I just recently got my Vector Elio Pipe Lighter. The horizontal flame helps considerably. I cannot recommend it enough. It just makes the whole entire process of getting a hit so much easier.
I also just took off the mouthpiece, and can't recommend that enough too. You definitely can get much bigger hits this way, but the downside is that your lips sure can get toasty if not placed correctly.
Regardless, with the pipe lighter and mouthpiece off, my hits are no longer 10s, but more like 3-4secs with very-rare burning. I practice my technique with the herb damiana which was sent with my box vape.

I just finished vaping out of the Genie. I'ts been about a week since I last used it. But in the mean time while I was down in Miami, I was just smoking mad blunts with friends. I really like the traditional way of smoking marijuana. It's probably the closest you can get to a natural way of taking marijuana. Let's just say I got an urge to roll a couple blunts right now. I just don't have the time to do that. But coming back to college, I have the Vapor Genie in my apartment. So I got some Crippy from Miami while I was done there. I had some dank herb from another person from Miami. And I had some good Sativa (Euphoric Head High). I ended up mixing 2 bowls (estimated gram a bowl). The 1st bowl had 2 types of weed. (Pretty nice. But it made me really tired.) The 2nd bowl had a mix of 4 different types of marijuana. Let's just say that 2-4 hits (I don't remember the exact amount) from the 2nd bowl put me over the top. I got about 8 hits from the 1st bowl that had me set for the afternoon. Now I'm as high as a F*#k and I'm loving it. My head and body feels has that nice tingling feel.
My only experience with Vaping comes from my 1st Vaporizer, the Vapor Genie. It is the best portable Vaporizer due to its naturally smoking technique (preferable) and effectiveness. But I want to try the Volcance, Vapir Vapormatic Deluxe, Silver Surfer, Da Buddha, and VaporBros.

Yeah, im assuming he must have really packed that bowl because 1 gram is way off...
Iwien, when you use ground up herb how full is the bowl? Because my roommate and I are having efficiency issues. Not as bad as blaze but maybe 4-5 pd size bowls to get high off the genie..

I don't think you could pack a gram into that bowl no matter how hard your tried.
I don't fill the bowl all the way to the top. I fill it to just below the first thread without any tamping whatsoever with some pretty finely ground up herb. The herb that I use is the best that the medi-dispensaries here in Cali can offer up. My tolerance is pretty high, being that I only vape after 7:00 pm but I do it every night. Two to three hits off that bowl is enough to last me till turn in for the night and I typically get around 4 hits from a bowl...........so, one bowl is good for me for almost 2 nights and being that each bowl, the way I pack it, is a bit less than .05 grams, it's pretty darn efficient.
In relation to a PD bowl, I think that about 1 and half to 2 stems would do me just fine. Haven't had enough experience with the PD yet to allow me to be more definitive.

Somebody on another thread said .05g for a Genie bowl. I corrected to more like .5, but since I never was a big Genie user, turns out he was closer than I was. I test loaded a couple of bowls- full ones with fine ground herb. One weighed .14g and the other .16 (I wouldn't try this with a typical .1g scale), so I can see it getting anywhere from .05 to .15, depending on preference and herb consistency.

So I loaded up a new bowl in the Genie, sat back, took a few pre-puffs, and then the long, slow inhale. Felt the vape beginning to hit my tongue, which is when I usually pull the flame away, but thought, awww, what the hell, just a little more. BIG mistake. MASSIVE vapor cloud hits my lungs and my brain is saying WTF !! as it tells my lungs, "Get that outta here................NOW"!!, as my eyes are waterin' and coughing like hell to obey that command as a thick white cloud of vapor gets expelled from my mouth, more than just once. Kinda fall back into the couch, lungs hurtin' a bit, throat feeling parched, and then, I slowly slip into a coma...............That's what I get for being greedy...........lol.So to all you prospective VG shoppers, don't let anyone tell ya that you that you need a whip vape to get a bong-like vapor hit. Although a whip will be cooler, you can still get more of a super rich vapor hit with a Genie than your lungs can handle.
I have been using the Vapor Genie for a little over a month now and I finally figured out the best way to use the VG. When I 1st started using it I was just heating up the herb from one side at a time. I was using it just like a regular pipe. But I find that my herb gets completely torched on one side when I do that. So I tried something new. Instead of heating from one side at a time, I move the Lighter completely around the rim of the continuously while I inhale for about 10-15 secs. Keeping the light almost perpendicular to the side of the rim. I usually get about 8 nice vape hits from it. But all I really need is 3 or 4 to make me feel good. I don't know if anyone has mentioned about this before. But I thought I might as well share this technique with all of you.

