Volute of Vapor
I strongly disagree about taste.
I think you apply your flame too close to the cap. I find vapcap taste is cleaner than vapman taste (and for me vapman is very very good, in radiation conduction side of the force,I mean taste) and I use the click to drive the heating process.
I too can charr a load in one hit if I heat the cap with inner flame (with a single torch) and taste is as you describe it (nasty, near combustion). If I use the torch a little far away (the outer lighter flame touching the cap) than it is impossible the one hit extraction (if you stop heat at the click) but taste and effects are way better for me (I use a lot less material too)

That being said to each one his taste and preferences but I feel I have to disagree about that statement (being the worst tasting portable)

Yes maybe i'm a bit lazy and roll it between fingers while heating for a long time is a bit "awkward"...although i understand what you are telling to me!

I agree it's not terrible tasting at all. However, I think Vapman tastes better. My test is sucking on the Vapman with nothing in it vs sucking on the Vapcap OG with nothing in it. I can taste the silicone mouthpiece interfering with the flavor in the Vapcap. After using the Vapcap a bit, you can sort of stop noticing the silicone taste, which is good, but also a little scary if that thing is offgassing at all. Just my opinion.

Your thumb and forefinger should fit nicely on the end of the silicone mp while you roll it around. That's the upside to the silicone mp.

There are a couple things that stand out to me since using the vapcap for a few days. The first is that this is the only vaporizer I've ever used that I can hit without any hands. I mean obviously you need hands when heating it, but when actually hitting it I can just hold it with my teeth. Made it especially easy to use while playing video games. I heat it while I'm dead, then when I respawn I grip it with my teeth and hit it while playing.

The other thing that stands out is that it really feels like hitting a cigarette. I think this is the most aesthetically pleasing and fun to use vaporizer I have.

Yes this seems something, i reckon I never try an empty hit, and i did not get that silicon taste in normal use (i did charr first loads and give alcool bath very soon (two in one day :-). Since some use is passed, as you said, I cannot smell it now.

The thing about VM taste for me is the middle section getting gunked with oils and if you burn or char a load the bad smell take longer to be covered and acetone bath is the only way to lessen it (never as clean as a vapcap passed in alcool bath) but the vc moutpiece seems effectively not as heat "friendly" as vm pom mouth piece seems to be.

Hopefully a wooden mouthpiece will make surface soon, hopefully wood will be only in contact with lips and vaporpath will stay totally cleanable easily.

To be honest I love my VMs very much too (I have two of them) but the middle section getting gunked add a strong smell to the vapor, not bad but as I prefer a clean glass stem to a used one, the same here.

BTW best wishes to you all

As my mind has been churning the past few days regarding the thermal challenges some of the wood stems are experiencing I thought I would post a picture of another configuration available with the new modular Vap system. The Ti tip from the Ti Woody will fit onto the same glass tube as an original VapCap. Put in a glass condenser the same diameter as the SS one in the Ti Woody and what is it?

A Ti Glassy.

20151229_234301_zps0rsqamg1.jpg

Nothing in the air path except glass, the Ti tip with ceramic screen and a tiny little ss retainer ring.

I would really appreciate feedback as to whether this design would be of interest. The ss condenser would work too. Yes the glass can break, but it is also in expensive. And it still fits in the DynaStash too.
Ridiculously easy to clean, put the entire thing in solvent, no problem.

Cheers,

George

I want one exactly like this as my first vapcap, if you have any available let me know :)

@VapCap My only concern here is that those little red silicone O-rings might burn/offgass due to how close they will be to the torch. I imagine the temps could get high enough for them to be affected.

Also when will you have the new mouthpieces available for the OG Vapcaps? Is it possible to make a wood or POM plastic mouthpiece for the OG Vapcaps?

Those red silicone O-rings are rated to withstand up to 450°F. I would think as long as you're not actively trying to overheat the VapCap they would be fine...

Mine is here, gorgeous African Blackwood with an amazing special zebrawood stash (will return with photos)

Looks like there's a new steel band on the wood stem @VapCap? Unfortunately mine still seems to have cracked a bit by the Ti tip, one long hairline crack in that color before the steel band. Noticed it after like 4 or 5 back to back bowls I did to break it in.

Doing many more bowls now and still figuring it out, as others said, learning curve ofcourse. Mostly just light effects no clouds (but fantastic taste), non dark avb even. Almost combusted on one somehow though, and then the last one finally got visible clouds with puffing. Still have experimenting to do with pack, heating, and carbing, though I've tried a lot already at least once. Gonna try some bubble too, I'm sure I'll get it running smoothly soon enough

Hope cleaning isn't an issue with the slight crack. Certainly seems cosmetic as of now, and nothing unexpected here. It's a nice little portable, super tiny and precision cut beautiful

Happy New Year!
I sure hope 2016 is the year of the micro vaporizer!

I thought I would follow up with an update on the Ti Woody. It seems there were a few Ti Woodies that decided to crack under pressure to perform. This is a first generation product as many of you know, so I guess this is one of those developmental challenges. I will stand behind my product, so if anyone has an issue with it, please do contact me. This is very important as I really need happy customers, and even more important, I need to know and understand why and what is causing problems so I can work on solving them.
So, here is the first change in the Ti Woody. I have added an additional high temp oring at the wood Ti interface. This should help reduce the transferred heat form the Ti tip. It also cushions the wood just a bit more. On the inside, what isn't visible, I increased the spacing between the Ti and the I.D. of the wood. This should help again reduce the heat transfer as well as provide more room for thermal expansion.
Wow, who would have thought there would be so much development and engineering needed to make a cigarette sized exothermal vaporizer?

