Discontinued Ghost MV1

"The MV1 is push-button-potency in a pocketable form. Great for catching a quick buzz and moving on."

... meaning, on-demand (vs. session)? :brow:

You're talking about taking multiple hits or sips, microdoser scale, separated in time, with full cool down in between, from the same crucible? Not the @ohmygodimsohigh use case, but an interesting one.

Only really ever achieved that with the (deeply flawed) grasshopper + wide mouthed PFE, which exposes the material chamber to ventilate at room temperature.

With the crucible held in the innards, I would suppose it doesn't work as well on the Ghost? Wouldn't you have to open the chamber and remove the hot crucible lid for similar ventilation?

You can get nicely flavored, efficacious second and third hits after full cool down on the grasshopper ... assuming it doesn't go off like fireworks in your pocket, flash red and blue like a police car, singe your lips, melt your soft palate, drive you batty with the infernal sound of the clicky click, throw out your thumb knuckle joint, taunt you like a brick in the shape of a pen, or show up on Google maps at the grasshopper repair facility or "in transit" with FedEx.

No, why should it be? :hmm: I use the default values & step up levels as I said in my above post.

Not a repetitive stress sufferer I guess, @Summer ? (The grasshopper, by the way, ranks worst vape for RSI in this history of the known universe). It's not comfortable for me to click up and down for temperature stepping on the Mighty. Ghost seems worse?

I'll wire almost anything into my cellphone, but not a weed vape.

Wish someone would bring back the concept of the dial, aka the analog potentiometer, with a nice big temperature indicator. Always thought the display on the Boundless CFX was cute.

Concentrates are heat level 5. Stickstones & AJS posted a few posts up about concentrates. Also try doing a search in this thread for 'concentrates' & you'll get 4 pages of posts to review.

What does this even mean?
When I wrote my post Ii looked like I was tagging onto someone elses post.

The only "work" terp chasing is pushing more buttons than you should have to change temps. App is better, if you're app guy or gal, but it can be weird about connecting sometimes. Reboot app or reinstall worse case.

MV1 v. FW5? Just curious as it's more of a apples to apples comparison?
Yup, I find manually changing the temp a little annoying on the MV1 personally. I wish there were temp controls via dedicated buttons and not the hold down, hold down again, press more buttons to cycle sequence. The app is okay for it, but I'm not a huge fan of having to use that either. If I'm feeling lazy, I just put it on red 1 or 2 and cook the crap out of it at the expense of taste and some of the lower temp terps.

Putting the temp control before the battery indicator is a needed change on this thing, and I hope they have something else up their sleeve for making it a little more convenient. It's like my CFX or Flowermates... why the heck do I need to press the power button FIVE times to turn it on. You guys didn't think to do say just two or three presses, or a hold sequence?!?! Nope, gotta click that mofo five times lol.

If you have any confusion or doubt at all about the heat up buzz, please look at the lights. I can’t say this loudly enough - the lights are perfectly clear and never confuse...but are also never mentioned!

Scrolling side to side means heating up.

All three flashing green means you should be hitting it.

Ok, this is what I originally though. Still no luck with any vapor at all. I have tried different grinds for the crucible but nothing changes. I wish I was missing something......
I had seemed to have better luck with a tighter packed crucible, then, nothing....the inconsistency is strange to say the least.

I received my MV1 today. I got the festive bundle from an authorised dealer in the UK. It's on charge through the fast charger.

I don't want to put a downer on this but one thing which will be handy for other users to know is that the wall wart (transformer/power supply) only has the USA style pins on. Most other products I buy now have changeable plates that will fit the country of choice. This one doesn't. It's not a deal breaker for me.

I'm pretty proficient with electronics and have a solution in place BUT for the average Joe it's going to be worth noting that you need an adaptor which converts USA plugs to whatever electrical outlet you are using. It's slightly disappointing giving the price of this fast charger - like I say mine was part of a bundle. This may change but for now it's something that's worth keeping in mind if you live outside the USA and really want that fast charger. You won't be able to use it without that.

