Herb Grinders

Almost there...
@steama I am also on the hunt for a new fine grind grinder and the Boomers one looks good!
It's in my cart but i will wait for your review!
The quest for my perfect grinder is driving me nuts!

I love/d my Kannastor Vape GR8TR until i snapped the plastic ring thingy and they have not had stock for many months now... They did however offer me a discount on a new grinder.
Now the grinding plate has started to unscrew while grinding giving me a coarser, uneven grind.

Then i bought the Magic Flight finishing grinder and it is awesome for bone dry buds, not so much for my sticky, icky bud i always have... So the hunt continues!

The Aerospaced GROOVE has me intrigued as well as the Dream Grinder!

Why is it so hard to fine a decent fine grind grinder?

Hmm… I'm not sure there's a way around NOT cleaning grinders ever. Certainly at least not with their current standardized design. I was going to suggest the lift may be easier to clean since it's has relatively minimal and flat parts. But it looks like you have it and hate it. lol

Maybe I'll look into some sort of grinder cleaning/maintenance kit?

@lazylathe - If they still haven't sent you one, I highly doubt they are going to.

They use the same factory we do in China so the actual manufacturing part is a fairly "hands off" approach. The little ring isn't a major component so we don't carry any extra stock on it. So I assume it's the same for them. Along with the fact that they are clearly giving you the run around… it's too bad the one I sent you didn't work.

Also - Shameless self-promotion, but our 30% off PushPress Sale ends tomorrow! So now's a good time to pick up some ID Gear if anyone is looking at it!

IMO the problem with this entire grinder industry is that even brilliant designs constantly try to up themselves for the sake of putting out a new design, not for the sake of performance.

SCS has not even kept their better/best features over the years, constantly changing functional teeth designs and patterns for the sake of "new design"... it is not always for the better.

Then it happened a couple of days ago while cleaning each tooth out of my SLX with a fucking toothpick being sure to get all the grooves on each tooth. I think I lost it for a moment. I gotta do something different. I will happily waste a hundred in the hopes that this will be something better.

Next up the walmart covfefe grinder. :p

A cheap hard bristled toothbrush dipped in ISO gets mine spotless in 30 seconds of vigorous scrubbing. If you could sharpen the covfefe grinders blades it may be an option but cleaning the kief out is a pain in the arse.

I like my grinders like I like my vapes. Durable, effortless & simple as fuck. That Boomers one does look like a bit of alright. I just suspect the freight costs would leave me near suicidal due to the weight. Still looking for my forever grinder.....

I am not really satisfied with ANY of the grinders I have, and I have most of the top end grinders. I don't like the fact that they all get gummy...even my SLX which is my fav gets too sticky for me to love. I am honestly sick and tired of cleaning a grinder every week with ISO and a tooth brush. That's just how grinding is you may say, but I think I may have found a better solution. I will know as soon as it arrives, but it has some design features that leave me hopeful this could be my grinder nirvana.

For me it is a bit of a gamble but I had some spending money from selling a few vapes.

Last week I tested out a bunch of plastic grinders with pyramid teeth and the best I could squeeze out was a medium grind. It was very difficult to achieve a fine grind. So that put my brakes on the boomer until a couple of days ago while cleaning/scrubbing my SLX I realized how much I hate the cleaning bull shit with grinders. I fucking HATE IT! So that got me thinking of Boomers Stainless Steel grinder again. The company says you can throw it in the dishwasher but what the hell does that mean? I have my doubts it won't also need an ISO scrub.

I started thinking about what a bitch it is to clean the gum out of every single tooth on an SLX or santa cruz shredder then it hit me! Most likely this stainless steel grinder will be way easier to clean because of the pyramid tooth design. The pyramid teeth do not have the grooves where all the gunk binds to the teeth. From the looks of it I think an ISO drenched tooth brush would make for much quicker, easier, cleaning.

I want something that grinds more and the need to clean less. The SLX was a step in the right direction but only a marginal step. Stuff still sticks and it is difficult to clean.

I've never had to clean my grinder after 2years of EXTREME USE! I was curious about the Grinder obsession since I've only ever bought a couple and only one I'd consider premium. I went to use my buddies Space Case as SCS to see the differences and ended up swaying him to buy a Cali Crusher. I personally probably wouldn't have been as meticulous as he was studying the differences in EVERY area. In the end of his extensive research he concluded he had to have one of mine. In all honesty i just wanted to see the differences. I had no intention of buying a new grinder regardless of the outcome because mine works. In respect to the other grinders he had he's one of those people with the Acquisition syndrome. However with the 5 grinders he already had he still said the Cali Crusher is a must have! Id love to hear from someone else's opinion on this but it seems I'm the only owner of one!! Just my:2c:

lol, just playin' but for the life of me I cannot figure out what kind of herb you could run through any grinder and not need to clean it in two years. I think you could possibly be full of shit with all due respect.

There is another option. You use your grinder in an extreme way then put it in your drawer for nearly two years, minus the two weeks you actually used it.

:brow:

Don't want to bust on anyone either, but was thinking the same. If I don't have to give my grinder at least a dry toothbrush every two weeks (like I like to do to recover whatever I can before monthly or so alcohol cleaning), I'm either not grinding or getting some crappy mexi-brick swag (which I don't!).

