i know someone asked this question like last page, but i too have been tempted to get an ascent as a more portable solo........but from the reviews i see from people(vape critic) it seems like there isnt as much cloudage as the solo. how is the vapour production compared to the solo (we all know the solo is a BEAST), i asked this in the ascent forum and predictalbly was told that the ascent blows clouds like the solo and tastes better(dont know how becuase solo on 2 or 3 is pure flavour). anyway can anyone tell me, can the ascent give the thick rips that we all know the solo gives effortlessly?

I believe for the money the SOLO is the best for portable vaporizing.
Put your real money in a plug in device. $500 +
$150 or less the SOLO?

GLASS stems = PHVES or STOCK (I like both)
WOOD for fun and I broke so much glass I needed this while I had glass on order. (great back up)

yeah for the money solo is a champ, unfortunately where i live the solo is only 15$ less than the ascent, so with that being said..........

It's only been a few weeks, but I don't think I can be without a working vaporizer again.

Great point, for sure you don't want to be backsliding once you understand.

Human nature being what it is it's a good plan to gave a backup vape because being caught vapeless with stash in a town with zig-zags in corner shops is a recipe for bad, better than the worst of just being there looking at the stash, but no where near good.

Besides, I think having a backup vape can be fun to use from time to time if you pick wisely. Perhaps something in a nice Vapor Genie? Or one of my personal favs, Vapman? Maybe a MFLB? You can do it for well under a hundred bucks. Increase your options and give you the tools to laugh in the face of Murphy if he pulls some stunt on you.......

Hi guys,

I am a NO2 user and just ordered an Arizer Solo. Does the Solo require screens? If not, does using screens improve performance of the unit? Thanks!

Ken
If you don't have screens you can cut some down to fit, if you have others on hand. Cotton works really well in place of a screen.

You don't need screens for big clouds.

You will also notice the Solo extracts the goodies much better from your herb than the No. 2.

I thought that some of you might be interested in this find this morning. http://dailysale.com/deal/sale/1025/?utm_source=sendgrid&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=dailydeal It looks like it is the right amps and voltage but that is for your smarty mc smarts to figure out. It seemed stronger then others that were posted. I hope the link works. This is the item,
5000mAh Solar Powered Battery Flash Charger for Smartphones Tablets

Again I will say that the ascent tastes better but burns herb and you have to do magic tricks for it to work well.

Screens all the way. I rather get my scooby snacks on purpose after the session when I use a straw to clean whatever doesn't shake out.

I checked out your link and that's a 5 volt back up supply/charger for USB equipped devices.
The solar charge for it's own batteries is kind of cool but would take a long time.
Anyway, not for us here.

Looky what I got in the mail today.

Yes, An Ed's wooden custom stem.
Requested it short and Gong style with good visible hardwood grain. This is Zebra wood and fits the 14mm stuff great. Just finishing off it's first time run now.

Was concerned it would be hard to separate the pieces while inhaling but it fits very tight into the oven that it needs a good pull to get out. So far. a non issue, as it separates easily at the connection.

Wow, just had the last couple pulls at 6. Hope that wooden taste dies down some. Was OK till I cranked the heat for the last hits.

No more worrying about breaking the stem. And smaller footprint. However, I can see using by itself will be at lower setting and slow inhales do to the heat. (Short direct vapor travel distance.)
Restriction is just a little more than my HES under the same setup. (tighter fit?)

All in all, a happy camper.

OK, so remember this post? Well the troubles I predicted with removing the WT between hits is very much an issue. Shit, have to wait for it to cool before I could even remove the WT as can't turn upside down to take it out. Almost made it useless in practical use. Well can't blame @Ed's TnT as it was what I asked for.
However, where there's a will there's a way. It was obvious I needed a way to hold the stem down while removing any attached tool. Looked around and found we had a broken cheap cutting board which was close enough in colour for me. Think it's bambo.?
Got out my little saw and sand paper.
EDStemMod1_zpsc92a99ce.jpg

Drilled a hole smaller than the stem, wrapped stem in sandpaper with grit facing out and twisted in the hole till I got the fit I was looking for.

EDStemMod2_zps4b309091.jpg

The wooden disc pressure fits tightly and rests such it is just short of hitting the top of the Solo.

EDStemMod3_zpsd71b5e06.jpg

Gave it a thin coat of lacquer to smoothen the look and feel.

EDStemMod4_zps3d257bac.jpg
EDStemMod5_zpsc318dc92.jpg

Fits and functions as expected.

I don't know 1/10th of what you know about electrical devices.

However it's more of a feeling for me.

Pipes, that is what I was hoping for, for you to look and make the comment. I thought it had enough power but as you know I only see colors lol.

That is a great thing you made but how did that solve the issue? Isn't the wong still getting stuck? Is the piece you made just for grip to get it out of the wt? You are a creative and handy person, I love that about you.

The way I interpreted the fix was that Pipes could hold down Ed's stem by the base ring that he made, and at the same time pull up on the WT so that they separate cleanly and without being stuck together or pulling out the wong w/WT from the Solo.

Your quite welcome, we try to keep information correct. At less the best we can.?
And thank-you, sometimes that creativity gets me in trouble though...

You are 100% correct. The freezer tube was not an issue for 2 reasons. One, I could turn upside down to remove the stem from Solo and 2, it seemed to separate from the stem before the Solo.
With the WTs the stem would stick tighter to the tube and would pull out from the Solo. This made it impossible the remove. Inverting, water seems to follow gravity so that was not possible. Had to wait for it to cool and pull out far enough to grab the stem to separate the tube from it. This made it pretty unpractical for use.

I don't know 1/10th of what you know about electrical devices.

However it's more of a feeling for me.

And that's why we love you so much Ataxian. BTW, did you know not all the screws are tight on the bottom of your Solo.

You can get clouds as big as the Solo with Ascent, also the vapor tastes great too. I have a Solo and an Ascent. Solo is easier to use, there is no learning curve with the Solo. It didn't take me any time to use the Solo and get fantastic results. it took me a few months to get it right with the Ascent, I put it on the back burner and wasn't using it much.

With a little help from my friends on FC I'm having a good time and I feel so much better.

I'm missing one screw on the bottom of one of my units!
What size do I need?
I'd take another one out and take it to a Fasco fastener outlet or a good hardware store to try and match up. They are a self tap thread but a normal screw should be OK if careful.
Keep it in a piece of tape in your wallet so you don't loose another. Keep in mind while out and about.
Good luck.
