I know this may sound selfish, but I am glad that it didn't blow your socks off, because I bought this a month ago. It never is a good feeling buying a new product and something new pops up right away that is superior

yeah totally, i'd be bummed on that too!

I have my Unit since Mai 2014 and now I`m wondering if it`s worth to upgrade my old or should I take a second new one. Not sure, I will see...

You don't. They are not out yet. I have one of the glass cores for testing and so far I prefer the original.

Did you put the glass core in the old Unit like the decarb kit?

Btw, here you can see the 2015 MV in the last minute of the video which I found after reading the news here. :-)

Edit: Nice to see someone uses the same setup like me, with the adapter from the Ascent ^^

IMO the popularity of the minivap might rise if the prices on their official website were lowered. $50 for the lid?? That seems excessive. A battery is 109..
If the MV wasn't such a badass of a vape I would say it wouldn't be worth it..good thing it is :D
What don't you like about the glass core specifically sticks?

Another setup I prefer... The Image is a bit blurry, but you get the idea anyway!

Used a metal mouthpiece from an cheap pipe on a cuted flexicone+, also with the plastic part which goes from the lid in the flexicone underneath.
I love to experimend with different settings and solutions... hell yeah this is fun :)

Almost there...
Just thought i would stop by and say that my MiniVap rocks!!

If i had of bought this vape as my first vape, i wonder if i would have looked at any other vape?
As long as the MV is working, it usually ends up being my go to vape.
When it is gone, those are tough times!
Luckily i have a collection starting again... Donations gratefully accepted! LMAO!!

So why does this happen? I think it's that at the lowest temps, to get the volume of vapor I want in a single draw, I have to pull so much air over the material for so long and it goes a bit over temp, releasing some slight combustion flavors. But if I use pink to warm up and then mostly green, it takes much less air going over the material to generate nice clouds of vapor with each light, soft draw.....
.....................................................................................................................................
I am constantly experimenting with my mV. I generally take the cover off to heck the basket temp with my fingers after every other draw. This really helps to monitor different techniques.

Regarding low temp tastes:
The miniVAP is supremely accurate on not going over temp. The red temp is 230 C or 446 F. If it was going temp over at all, there would be combustion and I can't recall anyone here ever getting combustion.
I am saying those are definitely not slight combustion flavors at lower temps.

IMO, my first few hits at lower temps release the lightest of light terps, the ones that taste like you shot warm air over a lemon drop and then inhaled. Superb taste going in under the tongue and incredible flavor exhaling over the tongue. Then, at the same low temps after more draws the lightest/ lowest temp vaporizing terps are gone and the next ones are a different animal. They have a bite, a sharpness, a tang, a tartness that could come across as in the realm of smoke.
Then at green, these tart terps are getting depleted and some fuller tasting terps come out to play.
These hits at green are almost easier to inhale straight draw then the end of pink, until you get to appreciate the tart terps.

FYI, mV really likes long pulls, not too short and not too powerful. FYI, a long steady proper airflow pull at pink temp will get the wire basket (and herb) hotter ( clearly up to the set temp) than a " not so proper" draw on green temp.

Vape on---vaping thru the flexicone with the Delrin/ stainless steel adapter, the Dong :)
So less then 2" vapor path thru stainless steel.

Could you please state little more detail please? I was about to purchase the newest virsion from Vapefiend. However I am glad that I hear this prior to my purchase! Thanks Stickstones.

Interesting! I did some more testing today. I've switched to the larger basket, about half full instead of small basket fully packed. I'm liking this better and mostly not getting the sour finish I was having on some exhales in my last few sessions.

Still scratching my head about what that slight sourness I was getting on the finish of exhale was though... It had a "spent" quality, which is what made me think of combustion flavors, but the abv is light brown so there is no actual combustion to be sure...I dunno, it's like occasionally I get a sorta "spent" taste to the end of an exhale, but early in the session and not on every draw.

The vape and accessories are totally clean. During testing it did seem much less likely to happen when I remembered to drink a sip of water between each draw. So, I'm thinking it might have been the result of too many big dry clouds in a row without being hydrated enough. Or perhaps the vape has just convinced me that every hit should be the most delicious thing I've ever experienced, since that's been my overall feeling about using it.

Anyway, I got my herbalizer whip with stainless steel mouthpiece, so I'm going to attach it and see if a longer vapor path modifies the experience. I'll try to keep in mind what you said about the various flavors and see if I can get better at identifying them.

@MinnBobber... Tart terps :drool:

In Scotland a tart is a slut. I  dem terps :brow:
............................................................................................

Oh those slutty (tart) terpes. They are just too easy. They shed their outer casing and jump on your receptors. Those tart terps have even been known to ask . "Is that a vaporizer in your pocket or are you just glad to see me" ? :)

My unit is still running strong since august 2013, I sent it back to Hermès one time for upgrade and timer adjustment.

