Maybe they're backed up with NEW orders, manufacturing issues, who knows what, ..., not defective unit repairs ... doesn't indicate anything about being backed up because of defective units ...

I was talking to customer service, he made it clear that replacing defective units was basically all they do, also, when I asked why my unit was not checked in until wednesday, even though it got there at 10 am on monday, and was told tuesday it was checked in, he explained that they have more units to replace then they could really handle. Not new orders, although they might have a lot of those, these guys couldn't even keep track of my unit. When I asked if they even knew where it was, he goes we just have so many units coming back, its crazy, but I assure you we will find it and your new unit will ship friday.

Well the giant jump in rma numbers would definitely indicate being swamped with defective units.

The Ascent was heavily anticipated and missed the original launch date. We have no idea how many were eventually delivered, but it's a good bet there were lots of them. We have no idea what percentage of those are being returned, but we do know that DaVinci adopted a liberal policy towards returns when the first batch had several different issues. It's safe to say that their return rate is fairly high at the moment, but we don't know how many of those are from the original problem batch. We also don't know how many people DaVinci have handling returns, and we don't know what the procedure is or how long it would take someone. All we know is that someone told you they were swamped, something I have no trouble at all believing.

All of which is to say that we have no context for that statement and drawing any conclusions based on it would be foolhardy.

What a nice idea for a vape...I really wish other companies would have offered this type of customization.

I like the idea of truly custom covers, the kind you download? You could make your ascent look like a small McDonald's milk shake?

Or maybe make it look like your beard, so from a distance it looks like you're stroking your beard, not hitting a vape? I guess that wouldn't work as well for the women......

Maybe replace the outer body with OLED screens? They you could make the appearance dynamic, the guys watching you, waiting for you to pass it, could have something interesting to watch......maybe CNN? You could have a panic button on it that would call up car seat cover camo for when the cops show up in the mirror. Push the button and drop it on the seat to disappear. Or maybe it comes up looking like old burger wrappers and napkins and stuff and you just toss it into the corner of the floor where you've got a very convincing pile of litter built up to complete the disguise?

This has possibilities........

I received my Ascent about 4 weeks ago. I only use it about 2-3 times/week, Fridays and weekends, and so far no problems. Just taking my time with figuring out which temp setting works for me the best. I seem to get a good hit around 360F. The battery life is ok, not the greatest.

What's up guys I've been following the ascent thread for a while now and finally decided to make an account seeing the problem I'm having everyone else is having too. I ordered my Ascent (Burl Wood) about a month ago and up until yesterday had no problems at all. I plugged it in to charge and the charging icon didn't appear, I left it charging for 3 hours but it was completely dead when I tried to turn it on. Haven't been able to contact DaVinci yet to send it in due to the holidays.

i found this today while i was messing around on davinci's site. don't know if anyone has seen it
It has been said from the beginning that the initial launch would be with limited models/styles. I, for one, am holding my breath for the aforementioned see-though Steampunk style.

Yeah, calm your jets... Let's get the issues ironed out first.

@King was nice enough to let me use his 18mm U-Water Tool Adapter.

Impressed with the results. :ko:

Who has actually measured how the battery life is on the ascent? I mean, writing down the temp, duration and number of sessions?
I always forget to time it :-) and I'm just curious, with the battery meter that goes to half during operation and being full again on startup of the second session.

hey Belgianvapor I've made the same experience with my burlwood ascent. it hasn't failed me yet but even after a full charge the battery indicator drops to say 80% after one session where it's been heating for maybe 4-5 minutes. subsequently it drops to say 15% after the 3rd session which equals about 15-20 mins in total. unless those indicated 15% last for another two and a half hours I doubt I would get 3 hrs operation out of a charge and has me wondering whether it's going to die on me.

how did yours behave in the meantime?

I happily still have a working stealth unit, touch wood. As a first vape it is great and seems to be getting better as I learn to load it and what temps work for me.