The voltage is universal - 100-240 volts so you don't need a step down transformer.

@ghostvapesofficial can you confirm this is correct? I'm really surprised and even more surprised I haven't read anyone else having issues.

We could go through the usual stuff here, but I think you'll get better results starting a CS ticket with Ghost. Their service is top notch and they have the latest knowledge to pull from. Drop them a line...

@stickstones

Thanks for the comment above re microdosing. 0.05 gram would be a perfect load for me. I'm more about being conservative with my material than the full extraction in one hit.

I'll probably check back in tomorrow, about an hour left of charging. Feel like a big kid now.

Yeah so.....I couldn't wait. Battery charged in just over 2 hours - 2 hours 7 minutes with the fast charger.

I again did minimal efforts to 'burn off' I put it on concentrate mode with some avb and did a few mouth pulls, the taste of the factory on the vape was quite potent as it came through, probably the most I've noticed but I do feel like I have been quite lucky. So yeah a pew pulls on concentrate mode - trying my best not to let it go in to my lungs but still some went in. More like the reverse of trying to blow to get a fire going because I was cautious about overheating (especially in concentrate mode). This may not be the best technique - medicinal users I'd definitely say NOT to do the mouth pulls. Is there any sort of manual pump that people could use when doing this?

Full crucible, light tamp. First hit was an absolute dream. Amber 1, stardawg. I feel like I''ve never actually tasted anything up until this point. Hints of actual grass along with the taste of the smell of my herb. 2nd hit not quite as tasty but if I can get that taste on the first go every time then I can definitely see why this has had all the hype.

I'm really sad that people have had problems with this product now. I guess I'll have some frustrations. It's still early days yet.

Thank you all again for your input and the information on here. I haven't got through everything. I probably never will entirely now but I like to read this forum when I get a minute and I get alerts when people post so I can chip in now.

@kohr I now own both, I really love the taste of the ghost. On my 3rd crucible right now, one thing I can see is how easy it is for the lid on the crucible to gunk up, I'm cleaning them with the s&b brush after each use. It's just going to have to be a habit - if you ever use the dosing caps in the mighty its a similar experience in the way of fiddling around filling them and then trying to get the lids on without squishing them. If you just use the mighty as it is then I can see there's going to be a lot more maintenance required.

Wow. I've set F1 - the 1st red on the app to 284f. That's the lowest it can go. I used some lavender and that's very tasty. I even got a little bit of vapour which I wasnt expecting
Happy vaping!

I'm so glad you got yourself a bundle and I am sorry that you are disappointed with the fast charger. On our Ghost website, it is noted to our international customers that an adapter is required for the fast charger. If you could PM me and let me know who the UK dealer is, I can make sure that it is communicated on their website.

Thanks!

Re the above - the information is on the sites and on the site I bought my mv1 but not on the page where the bundle is being sold. I guess if I'd read more then I would have known but I didn't really expect to be buying the fast charger so didn't read in to it much - just a little bit over my price range. A REAL BARGAIN in the festive bundle.

Excellent communication and customer service from Nerissa.

I had an issue upgrading the firmware. Was staring at my phone for best part of an hour and the app just said preparing to update with the orange lights flashing on my unit.

I'm pretty sure it's because my phone is android and fairly old.

The first time I tried I eventually quit the app and took the battery out. Left it for a few minutes and put the battery back in. Pressed the mode button and it immediately started flashing with the orange lights again. I thought 'here we go - bricked unit' I would have come on here to eat humble pie.

I left this alone for a few minutes and eventually the lights went off and I was able to use the unit as normal - without the app.

I tried again with my android phone (Sony z3 quite a few years old) similar results. Probably didn't wait as long 2nd time. Half an hour? Still no joy. App stuck on preparing to update.

