MiniVAP Vaporizer

Unfortunately, I can not use the minivap. It is way too hot. When I place the long silicon mouthpiece onto the top, if I take a hit while holding the silicon lightly in place, I can't hold the silicon. It almost burns my hand on green. Is the experience for others? If you hold the long silicon mouthpiece near the nipple, can you keep your hand on the tubing near the base or is it too hot for others as well. This is on the green setting.

When I use pink, it is too hot too. Same experience. I got really medicated after a few draws for the minivap. Pink has no visible vapor even in light, but I can feel the heat from minivap. At green, very light visible vapor, very "warm to hot " vapor.

I have a concern. Will I be able to ship this back to Spain because it has the smell of my flowers? I wanted to see if others are experiencing this before I submit a ticket.
.................................................................................................

On blue and pink, the whip does not get too hot. On green and red, any connection very close to the nipple will get very hot. That area is only 1 inch away from 410 F and 437 F hot convective air passing thru your buds.
That's why I've never tasted a more flavorful vape--great laminar air flow and then minimal distance so no vapor condensation.
From that max flavor option, you then customize as needed if you don't want it so hot:
longer whips or long glass mouthpieces or bubblers.

Are you sure it's too hot and not too dry??? They can be confused--too dry can make you cough etc.
A $25 Chinese bubbler and it becomes a world class vape.

any pics of your setup---using the flexicone plus or what?
Longer stem / vape path might tone it down just enough and retain almost all of the flavor

I will try to take some pictures. I did taste a different taste spectrum even though the vapor was uncomfortably warm. Maybe I just need more experimentation.

Off three long pulls, I got super medicated, I think a lot quicker and full body elation than the mighty. But the vapor temperature on these two units are the complete opposite on the mv and the mighty. I have nothing bad to say about the minivap. The taste was there, the effects were REALLY there, but the heat even off the long silicon does not feel right. The plastic mouthpiece unusable. Please note that this was only two sessions so I can not say that I tested the vaporizer out.

This was just my initial impression. And I come from combusting background where I did smoke a lot of joints. The heat off the vapor from the mv reminds me when I am about 80% through a joint and taking a slow pull. I really am going to try to get this to work. It might just be human error because of the small sample size of sessions I have had. I guess too hot is better than too cold.

I think I see the problem here. Your supposed to feed the long silicone tube *through* the opening in the lid, not hold it on top of the cap. The flared base of the flexicone+ (that's name of the long tube) stays under the lid, and then you snap a screen into the flared base, and then fill one of the baskets and snap it into the flared base below the screen.

My unit (silver from Vapornation in Dec) seems to work fine, and I think if I was actually holding the fleixone+ during my session it would get too hot to hold, particularly on green. Try to reconfigure and have a session on pink, should do you right without being too harsh and you won't have to hold anything in place :)

Just a little something I threw together from some odds and ends :D
Flexi under the bonnet attaches to the Hermes adaptor.
Next up is some small sections of silicone tubing connected and connecting a broken segment of an Arizer EQ elbow to the MV ultem mouthpiece :whip:
The adaptor starts sinking heat right off the bat, followed by a second slight cooling from the elbow piece glass.
Smooth and cool.. And ugly as sin :disgust:
Plenty flex though.. Also as the tubing slips in the Hermes adaptor I can go a bubbling in a jiffy.
Nifty.. Hey that's a good name if s&b ever decide on a mighty and Crafty mini mish mash.

Keep at it mate, I was the same with mine but after a few weeks I'm loving it ~ although I'm still not completely convinced that the battery is operating as it should. The biggest problem is the heat for me, as you say the whip gets very hot and can burn my lips, I wouldn't even consider using the plastic mouthpiece for this reason, the whip is just about bearable and I think it's got cooler as I've learned to draw on it differently (my daily vape before the MV was a Ascent which has a glass mouthpiece that never even gets warm, let alone hot!) I've said in this thread before, the MV is an awesome vape but at the price it's at you really shouldn't be expected to modify the thing to be able to use it, it's been out for years so Hermes should have addressed these issues IMO.

Another issue with it is the led colours, the pink looks like blue, the green looks like the orange, pretty confusing after a couple of hits! :D Also, the battery light on mine seems to be pretty odd, it flicks from green to blue then back again etc, does anyone else have this or is it an indication that mine is dodgy?

