to the Q?

Haha!! This exact thing just happened to me not 3 minutes ago!! I was worried as hell but it turned back on and everything seems to be in working order.

Glad to know I'm not the only one! My heart skipped a beat when it happened. I'll have to touch my metal desk now before I touch my Q . . . I can already see this turning into some kind of obsessive compulsion, lol.

I've done the same to mine a few times with static electricity. Not for quite some time tho. I kind of figured there was some sort of circuit breaker in there to protect the electronics, and it resets when you turn it off and back on. Someone else here may know for certain and chime in - hope so!

Most find that after you have it a while you don't touch the buttons nearly as much. Less (or no) bags means no fan, and once you find your personal temp sweet spots there's not too much fiddling with it at all. Especially once you get used to just reaching for the remote. ;)

A friend of mine was not so lucky as you guys. He hit the Q with a static electricity charge - socks again - and got the blank screen. Except it didn't reset. He made a warranty claim and received a new unit, no questions asked. So this must not be too uncommon of a problem.
