So i have a cup full of 99% ISO that i use to soak my trimming scissors in. i have a regular trimming gig, so im always soaking the scissors...anyways, i really dont leave the alcohol to evaporate in the cup, i always add a liitle more iso and keep on using the same groady mixture. there is ALOT of dissolved scissor hash in that cup....then i stumble upon this thread. I just poured it through a coffee filter into a pyrex dish...and the wait is on. So once its all dried, im good to go, right? I dont want any ISO residue in my lungs... SO, just dry and use or is it better to heat up and aid evaporation. Does heating it up lead to a cleaner product?

i THINK (i am no pro at this yet) you could have just poured the mixture into a dish and skipped the filtering... the chucks, i have read, are good to vape as well. i did not filter the iso i used to soak my DBV wands in

every grain in there is organic matter that passed through your screen.

May I ask what the difference is?

Wouldn't filtered, condensed vapor be even purer oil than through other extractions?

Depending on where collected from, it is often higher in cbd/cbn...
vapes at higher temps, and can clog devices somewhat, as it is not the same as "Full Melt Hash"... "full melt concentrates" etc.... that are very "volatile" (fast to melt and of ultra thin viscosity).
This remains a bit thicker, and is not as volatile. Bag Volcano reclaims are some of the tastiest and best smelling I ever have had, and they collect for a very long time.
While reclaim oils work well and taste great they clog atomizers and other more modern devices faster as they thicken faster upon reduction.

    YES.. purer
NO.. not always easier to work with or vape

JeffP, didn't see anyone give you a heads up so I felt the duty to advise. That sticky hash you got can easily be vaped in your ssv without gumming up your screen. Vitolo has a suggested method in another thread that is proven successful. Simply take some 100% cotton(I pull mine off of qtips as I don't keep cotton balls in my house) put a small dab of the oil in the middle of the pulled cotton and roll the cotton up and stuff into your wand. You can turn your ssv's heater up some to get the sweet spot for your hash, the vape temp is generally a little higher(same with combusting hash, usually have to keep the flame trained on the hash to melt & smoke) so don't worry about going past where you normally dial in for your flowers to vape. I enjoy this method in my DBV Occasionally , sometimes I put the cotton in my Herbalaire and blow bags of vapor hash, other times I dab it on a hot glass nail bubbler.

Side note: I hope no one cleans & reclaims combustion resin with iso and then attempts to reuse that product. Gross toxins that contain little to no activates left worthy of consumption.

A quick question too: can I soak my Herbalaire's Teflon main fat transfer stick in iso for reclaim, or would the Teflon permanently absorb some of the iso like some plastics do? Right now I just turn my Herbalaire all the way up, put the fat transfer stick(can't think of anything better to call this part) on and without a bag or any material to vape in device, turn motor on and pump hot air through the stick to loosen oil, then use a stainless steel SSV pick to pull out as much oil as possible. This works for a little bit of cleaning, but I'd like to get it back to New White status. Any factual insight would be appreciated :)

i have glass bead sandblasting media that i use with Everclear for vape part cleaning. i don't bother saving it from the filter, just toss it with the filter and use fresh next time.

School me, why is it better to use the gold coffee filters as opposed to a regular fine strainer?

Dunno where you saw that, but I don't know... possibly to filter out plant matter? That would only matter if you intend to dab it off of a nail or skillet or something, if you're vaporizing it like flower or using it to top off, it wouldn't matter if it had the stray bits of plant matter in it. The other reason might be that the "gold" filters are brown untreated filters, as opposed to the bleached white filters.

    Good thread :)

I keep ABV, little leaves, hasch from grinder and ISO where I soak daily my glasses..... can I mix all with more ISO ?!
Or is it better to treat each matter separatly ?

THAT.... is a matter only you can determine.
Treating it as one, may weaken one specific treat you have going....
as seperate items, you have the pleasure of feeling the different effects.
    A matter of choice!

i have done reclaims twice. the first one i did not filter (strain) and it was a mixture of oil-like and harder dried up stuff. i scraped it into one big ball and i just vaped it all in my vapes.... MMMMMMM. the second reclaim run i did, i did filter and was left with just the oil like product. that i dabbed for like 2 or 3 days and enjoyed it all

i really don't have a connection for oils either... i tried some for the first time in 25+ years of enjoying the flowers and i loved it. so i have been experimenting with making my own. i am still just a padawan learner right now so i have a LONG way to go but reclaiming from my DBV and Solo wands is something i look forward to