Here is another version. As I am working out the details on the modular VAS (Vaporizer Accessory System)
sorry, I couldn't resist. This is a glass stem with SS condenser and Ti tip. Very thermally stable, super easy to clean and well, somewhat interesting to look at. The SS condenser will accumulate some pretty good solventless extracts which will be able to be dispensed from the condenser using many of the available dabbing tools.
I will be offering PyroVap style SS vaporization media (screen) for use with any VapCap to help hold concentrates where they belong, in the vaporization chamber.
Another thought on that. If you notice, the airflow design of all the Vaps I make flows away from the mouthpiece helping direct any misguided vapor back toward the vaporization chamber. This helps keep everything where it belongs and minimizes waste.

Another update. I should expect to have the next generation mouthpieces here about January 15. I mentioned before, but it is worth mentioning again. Everyone who has bought any VapCap may have a free new mouthpiece. I will also include replacement orings if you need them. I would appreciate you helping me cover the shipping cost, but the mouthpiece is free and anything else you would like would ship in the same package at no additional cost.
Even though this (the VapCap) is one of the lowest cost vaporizer on the market, I still stand behind it and believe that with a little care, this inexpensive unit which is almost disposable priced, can and will last a very long time, maybe even longer than many of the electronic units out there.

In chomping on the vapcap to hold it in my teeth I cracked the body. I decided to take the opportunity to install a blackwood mouthpiece. I cut the cracked section of my wooden body, and added this mouthpiece I had from a hash pipe. It works the same as before, but now I can hold the vapcap easily in my mouth.

This is the color my vaped bud as been coming out. Very dark brown, coffee colored. The ashtray is an artillery shell from my grandfather's tour in the Pacific.

Thank you @Farid. Your problem solving helped direct my mind onto another way to make it easy to customize the VapCap or Ti anything.

I sure do appreciate the support I have received here. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or otherwise.

Thank you,

George

So my crack has gotten a bit bigger, and another tiny one started near it. You should be able to see the original big one in the photo below (worse than it looks in the shitty cell pic). Seems like now it might be affectig the air tightedness slightly? The o rings do help but unsure, I had to remove everything for cleaning last night so that likely loosened it further. Combusted with just too full of a bowl and fine grind on second cycle, didn't overheat or heat again too soon or anything, no ash but black with smokey taste and smell.

I actually hadn't been able to get my avb very dark otherwise, have gotten some clouds on the first hit only really and never really get two in a cycle (taking long draws or many puffs til it cool down clicks). Maybe I'm still bad at heating it up, wouldn't surprise me but I try to rotate my best and heat lower but not too low, in the middle of the barrel. Only really get the clouds for a full full bowl, but then next cycle nothing and avb not so dark even considering.

Tried a little bubble in the herb last night once and was nice but not crazy, only a tiny bit anyway. Still need more practice clearly... But I may also need a new body at some point @VapCap, maybe I'll try TiGlassy actually. Most annoying about the crack is that now the body is just a hair wider that the cap fits too snug where the digger outer hangs on the wood, so the magnet is no longer able to pull it off really (could take a few tries before too, gotta do it carefully, but now it also needs a finger's push)

Anyway as you can see below the wood stem also has a steel collar near the top, I presume to help with cracking though if anything maybe it made it worse since it happened so quickly? Can't flip the stem either for carb further away like this either (don't know if even want to, just pointing it out). Meanwhile the exclusive zebrawood dynastash is fucking gorgeous so thanks again George for hooking me up with that! It shall be cherished always. I can already appreciate the benefits of the tiny VapCap despite my learning curve, still getting some nice effects and having fun of course!

Pity about the crack or cracks forming on the wood end even tho these vape's have gone thru many processes to ensure they work perfectly well there's still going to be issues like this for the time being, all the early adopters are enjoying our first foray into the vapcap world myslef included. You will get the hang of heating and getting big tasty clouds @Shit Snacks its just practice which makes perfect :) if you've ever tried using the lotus for the first time you'll understand what I mean, learning curve and all.

That stash box is stunning by the way, got to keep that in your life for a good while more, woody and a woody stash case too your one lucky guy :).Happy to announce I've got a secondly vapcap on route (London right now apparently) so it should be with me in the next few days, after my troubles with cracking I got in touch with George and together we sorted something rather special out, will reveal all soon I hope ;)

Love this little guy! Ive put well over 3 grams through it since last night and i gotta say im impressed with how effective it works, how easy it is to use, and how tasty the vapor is as long as u dont overheat it

even when i did combust, it wasnt THAT bad, easy to clean as well. No charred taste left over.

definitely want a TI woody now...or that new glass one...
this simple glass one isnt going to cut it for me ive already dropped it a few time lol luckily no cracks....surprised actually.

With the Ti/woody, I'd wait till the kinks are ironed out. I have no doubt George is on top of it. I like the Ti/glass too, that's next on my list.

@VapCap what will be the difference between the new mouthpiece and the current silicone mouthpiece on the OG Vapcap? I understand it will still be silicone, correct? Will it be more heat resistant? Will it be hard? Will it still have a plastic taste?

Madcap79

Jack of all trades, master of none.
It seems that the TIW offers more protection against super dark ABV. Shorter time to cool down click. At least the way I have been using it. Carb hole usually open and flame pointed at the middle of the cap. I wish my three flame laughter wasn't inop. Not a big fan of the single flame method.

Edit: Found out the hard way that I couldn't make a TIG with my OG VC body.
