try searching for o-ring posted by OF in this thread and you will find your answer

So that's what all that O Ring talk was about! That entire time I thought it something GonG related (Too medicateD). Thanks for pointing that out to me thought. All that O ring talk makes a lot more sense now.

Since I got my Solo, the stem fit really tight in the chamber and barely moved around at all. It's gotten slightly looser over time (stem moves around inside of it), but when I loaded it up today I noticed it was significantly looser than ever before.

Today the stem would slide out with almost no resistance and spin around a little bit whenever I picked up the unit. It would not fall out if I held it upside down though.

Any ideas on how to make the fit more secure? I dont know if this is the same problem dreamerr and other people were talking about a few pages back or if they were talking about a differernt setup.
You remove the top cap, and you will notice the teflon ring that was once "flush" is now a bit expanded.
You can turn the unit upside down, and place it flat against a hard surface and apply pressure... it will "re-seat" the teflon ring for a more snug fit.
I have heard of folks using the back of a spoon against the teflon ring.... it makes the hole tighter.. stem will fit well.

For anyone who has used whole nugs in the solo, how big of a nug do you pack in there? enough to fill the bowl up completely?

I did what you said Vito (also saw that advice earlier in the thread) but I can't seem get it to make a difference. I did notice the teflon ring move down a little bit but it's hard to say if they have improved at all (maybe its worse, stems just slide out now) I could also not get it to come off the unit but maybe I was doing that wrong too.

Perhaps the retaining ring has simply worn away very quickly. I have used it at least 3 times a day since I got it, usually more, so I wouldn't be surprised if I wore some of it off.

Should the solution be add an O Ring onto the stem or chamber then?

Yes , enough to fit .
Too small and you'll get too much air .
I've squeezed/molded a bigger one to fit in also .
To each his own , don't forget to flip the nug , or break it down into grinds for further vaping .

It's not a ring as such, it's a seal in well in the cover of the oven. You can rotate it within the cover if you try.

It doesn't 'wear away', it gets soft when hot and pushed out some. As it's intended to. You don't notice any wear patterns, scratches or debris do you?

Dreamer used to wait until it was soft (like after a step 7 session) and use the end of the stem to press the seal inward (denting the rim) in 3 places. IIRC that would work for a few days or a week depending.

Yes, the ring adventures are intended to address this issue. Be careful, there are two covers, the thicker one will not safely screw down on the ring without stressing the tabs on the bottom. You want it half a turn or so from just making solid contact. Also, be advised that the ring will improve the seal, making the draw stiffer, the reason I'm messing around with notches in the ring.

I did it with a back end of a tweezer but you were close OF. The o-ring will loosen with use as well so no notches needed unless you can't wait. My stem is loose now but it won't fall out but can be easily turned or taken in and out. I think maybe I vape to much .

Just wondering if anyone else has used the solo with a vaporblunt 2.0 hydratube (anyone of the four). I have used mine with the double shower head tube and noticed that it does not seem like a perfect 18 to 18 fit. I think the vb water tool is a little bigger than 18 or else my gong is a little off...

@Krizzle

The PN WT does not look top heavy at all as someone previously posted. How heavy is the beast Zangano? Is it a bitch to clean or just fill with Iso and shake? Thanks in advance

Hey Krizzle, I have several small A/Cs and J-hook MPs, all work great and give me enough diffusion and smoothness to like them all.
IMO the PN WT + mod or stock GonG stem make it perfect for me:
Small and easy to conceal. Stealth. Small volume so you don't need to clear, keep it always attached till stem load is cashed. If you drop it and you don't break it it's just a spit of water :) You don't need to rush to clean the mess. You can always cap on the go and avoid refill. Looks kind of sturdy and IMO looks pretty cool. Everyone that hold it is like impressed with the little beast.
Some cons, $$$$ no cheap, unstable without a base. You always need to hold it and keep an eye on first timers. Explain that it drips if you tilt it. If you are careful for a glass piece without base, IMO this is perfect.
Enjoy and stay vaped my friends :)

Edit: I have a wide mouth mason jar, my guess is a liter, I have it always full of ISO. Let gooey stems and PN WT etc etc to soak. Use free mini plastic brushes from Nordstrom make up section :) for gunked up situations. Thx @Pappy very useful brushes.
Finally I use PBW to clean everything. Thx @t-dub for good info at Glass subforum.

I guess this is something you just gotta live with when you vape so often

Thanks for the help guys.. i forgot the potpourri bowl is smaller than the other stems, so when I put an actual stem in it did fit better.

gold all in my chains...dont believe me just watch
just curious...out of all you people with solos, who has kept their solo in rotation (used at least ~once every ~3 sessions) for the longest time?

does it ever get old/boring? do u ever feel the need to switch it up for the same situation (im not talking about switching to a volcano for a party-setting, for example)?

i was hype about the ascent & stuff but im wondering if i really need any other vape...i can see myself using this thing forever (im not lucky enough to use it daily, but i dont see any need for another vape...i also have a mflb tho)...

so who has owned one for the longest time?

and who has regularly used theirs for the longest time?

its been about a month for me...

Get yourself a PA, search OF posts.
I tried several vaporizers, and Solo rules in my world.
Stay vaped my friends :)

definitely not a ring
jEZmZEv.jpg

the thin part is actually the top so you can see how it could deform and stretch out easily when heated over time. you can see on mine where I tried to push it back down but I finally used an o-ring instead of pushing it back down all the time. I'm betting with a little handy box cutter work those with the fat cap could get it to screw all the way on by trimming back the stock seal. I probably won't risk it but I don't see why it wouldn't work

on a side note, anyone thinking about doing that or just trying to get to the seal I had to take the whole top apart to get to the seal so don't think you can just pry it out after you unscrew the metal cap

Any tips on the best way to reclaim the honey from the stem? I've seem a video a few pages back on torching the stem for a couple hits which looked kinda cool.
Any other ways?
Starting to get a fair build up and it just sits there teasing me.

I just noticed a 510 drip tip fits into the solo stem just a hair loose...I wonder if I could get a fatter oring on the 510 drip tip I could use them the way ataxian uses them.

EDIT: i made something just like it....

I used Teflon tape to make up the difference.
Today I will go to the SMOKE SHOP and find a CHILLIN that fits more snug.
The orifices are various sizes.
I do love the flavor and effect achieved!

samirfuzzywuzzy: how do you like it?

Shrink tubing. Works great.

Shrink tubing works great for some things but I do remember in school they said it does "off gas". I work with Shrink tube often and its down fall is that it cracks if it gets dry to often and also the smell of it is not pleasant....just wouldn't work for me on a daily basis.