Went in the house. Grabbed an ipad mini 1 (already had the app downloaded out of curiosity) this was a lot quicker at pairing and because the Mv1 had tried to update and failed the new firmware got installed straight away before any other functions were available (I guess this is firmware recovery and it's on the ghost vapes support page). I was happy that this happened and that process was completed in 5-10 minutes. Probably closer to 5 but I wasn't timing and it wasn't like I was waiting around for it to respond - there's plenty of visual feedback on the app.

I'd be cautious about just pulling the battery out of the vape when trying to update but if you ever get stuck like I did this information might be helpful. I think any future updates I do will be through the ipad. Just for peace of mind.

Not liking MV1 a ton so far for concentrates. It's not bad, not great, but it's alright.

For shatter, I get some great flavor during the initial melts followed by decent clouds but hits aren't always fully satisfying. I feel like I have to use a good amount to get the satisfying results I want. It would be more efficient in some hemp fiber with other vapes or in a rig.

The distillate is seeming to work better. Very thick flavor and some decent clouds when I coat the pad more, but still more concentrate than I'm used to using.

Either way, I'm glad the option is there. It couldn't be my sole form of concentrate use, but having a concentrate/herb vape in 1 package when I go on vacation is pretty damn nifty.

Hello to all!

One question without trying to cause problem with the thread. Someone who owns both which one is finally better? Ghost MV1 or Haze Square?

Konstantinos,

Summer

@AJS, all the reviewers, like PIU, will tell you that it's really not a concentrate vape. Flower is where it shines. But as you said, for the convenience of taking just 1 vape on vacation, it's good enough.

@Konstantinos, you asked a more detailed question about a comparison between the Ghost & Haze in the Haze thread, so I flagged a member over on that thread to see he can help you. :)

What is the correct way to turn it off?

I assume that you mean if it gets stuck in update mode? Well, from what I've read & personally experienced, taking out & reinserting the battery does nothing, it still stays in update mode. From what I've read, just leave it to run for however long it takes until it resets itself which I hear it does. If it doesn't take, remove the battery & open up a CS ticket on the website. @ghostvapesofficial, maybe you have more input on this than I.

MV1 is pretty close to twice the price (more if you buy a fast charger and extra battery) of a Haze square.

@AJS are you unable to use your 510 devices for concentrates?

@Summer , yes I did hoping to find someone to help. Thank you for spoting my question :)

@sickmanfraud , Ghost is in offer bandle including the fast charger and the crucibles dispenser. I like both vapes and I follow all the reviews and comments for long time. But I need to be over with a vape and stop buying more. If you see my message on the Haze thread from the vapes I own Fury 2 is my best but I am tired of charging it that often. Thank you anyway for your response! :)

One question about charging the ghost. For the users who don't have the fast charger, can a smartphone one do the job? Of course charging on the vaporizer...

Was too bulky to bring the necessary tools on this vacation, tried to keep it simple. Plus I got distillate, carts, shatter, flower .... I'm already pretty spoiled on this vacation. Did I mention we have an island to ourself? It's nice :)

Happy holidays everyone

Most vapes are 5 clicks on, 5 clicks off. How do I turn it off?

Three clicks will toggle it between sleep mode and ready mode. In sleep mode, none of the buttons respond, but the bluetooth is still on (this is being addressed). If you want to turn the bluetooth off, for now you need to physically disconnect the battery.

Well.... Ghost was great at getting me a replacement for the broken latch. Great Customer service.

The Latch Just broke on the replacement.
This is even more upsetting as I have literally babied the latch since getting it.
Is my usage of 3-5 crucibles a day considered excessive for this "medical vaporizer"?

Now I'm recovering from surgery, less than a week before Christmas, with no way to medicate.
Don't get me wrong. I understand it my problem, and my fault for only currently having one device.
I just find it disappointing that at the price of this unit, I expected better quality parts. My only complaint, other than the latches breaking, is the wobbly mouthpiece that moves around way to much. The movement can have a drastic impact on the draw.

Yep. Depending on where the mouthpiece is leaning (which varies continuously throughout a hit) I hear and feel different amounts of airflow coming in. Removes the consistency from the device, which removes a big aspect as to why I prefer certain vapes.