The clouds these produce is unlike any other vape I've used, I use mine on the green setting and I end up coughing a lot from it, so much so that I'm worried that it's actually producing smoke as opposed to vapour, the clouds are that thick!

A friend of mine summed it up perfectly for me, any other vape we've tried is the equivalent to having a joint, whereas the MV is the equivalent to having a bong, it produces so much more vapour and hits so heavier than any other vape I've tried.

@OnCloud8 - Good catch with @mixchu69 's technique...I thought the same thing and was about to type as much, but you saved me the time!

@Sid and @mixchu69 -- At first I went straight for the flexicone+, thinking all that extra tubing would cool down the vapor more. I was wrong. For some reason, the shorter plastic mouthpiece gives me cooler vapor. But it gets hotter on the lips. I found if I avoided taking long hard draws, the mouthpiece didn't get so hot. If I take shorter, slower hits off the shorter one it works well...I just can't huff on it as hard as I would like. Give that a shot while you figure out a good bubbler solution.

For those of you willing to go the extra mile with this vape and find a cheap bubbler for it, I think you will be rewarded. Not only will you have what I typically choose to use over some other pretty sweet vapes, but your vaping life may be changed forever. The Cloud beta program changed me for good. I run almost all my vapor through water since using the Cloud. It has spoiled me on comfortable vapor that even reduces the amount of phlegm coughing the next morning. If you're serious about vaporizing (and the price tag of this unit tells me you are), you owe it to yourself to try vapor through water, no matter what vape you land on!

I think you guys are all right. I started rereading this whole thread and heat was an issue for a lot of ppl when they first receive the minivap. But after experimentation, a lot of people found the sweet spot. I will try different configurations to get it right.

Thinking about it, my go to setup is the shorty mouthpiece. X2 on it gets really hot to the touch but the vapor is probably cooler than thru the long flexicone plus. i use is on the two low temps and even on green and red. It also helps to not take hits rapid fire--take a couple and sip on something, and then a couple more.
But again, it mates with a bubbler in about a dozen different configurations with just a couple cheap additions.....such as Ratchett's $16 Song (silicone adapter). Pictures up a few posts.

Hi, a little word about me and my MiniVap, i had mine since july 2014 and has worked flawlessly since then. Since a couple of days when i put the battery in the charging cradle the led on the PSU start blinking red/green in half second frequency. Battery seems to charge normally as the led on the MV is green when i turn it on. I also own a DaVinci classic that i use seldomly, mostly a backup unit now as keeping it clean is quite annoying.

Yea, I think I will like this once I get to experiment with water. I only wished they had a more detailed manual in English. I tried looking through the spanish manual and it doesnt really show how to operate for peak performance. BUT THAT IS WHAT FC IS FOR!!!!! I am going have to reread this thread. Im glad its not as long as the solo or persei. I purchased the 14mm gong from minivap,so will test it with my small vapor brothers bubbler (prefer minimal diffusion). I think it will also teach me the proper draw, since I can see it milk up.

But even taking those few draws, it was a different experience than the mighty. It hit me hard, and my tolerance has been high becuase of all my concentrate use. I know this might be a silly question with such a great medical device, but is the silicon safe with that much heat?

100% THIS^^^ I honestly think it would solve so many teething problems, I'm still scratching my head about things that I'm sure would be explained in the user guide, it's absolutely absurd that it's not been translated!

I wanted to say my current unit have been working flawlessly since I received it 237 days ago, all day, everyday. I could not be more happy about this machine. I wish it could be like that for everybody. The MV is that good, you never get used to the awesomeness.

I'm all good using only the small baskets nowadays, it's perfect to pack a .1g tight and neat. I like the performance better, compared to the other baskets, and I can get so much more out of the same bud, it's amazing how efficient I'm getting. A while ago, I used to consume very little but my use went up to a good G per day with the whole glass and cloud chasing game, cause I love that. I never T-break, I prefer to lower my tolerance progressively instead, so I decided to lower the quantity instead of frequency to stretch my supply and also for the experience sake. I'm surprised how easy it was to do it. My usage in quantity is constantly going down, while I seem to get higher easier. I'm at the point where I can take a big draw, keep it in my lungs a while, exhale slowly and be good, for a nice hour. I still have that love for cloud chaining but I can wait a little bit because I know I will get back to it eventually.