These days I came back to the short mp, dry use, I don't know why but my lungs can handle the vapor better now(with the same strains!) and the water filtration ritual bored me sometime....especially if I need several draws to finish my bowl.

I noticed too some little drops about performances and some little bugs, but as mentionned before a good reboot clear it.

The unit is very solide and durable, mine got several falls on concrete and is still working like the first day (but it don't look at the first day, not a big deal but many chip and scratches)

Are you sure they've not sent any out? As far as I know the one I bought in December is the 'new' version, as I was asked to wait for my order until the new version was out, and I've also been asked about the temp of the vapor coming from my MV with the 'new glass pathway' in my contact with Hermes since buying.

Ohhh all this talk of the newer pathway.. And cloud evos are just hitting these shores.. Damn creation.
What's your views about comparison between the two?
Also, if you send back a Teflon model you think they'll automatically, after a certain point, give you a glass cored model?

My TmV (Haaha) is rockin anyhow.

I wish they would have elaborated when they commented how much difference the taste was with the glass core in the MV.

I'll take @stickstones word on it though. The 'spent taste' comment is a little concerning and I'm sure if it went away stickstones would have pointed that out. Odd that glass would do that.....one would think the opposite.

I guess time will tell what I get from Vapornation as a replacement. I just want one that I can depend on working for the long haul and if that means the glass core, so be it.

Just a guess ,
Could it be that glass ' retains ' heat better than teflon ?
And maybe there is some minor cooking of the herbs still ,
when you're not hitting it .

Sorry if I do accidently something wrong, but liked to show how the glass core looks like and doesn`t like to point on the taste, how they say in the Video... Don`t realise that :(

Glass should retain the heat better as you point out. The Teflon core should stay cleaner I would think and wondering out loud here if the residue left behind may contribute to the taste. @stickstones is there still a loading chamber liner?

Don't apologize....not needed at all. The video you posted was much appreciated.

If I were to interpret their comment on taste with the new glass core it seemed to be positive as I'm sure if they thought it was worse compared to the old core they would have said so. It's just that now I feel like there's a bit of contradiction between those comments in video and stickstones feelings.

Here's a pic of the two cores side-by-side.

You can clearly see the white liner on the teflon core on the left. If you remove that liner the core is white and looks the same. On the right you can see the glass core. @Sid I thought these weren't available yet. But I am not a company rep and only interact with Hermes every couple of weeks with a language barrier, so I would not be surprised at all if my understanding on this was not correct. You should be able to look at yours and this photo and tell which one you have.

As for the taste, I really think it is something else with my unit. I get the spent taste from the very first hit, so it's not that the herb is having time to bake in there. It makes no sense to me that glass would taste this much worse than teflon. At most I expected a slight improvement on what is already one of the best tasting units out there. Like I said, my first response to Hermes was that I think my unit is mis-calibrated, but then again it doesn't combust on the highest setting, so who knows.

All I can say is, from my limited experience with one glass unit that may very well be faulty, I wouldn't hold back on getting a teflon core unit. You can see by the pics which on e I reach for regularly.

Yeah, thanks for posting the pic @stickstones, mines definitely got the glass pathway, and it's very interesting to hear your comments about it, I'd love to try one with the teflon liner to see what difference it makes, my MV certainly produces the best clouds of any vape I've tried but if I'm honest I wouldn't say the flavour is amazing with it, I wonder if the teflon lined MV's are better in terms of taste?

So, is it possible to use the core liner in the glass unit? And if yes, have you tried it? Any difference taste wise?

It's interesting that with the old core and stock liner the taste is well thought of by most but if the metal decarb kit is used, most, myself included, think the taste department took a hit. Now the glass core seems to take a similar hit taste wise.

I'm posing these questions since if per chance VN gives me the choice between existing inventory or waiting for the glass core unit which way I'll go. Right now my brain says new glass core unit mostly because of the two units I've already had that took a :shit: and went south on me.

I would like to heard the Roger D thoughts about the glass core....if Hermès provided him a beta test unit....I expect yes since he supports them!

As the decarb kit I think the glass liner provide more conduction....but is it the only improvement?

If it is it's more a glass liner than a glass core isn't it?
I remenber to created an All glass obsession thread, I got doubt about the purest taste of glass after to make a comparative test between my Cloud+ and my MV....

The glass core has a slightly wider diameter than the Teflon core with the insert. But the insert won't fit in the glass core...too big.

And yes, the glass is more of a sleeve than a core. If you take out the screen in the bottom of the chamber you can see the heater and exchanger. The heater appears to be some sort of metal plate in the center of a ceramic exchanger.

@Sid - I don't think my singular opinion about this glass core should outweigh a bunch of other users, if we have that many. But if there is only one or two published opinions about it, then maybe I'm on to something. I really think my glass unit is malfunctioning in the taste department. But then again, I don't know if others have the two side by side like I do, either.
