I don't get what you mean, Surf M. Yes, the box clicks shut, but it doesn't keep it shut. Also, it doesn't click open, which would help to let you know it wasn't closed. Rather, a millimeter or two slide in the lid actually opens the box and allows finely ground contents to spill. I don't like this 'improvement' and don't understand how others can. It's just another feature that detracts from the basic simplicity and function of the unit. The battery o-ring - great, I often have a hard time pulling out my tight-fitting battery from my older unit. The lid-lifter 'latch' - not a good idea.

I feel the same way that Surf Monkey does.
My boxes with latches "click" distinctly shut ... and they STAY shut. I get a distinct "click" when it shuts .. and I get a distinct "click when it opens as well.
I also don't see how weed could be piled so high in a trench that it could spill. I find no millimeter... the new lids are readjusted even snugger than before.
I know not every improvement is for everyone.. but if you have a space on the new box that weed can fall through, you might contact the company.
Here is another thought, Maui...
Many people are like you... and do not like change. You can not do it here, due to policy.. but now the word is out that you do not like the latch, maybe someone will trade with you!
I think you could say something in the sell my vape thread.....
"wanted, trade. I want to trade my brand new latch lid MFLB for a good condition old school one"
I don't like change either. When it came out I didn't want one... Now I love it.. Just took a change in thinking for me. I hope you somehow get satisfaction.. we don't want you to lose your buzz!

When grinded well, my herb can fall out from the air intake (only a bit, if something) when shaking a lot, or keeping it in pocket for a long time. I don't want a replacement (even I want the latch). It works perfect, I can be happy I have a light, 3 batts (1 extra), glass stem and The pushback ring.

Mine clicks open and closed. Maybe your retainer clip is too loose?

Surf Monkey,
i just opened my cool little tin box after about a month of no use and one of the batteries seems to have half exploded melting a whole in my epic clear platic suction straw. Is that covered by warranty at all? A fucked up battery and ruined straw? Just opened up my box to get the serial number becasue i was gonna order the PA but that is now gonnna be put on hold till i figure this out. :/:/:/

The best thing to do with problems with the LB and batteries, etc., would be to email Magic Flight. Include a picture if possible.

You placed loose peeled batteries in the box without the battery caps. At some point it got jostled and a battery made contact with the side of the box. There was an uncontrolled discharge, causing a lot of heat and melting your tube. In short (excuse bad pun) it was user error.

The warranty covers the box, not the batteries or the tube. I doubt Magic-Flight will do anything for you but sell you a new tube, but I don't speak for the company.

BUT... the acrylic tube is only 1 dollar. and if you place a call, the folks at BlissSville/Magic Flight will surely guide you to the most reasonable solution! :)

Vitolo,
Stories like this make me question the wisdom of selling the MFLB in a conductive metal container instead of a wood or plastic one.

A warning sheet added to the kit, explaining what can happen with the batteries, would be better than a non conductive box. It would prevent hot pockets too.

what is a loose peeled battery? becasue if your meaning what i think u mean then battery caps or not sounds like a cheap faulty battery they are batteries from the company not upgraded ones i bought online somewhere and the damn things is less then three months old why the fuck would the batterries already be peeling when it was strictly used in the house never taken around or abused just used on my desk?

A "peeled" battery doesn't have the plastic covering that typical batteries have. The batteries that come with the box are already peeled. Peeled batteries should be stored with caps or in their proper case. If the positive end of a peeled battery makes contact with the same metal surface that the battery sides or bottom is touching, they will discharge and get hot enough to do serious damage. Normal unpeeled batteries do not have this problem because the negative part of the battery is protected.

There is a warning sheet in the box. It very clearly tells to not let battery come in contact with metal surfaces. It adds to always keep batteries in case or with caps on when in the metal box! :peace:

Hi,

Contact BlisssVille (they process our warranty requests) -- they will most likely issue replacements. However, the diagnosis above is probably correct -- have the warranty request include some battery caps and be sure to store the batteries with the caps on. This will make things a lot easier.

Plastic is not environmentally kind -- not our style. At the moment, wood is not really practical (costs more). We might do wood containers for special edition Boxes in the future.

Hi,

We added exactly that to the kit several months ago. Every unit that goes out has this "STOP! READ THIS FIRST" card on the top -- you have to move it out of the way to get to the Box. Although it includes specific warnings about the batteries, it is not a perfect solution. Agreed that it does help.

This is what makes Magic-Flight special, and a great company unlike any other I have dealt with.

Hey Magic Flight,

Could you please elaborate on what you mean by "special edition Boxes in the future"?
Do you just mean fancy woods?

They have always done me right...I will stick by MFLB as they stick by their product. I went away for a weekend trip with the fam, I had my LB in a carry case and unknowingly my wife had thought I for got my battery and placed it in the tin loosely. About 20 minutes later we couldn't figure out what was burning and low and behold the battery heated the box up, melted the drawtube, and became so hot it melted my sons water gun packed next to it...dang.

If the tube has melt, is it functional now (is there any melted plastic on the draw hole? or something?) I think I saw something similar before and I think the user got a replacement.

Thank goodness I had the flight in a seperate place, I usually hit native but when my wife put the battery in the tin she didn't realize that the original tube was in there. Now it resembles the shape of a banana. I am psyched to get home now, just checked the tracking number on USPS and low and behold my replacement box is in the mailbox...and I just got some g13 haze that I am going to break her in with. :brow:

Hello folks,

My second post on FC after about six months of lurk. The MFLB was my introduction to vaporizing and I was sufficiently impressed that I subsequently gifted out three more units to friends over the next few weeks. And a few weeks later, some idiot (me) dropped the MFLB and broke off the plexiglass cover. Blissville replaced the entire unit!

I'm simply wowed by vaporizing and the few times trying combustion since have been, in a word, distasteful.

Cheers to all and watch out cause I've found acquiring and gifting vapes more of an addiction (and cost) than everything else. And then watch out for the glass follow on addiction....(pappy my main man)

Yeah, it's so true. Once you go to vapor it's hard to go back to combustion.
yea. I really don't even like to hit the bowl with my friends pass it to me anymore. I have gotton so used to the vape high that I could smoke a whole blunt of crazy dank and not really free anything off of it. But, then I could go home and take one big fat vape rip and be high off my fucking ass.

Just for the record - boxes with the new latch were just passing through my hands to my less-computer-literate friends that I turned on to vaping. Both of my personal boxes are non-latch type. I simply noticed and didn't like the fact that the lid-lifter 'latch' creates a gap between the wood and the clear cover when deflected off the lid recess for the 'latch'. Granted the lid opens when deflected 2.5 mm on one side, 2.0 mm on the other (for my oldest box) - the latch opens the lid with any movement off it's lid recess. The snap heard opening or closing is the lid slamming against the wood after having opened due to the 'latch' lifting the lid off the wood. It's that lifting gap that I mind and which allows material to fall out when the box is stuffed in a pocket and not laying horizontal. At least the intake depression is only on one side - that position can be easily avoided to prevent spillage, the 'latch' opens the lid all around, though not evenly.

Thanks for the offers of exchange - not needed as yet and hopefully the box 'latch' problem will 'evolve' away before I need 2 replacements (my second box is just a spare - tested for operability and put away for back-up use).
