@stickstones @wolf1027 Kava can have different effects depending on the variety, but the common effects are most similar to cannabis, alcohol, and mushrooms. It's great for counteracting social anxiety, stress, and muscle tension. There's no real safety concern with quality kava today- the toxic chemical is only present in the parts of the plant that grow above ground, so it is simple to avoid contamination during production. All the major producers are now well aware of the issue, and I haven't heard of anyone having problems lately. Kava doesn't really work the first time you try it. Use it regularly to get the best effects, and remember the dose is important too. I've tried powder drink mixes, co2 extracts, and whole fresh frozen root. Although some experiences have been better than others, I've had luck with every type of preparation I've tried.
