They do?? Did you ask about that when you got to test drive the unit? The only thing I've seen on the Ascent batt was user speculation and DV saying "sounds like that might be right", which I do NOT take as solid confirmation.

So, if you have confirmation, please let us know!

It's probably best both on a comparison sheet, and on individual pages (and that's perhaps an excuse to start pages for missing devices? I'm gonna have to find SOMETHING to do after the Ascent is out and completely dissected. :) )

I can't give you confirmation on that. Cortney and I did discuss batteries and I came away with that impression, but I don't remember asking specifically what was inside the Ascent. I will bet my stash on this much, however: the Pax is at least as thick as the Ascent. SliM has both and I expect he will confirm or squash this shortly.

Just to annoy you nigel. I remember that is the battery but thought they said there are two in there hence the longer battery life. I have no proof and don't plan on looking for it.

I just did my experiment with my crude method so no science involved. I am editing the pics now and will try not to change the sizes or it would defeat what I just did. I am not good at this kind of stuff just at coming up with the ideas.

Pics to come but I did load more then usual. For example I was able to shove .2 into the DV but I have never packed it that tight in usage. I also loaded the bullet to the rim but that is a very poor way to use it but I will comment on each load when I do the pics.

No annoyance. :) I know there are two, and they are most likely Panasonic IMR Hybrid High Drain 18650 2250mAH Li-Ion batteries. But thee is "most likely" and "confirmed", and you know I prefer the latter. :)

the bowl is an ellipse. if someone got the length from end to end, width from front to back, and depth from top to botom of the bowl.. we could figue out exactly how big in cm3

looks like the perfect size to me tho

The load dumped was way to hard to take pics of so you will just have to listen to the words. This post will self destruct in two hours and will be replaced with something more relevant. I personally need visuals and do think it has to do with the ascent but will remove the pictures and not the words.

Solo stem with a bad scale like sticks. It was .1 since it also like sticks only goes to one decimal place.

INH capsule full tight .2 is what it weighed on the bad scale hence why I don't like to use weight. The old pound of feathers or a pound of rocks which weighs more:doh:

DV packed tight took the .2 as well but in practice way to tight to vape IMO.

It is the very original with the metal box lol. That is not the one you would get now if you got a DV.

Let me be clear on weights as they don't really matter. If you pack the INH you would get .25-.3 with a finer grind. The Solo from others who love to weight takes .15 normal load and the PN takes the a little more then that. The DV takes the same IMO under normal usage as the bullet.

One more thing, the solo stem had a flat screen and was tightly packed. I needed to mention it as most use a domed screen.

I still don't get the whole deal of the bowl size. Da Vinci is not going to modify the bowl size. Maybe they listen and create a bowl reducer for the non handy users. Handy users will use glass beads, glass screens, cotton or pack it tight. No other solution IMHO right now.
BTW, some of the reviewers, thx a lot, already explained that cotton and tight packing works :)
And DV already guessed or said that the Ascent bowl was 30% bigger than the original DV. Am I wrong?
As someone mentioned before, you can load tiny or go big. Up to you guys.

Welcome back zangano...you haven't been around much hope all is well.

We are just trying to put the bowl size to rest as it is bigger then most portable maybe all except the pax.
It was said way back when in the pax thread by paka that you can put a small amount if you pack it down and it seems like it is the same here. I would guess this would actually be easier since it doesn't seem as wide if my memory serves me.

I had a nice kief session during the first quarter of tonight's game. two scoops on 205C and lots of big hits! Now I'm finishing it off at 221 for a nightcap. The kief hits never taste burnt like I always seem to get with the mflb.

I have been super busy here with yard work. Just that time of year. Anyway, things are still going great with the Ascent. I had a bit of an unfortunate accident. It fell out of my shirt pocket when I was bending over to pick something up. It fell about 3-4ft to the concrete floor of the hardware store and slid a bit. I was mortified! One of those moments where time slows as it is falling to the floor...

Anyway everything pretty much held up. The mouthpiece/draw stem got a minor crack in the bottom, but it did not crack all the way though. Everything else was fine. So for people worried that everything would break with a slight fall... it holds up pretty well. I thought for sure I would have had a shattered mouthpiece or filter. It is still completely usable. Will need to get a replacement mouthpiece eventually. So there you have it... unintentional stress test passed. ;)

Right before it happened I sent DaVinci an e-mail asking what might happen if the product is dropped... so about 2 hours later I got my answer. Carful what you put out into the universe! You never know how you will get your answer.

any way to see a pic of the damage just out of curiosity? do you remember if the glass straw was pulled out when it was dropped or fully retracted?

well i guess thats why you got the extra stem pieces...for times like these...

I agree that the demands for videos are excessive, but there's nothing point-worthy yet. There's a bit too much wanna-be moderating going on in this thread. We do have a rule about commenting on moderator decisions, and not handing out a point is a moderator decision. Not that I would consider giving a point for your comment, but it takes the thread in the wrong direction. Anyone who feels we're not doing a good job moderating this thread is free to send a PM. Otherwise, stifle.

I'm not questioning moderation or points or anything like that but do have an opinion on this topic of demands for videos.....where it that coming from? Not a 'please' or 'thank you' in sight typically, just nameless people 'demanding their rights'?

I completely miss the entitlement aspect here. We're a group of like minded folks discussing common interests here, civilly, by agreement up front. We volunteer to make videos (at least some of you do.....), IMO it's a little bit 'wrong minded' to be demanding anything you haven't paid for?

No offense intended to anyone, of course, just commenting on the way it plays out. FWIW, I think Pak is right, it's not a sin....but it's sure not good manners. I'm sure nobody is happy to be on the receive end of such demands.....just because they have done so in the past.

New here:) I have much respect for the high caliber of posters here. Knowledgeable, creative, experienced. I use a Solo and am waiting for my pre-reg'd Ascent. Meantime, just started experimenting w/cotton per Sticks and noticed a huge cloud difference set at 6-7. Sandwiched loosely just a very small pinch of some very fine ground, primed it with a couple of light mouth pulls to get the convection effect...and then the nice slow draw. Got 2 great rips from one tiny pinch with absolutely great taste and no burn. It appears to me that the pinch placed loosely between two cotton wisps nicely spaced out the fine grind, and that enhanced the convection effect. ABV was auburn and the cotton unscathed. This is not meant as a testament to the Solo, specifically, but rather the favorable results i got with the cotton. Anxious to finally try the Ascent to compare with the above results.​