It's faster, the hits are better, and it sounds like a wind tunnel when i suck on the genie now hahaha...

A tad hard to hit in the wind..Spiral advised a vapman would solve that problem.
If I get a mini torch im sure that will solve my problems with outdoor vaporizing..just blew out some of the largest clouds in my life a moment ago didnt burn it...not much got black-ish..thats why the hit was so fat 
but still this thing produces..count on that..you can vary the temperature how ever you please once you get the hang of it.
worth the $58.74 I spent at my head-store

Look in that bowl, Hen. Make sure that there's no black soot spots on that gray filter. If there is, then ya got to keep that flame a bit higher. Shouldn't go in any more than about an eighth of an inch.
FYI......I never used that triangle method. I just let the flame dip in on one side and I get a perfect even vape every time.
But yeah, I've got lung ripping vapor hits off the VG and coughed my ass off till my eyes felt like they were gonna pop outta my head with absolutely no combustion.

Tried my buddy's last night with some kind of attachment that turns an ordinary lighter into a torch, Done it without, was not as big a fan as I am now... the taste was there for sure that time. Tasted better than my Oxygen mini, and much quicker on the draw. I'll tell my friend about the triangle technique.

My VG arrived today in just 2 days. I think im doing pretty good with it, from reading all the helpful tips in this thread. I got about 4 decent sized hits of vapor and I used less than a full VG bowls worth. I did add a tiny bit of keif on top so it wouldnt be a waste and I was most definitely vaked for a few hours. Used it in my dorm room, just blew my hits out the window and had a candle going. No one could even tell.
Most definitely a good purchase in my mind.
I have a pic of the "duff" from my shitty camera phone, I was wondering how it looked. I had zero combustion which was great.
The maple turned out to be a little lighter than I thought but I think it still looks great.

ben...some people, like vtac, like their duff to look like that color green when they are done. I, however, get mine a darker shade of tan. And the VG gets it darker than other units I use. We'll see over time how you hot you like to vaporize.
Oh, and I suggest you at least try using it without the mouthpiece (which twist out). I never use my mouthpiece anymore.

Im not sure how it would work seeing as that it takes a little bit to get the ceramic to heat up. It would be much cleaner though.

Not sure what you mean by cleaner. If you are referring to using butane, max has repeatedly debunked the myth that you are inhaling any butane or byproducts when using lighters with the VG, etc.
I have used several torches and lighters with the VG and am the most satisfied with a standard butane bic style lighter that has an angled flame.

Beeline/beeswax IS better than a regular Petroleum-based candle, which produces soot. Soy candles are also good-no carbon/soot produced. But I don't know if this type of thing would work well with the Genie, as far as ease of use. Lighting a joint and fueling a Genie hit are very different procedures.

I loaded the same stuff back into the VG, got 1 more hit maybe 2, and heres what it looks like. I find it actually challenging to burn the herb, I couldnt even do it. A couple times my lips got a little hot, is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

That last photo looks more like what I get. You most definitely can burn your herb fairly quickly with the VG. If you aren't able to burn it then you probably are not getting the flame close enough. And that's a good thing when you are learning. It sounds like you are starting off the right way. I think you should keep playing with getting it hotter until you do burn it. Once you know how far you can go with the VG you will be able to use it more effectively.