This is a beginner question. I'm on page 46 rereading this thread, but it takes a long time. Roger, I have always liked your videos. While reading the earlier forum, has the minivap changed from 2013 model regarding the accessories. I need some help with configurations for my vapor brothers bubbler. I have the 14mm gong from mv and was wondering the best way to use.

I am looking at the old threads and there will be a basket on the bubbler, filled elb, and the user just places the minivap on top and starts inhaling. Is it same with the new model. It's going to take sometime to read this whole thread.

I don't believe anything substantial has changed. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the device was created for controlled studies into MJ usage for some kind of European institution. So other than some tweaks to firmware, it should be the same.
It's a great thread.. Keep reading.

Someone had recently stated that the Hermes GonG was revised a little from its first incarnation as it's dimensions didn't really cater for what users were after.
With some tinkering I have mine solidly attached to my lid/cap, and can go hands free, even with the weighty battery attached.

MinnBobber posted some great photos that show my favorite way to use the MV on a bubbler. I have a 14mm Hermes GonG too, but much prefer using the MV without the cap.

For a water piece there are many many options but the simplest, with stock pieces is the flexicone
(silicone cone, upper left in above picture). Make a wire basket module with flexicone, wire basket and herb and round screen snapped into it). Then that just sits in a water piece with screen side up and mV inverted over it. Pics:

I like the clean Looking setup. Basically, you guys are setting up the herbs to sit in the basket on top of the bubbler. The minivap without the top is basically the heater to vaporize your herbs. Since the heater is pulled away after the draw, the herbs aren't cooking. I'm super medicated off this death star og honey oil 90%thc dab off a Quartz banger. Sorry, to get back to the minivap, am I understanding the setup correctly?

You got it mixchu69. What I like best is that the herbs don't cook between hits. Near the end of a basket I sometimes forget to take a hit for a few minutes, but it doesn't matter because my herbs aren't cooking while I space out.

read 20 more pages on this thread. That seems to be the most preferred method for most people.

I'm starting to understand. I completely misused the silicone. I need to add a screen with the basket coming next. Do you use the mouthpiece or draw from the tubing

They don't cook any how.

Probably not that much, but it seems that the temp inside the basket would remain hot enough to vaporize at least a bit if it just sat inside the enclosed oven for 5 minutes. The last bit of air you pull through the basket is very hot and that air just sits in your herb pack until the next hit. If I can pull the oven off the basket, the basket gets to cool off significantly each time.

Oh wow did you never add a screen in the flexi +?yeah that might be your problem. Just to clarify you have your flexicone, put at least one screen in that (I have two in mine currently but one is a okay ),then the basket.
Hey @Roger D that was a great post you had earlier. I agree with everything you said. I lower my tolerance in a similar way by doing just Edibles and taking a break from vaping. Make it up to that special place in the mountains this year?

Yea. I completely misused it. I just stuck the skinny side into the nipple and took draws from the flared open side. Now I realize I have to go through the lid, the open side of the silicone goes below the lid with a screen and pull the skinny through the top.

mixchu,
just to make sure you have it correct as its critical:
For direct hits :

Wire basket, herbs inside, flat round screen included in kit = wire basket module of flexicone module.
No herb falls into miniVAP screen, no herb gets sucked up into mouthpiece (or whip tubing if you want longer vape path . Also results in almost never needing cleaning!!!
mVbskt.jpg

You can take straight hits, for example, on blue and pink lower heats. Then you can unscrew cover and
place module into bubbler (14 mm needed), invert miniVAP and hit it.

mVbskion.jpg

IonwmV.jpg

Ratchett makes an inexpensive Song (silicone adapter) that snaps onto the cover. You load a module and insert into cover, screw on the cover, snap on the Song. Then you could use this as a mouthpiece but main focus is then it is ready to invert into bubbler. He makes them in a 14 mm or 18 mm size.
See pic. Ratchett'a is black silicone. Other device is similar but made from stainless steel and white Delrin (it is not a production piece/ only a few were crafted).

mVSongDelrinfront.jpg

It takes some initial trial and error to find what works best for you but the miniVAP is a superb piece
and so so versatile.
I keep finding new combinations.
For example, Ratchett's Song ---the mouth-feel for me for direct hits is not fantastic so....I find that a tube/ whip will fit into it. I'm still not a lover of tubing mouthpieces so.... the top half of the stock hard mouthpiece will snap into the tubing.... voila, now it is perfect.

Let us know if you have other questions as somebody here will most likely have the answer