I usually give my grinders a good sweep with a good, small, stiff paintbrush I have after pretty much every grind. And, have a silicone bristled toothbrush nearby that is usually used weekly to give a good dry quick clean (sometimes 10 days/2 weeks). Even with all of this, both of my grinders still usually need a monthly traditional toothbrush with alcohol quick scrub.

If you try this, don't forget to clean the silicone dry toothbrush with the same alcohol monthly. Works well for this purpose, but needs cleaning regularly. And, have found these aren't too good for heavier scrubbing as teeth and holes will tear at the silicone. They're fine for a nice dust off, though.

it may come down to what a person thinks extreme use is -- room for different perspectives here
:lmao::rofl: I'll let you guys have this thead. You obviously have me mistaken:dog::tup:

Why won't you enlighten people on how you make it two years with out needing to clean your grinder. What are you doing that the rest of us are not? If you have been reading the posts you know many of us would benefit from and appreciate your knowledge. I know I would. Please share your secret @Cannabis Connoisseur how to make it two-years without needing to clean your herb grinder.

How do you do it?
I use one grinder. I use about 7gs of herb a day about 2gs of concentrates a day. On the weekends more. That's me and my wife combined. I dont know whats considered a dirty grinder to you guys, but I don't recall ever having to clean it. Right now herb strains I have Gorilla Glue#4 (heavy residual), Sour Og, Grape Jelly Donuts, Sunset Sherbet, & Blue Cookies. I only deal in Top Shelf and all of my Strains are SC LABS certified. My previous Grinders would gunk up this one hasn't. I only came in this thread to see what was going on. I go on threads on FC and contribute my :2c: where I think it could possibly help. I noticed no one here had one my type of grinder and decided to share. I didn't mean to derail the thread with what seems to be Tall Tales. Anyone on FC who knows me also knows my word is just that. Have a good day gentleman, i most certainly don't want to come across as a fanboy for a grinder.:lmao: Especially when Im not benefited in any way!

For the world is hollow and I have touched the sky
I use a small stiff paintbrush to meticulously brush my grinder out every once in a while. I make sure to get the teeth and holes pretty often. I brush out the threads and screen less often. I haven't had to clean my grinder yet (besides washing it with dish soap before first use). It's seen many ounces of pretty decent weed through it since I've had it. Not always Colorado or California top-shelf quality, but still good nugs. There's a little bit of buildup in certain spots around the edge of the lid and in the teeth area, but nothing significant in any way. I suppose if I wanted my grinder microscopically clean I would need to wash it with ISO or something. I've just never felt the need to.

I'm still not exactly sure what you mean about metal banging on metal. What are you doing when this happens? How does this happen? What pieces are you baking together? How hard are you banging the pieces together?

Idk man the metal on metal banging is Savage tho. If your spending some money on a good grinder I feel like you should be able to tap it together to unstick some stubborn leaves without the risk of denting or scratching.. just a thought

I tap mine against the gel bit on my mousepad...

@InterplanetaryTanner I guess just tapping both bits of the grinder together to knock out any stuck bits

banging my grinder halves together doesn't worry me at all, I don't hit any "mating" edges together so teeth will never hit any object other than bud. only outer surfaces ever make contact when I "bang" and I definitely could care less if it gets any visible marks from doing so. if I wasn't into fancy colors maybe it would other me, but the plain jane silver is my go to.

Wow. We are seriously concerned about this and are here to help. For consistency, the pieces are always machined together. Generally we can match one piece to another with no issues. It is possible the machining can cause a slight minor difference, but it sounds that it's a big difference. Can you send some pictures to my space case email? Thanks!

Hey did you recieve my email ok Noel? Just checking because i never heard anything or got a confirm you have my photos ok. Sadly im sitting with a big ole pollen base of no use to me. I wish i could find someone to make use of this but sadly there is a big mis match of color in this and my titanium.

Does anyone else remember who has a purple hue space case? I remember the post but not the person it would be cool to see the difference in mine and his. I guess it is more akin to purpleish gunmetal than pure black.

honestly I guess ive never noticed an increase in friction from the grinder hashy walls, I just keep on rambling on. @steama it really is crazy to see the differences in the routines of others, I could never let the gummy walls bother me, however the kiefy threads I always seem to get on 3 or 4 piece grinders, irritates the shit out of me, especially when you see the colors from the threads coming off. and this is SCS, SC, and Sharpstone.

one thing that is seriously a pet peeve of mine is I load the smaller "male" half of the grinder, and it seems the "outtie" magnet is always on the other "female" half. the open spot where the magnet goes when grinder is closed, bud can get trapped in there, then you are sandwiching bud between the magnets. it would be harder to do so if the outtie was on the male side..

fuck I hope that made sense?

That gum will get you high, it vapes well (sandwiched between bud) too. The only issue is removal...

@lazylathe
I really want a big heavy grinder, the Mendo Mulchers look good but I am very intrigued by one with 'classic' pyramid teeth. Let us know how it is!

I've never had the outside rim get caked up like that but only grind 1oz to 1 1/2oz a month, I do ISO and bush out around the teeth every 4-5 months and it all seems to stay clean to me.
