Hey Bob, do you feel the extractor was worth the price?

hey darb, it truly depends on a few factors that can only be answered by you.
    how important is safety?
    quality?
    enviro/conservation of butane?
    time?
    money?
    general starting product?

it is for me as i mostly run leaf, i can do it in my house right next to me. green factor of recycling matters a lot to me from both enviro and cash. i have plenty of time to do this. i can afford it. quality is easier to control with a straight tube, but can be achieved w/ the proper procedure and tools. hope that helps!

RezBlock is still doing well. It works well in the fritter and makes routine cleaning a breeze. I am experimenting with the d-limonene and some reclaim from my HA. I already had a lot of this stuff and was using it to season my new nail and I thought why not? The oil was hot, on my Mr. Coffee mug warmer and I put in a couple drops.

Immediately it kicked 2 things out in precipitate. One was a sandy, gritty material that filtered out and the second was a tiny "tar" ball that formed and was easily removed. The resulting filtered and purged oil is cleaner, easier to work with, and smells and looks much better. Gonna try it on the nail later and will let you know . . .

EDIT: Wow, this is amazing. I hit this oil and it looks better, tastes better, behaves better, performs better in the nail and also has a very nice effect. I am sold on d-limonene. Now if I can extract ABV with it . . . :hmm: Here is a pic lit from beneath:

Would the oil from the tamisium possibly gather more flavour from the buds/trim since it's left in butane for a longer time?

And how would you guys judge the oil you get from using the tamisium in terms of taste? Has switching to a more pure butane ( 99.0%n-butane and ^) have any noticible increases in your oils flavour, or potency?

    thanks for any replies!

I mostly hear taste being affected by the length cure of the material being ran. A fresher material will give you a more flowery taste a longer cure will be more hashy. If your running fresh material the colder the better so you can tie up the water as ice if possible this is where the thermos soak method or a dewar is useful.

But I too would be interested to hear if taste is increased by a longer solvent wash.

Deluxe with brass fittings, or Super Deluxe w/Stainless Steel?

Also, is it possible to use less plant material and more steel wool (as per the tutorial vids, or other filter material) if you want to run a smaller batch (sorry if this was covered...I did read through the entire thread but I could have missed it)?

    Helped much...thanks much.

Just ordered the Super Deluxe w/the Custom Fitting Install.

Bob do you use steel wool with smaller batches to fill the extra space, or should I be looking for another filter material?

Looking forward to it...like QTS I have a bunch of once run sitting here waiting to be my first attempt (after a canned tane cleanse).

Just got some o-ring grease, is there any other little miscellaneous items I will need when this lil' beast arrives?

a bike pump, shrader valve (from tami guy) and a vac pump and you should have all you need. a freezer big enough to hold the entire unit (if you plan on running sub zero for flowers). LARGE POT for holding column and extract tank. a good plastic or teflon scraper. everclear, 99% iso, or d-limonene. for getting all that hard to reach stuff. vac chamber, parchment paper also useful.

they don't make a smaller one, they do make a larger one, however. you can go on the cheap, and not get the additional case, laser temp gun, SS valves, etc. and keep it closer to a grand. but otherwise, it looks like ur holding a leaking bomb while peering over your shoulder for now.