I have just dunked 3 pretty grimy stems in some iso. I'm just wondering how I would best go about getting the reclaim and then can I vaporise it? Thanks

To avoid a derail, allow me to point you to our thread for this: How to clean vape parts and reclaim resin. Happy gooeyness. :ko:

To be honest I didn't actually measured it untill empty, but I come close to 2 hours of usage at least,
I posted some results a few pages back with different loads, diffent temps and multiple sessions.
It's just the battery meter that's a bit wonky, when you don't have a battery problem I suspect you should get a good 2 hours and more from it.

So, I was told to call davinci this morning (again), they proceeded to say sorry a lot, and assured me that my unit would be absolutely shipping out today, he guaranteed that by 5pm cst the very latest, I would have an email confirming my unitnhad shipped, its been past then for a while now, and suprise suprise, my unit has not shipped. Disputing my charge now with the CC company..

Just wrote the "please start my return" email. Will they take a return if it's been used a couple of times? I hope so. It only seems fair since I feel like I've been poisoned a little bit by the fumes from this thing.

I got it 2 days ago and I think I have almost all the problems. The smell is unbearable. Air leaks. Panel falling off. Off-gassing like crazy. Battery seems to die really quick. It seems to get too hot, turning the product almost black at 200C.

I have it about 5 feet away from me on a table and i can smell it from here.

I have the burl with the 1aa1 serial number, if that means anything.

I am disappointed that it doesn't work, and I am even more disappointed that I sold my solo to a friend the day the ascent shipped. I have an EQ at home, but I am trying to go completely combustion free. The solo wasn't quite portable enough, but I will have to compromise since vapor quality turns out to be the most important factor for me.

Off to order a new solo. Sadness.

I had to return my ascent recently, they will take it back but you must clean the shit out of it to ensure there is no illegal trace material, as you are responsible for anything that you ship. Also, they will tell you to only ship the unit and charger, you don't need to send any of the glass so you really just need to clean the bowl really well with ISO. I also think they will only give you a new unit, the only way they will just give you a refund is if the unit arrived totally DOA. If they won't refund you can prob dispute the charge with your credit card company.

Finally I have received my first vaporizer Ascent Stealth and i have tested it last night first time. It was amazing experience. I was higher than before and it lasted very long(3 hours) . I started with 380F and Went up to 392F. Thats unbelievable that I had no cough, very smooth inhales, very nice taste of herb... I will never go with combustion again. I feel regret that why didnt i vape until now..And I can't believe i wake up easier, without any cough and laziness. Vaping is my favorite from now and I can say that i love my Ascent for now.

OK, I must be missing something here. If we want to know the volume of the bowl (cylinder) isn't there a standard formula: Volume=(pi)(radius squared)(height)?
Measure Ascent bowl and Solo stem bowl (or whatever). Compare.
Of course doesn't account for factors like grind, dryness, etc.

Got the Solo, so if someone wants to send me an Ascent I'll do the measurements!
The oil cases are the same outer volume as the heating chamber. Drop one in a displacement beaker and measure the increase.

just see that I've missed that post of yours. dug it up. gives me an idea of what to look out for. I guess I'll just have to let it die with no charging to see how far I get on a charge. guess it's just the pessimistic battery meter that's sparking suspicions of a defective unit

Ah, I see someone is actually reading the thread, to be answering a question from page 6.
:)

The wiki page has the bowl dimensions on it.

If I do the maths correctly, I believe it to be 2.1 cm^3.

Oh, that reminds me: I never did a salt test on the Ascent as I couldn't find my bloody scale. Of course, now that I bought another one, I've now found my original. :p I'll try to do it this weekend.

We've discussed this before, but don't think the battery indicator reads like a gas tank in showing actual %, but more like a trip calculator that shows you "X more kilometers before empty." (The latter can show great fluctuations, predicate upon usage.)

I wouldn't take the batt indicator as too exact... more like a rough approximation.
