Discontinued Thermovape Cera

I've had a few requests for my thoughts on the Cera, so I thought I would drop in and give my :2c: now that I have had it for a while.

When the Cera was first announced, I wasn't really sold on it. I had acquired a T1/Evolution/Dart set up and was on the fence about this new development. Somewhere along the line, I started to see these jaw dropping videos of the oil cart spewing out fog and much to my bank accounts chagrin, I hopped on the preorder ride. I am sure glad that I did.

Out of the box, this is one sexy beast. Solid and comfortably weighted in the hand, it has a beautiful ceramic exterior that makes it hard to put down. It is a luxury for sure. I picked up the LL, EO and E-Liquid carts. Two of the carts were in small containers, and the LL was mounted. I also got my extra batteries, charger and a nice little packet of o-rings.

First thing I did was load up my EO core with oil...about a half gram. After holding down the switch for around 5 seconds, I took a small sip... It was cool and smooth...almost felt like nothing was there...so I blew out a little and was surprised at the thickness of vapor. Now I got a little cocky and took a huge haul after this, and proceeded to cough my lungs out. My wife thought I was having a heart attack and the cat crapped his pants. After I recovered with a refreshing bottle of Guinness, I connected it to a 250 ml EHLE tube I had kicking around, and milked that puppy...it was like a fog machine, seriously...vapor POURED out of the Cera. For awhile, I was even yanking the pin out like a grenade, and doing "oil bombs" but then I noticed the metal screw at the end of pin was wrecking the top of the battery, so I backed off :D The EO cart gets a 10/10 from me. The only things to note:

--If running upside down (connected to glass) oil will run toward the mouthpiece and can cause clogs. Not a big deal, but you might find yourself having to give a gentle blow into the unit to clear.

--You will have to scrape the oil down from the sides once in awhile. I find it alot of fun discovering how much oil I have left. :spliff:

Second up, was the E-Juice cart. I generally vape zero nic juice...why is that? Well, I find blowing smoke rings relaxing and I can't afford to be smoking herb all day, so it is a nice way to unwind I find. The cart looks exactly like the EO cart, except it is wired differently (can't recall numbers off the top of my head) A few drops of mint in there, and she was chugging away. The momentary switch is really handy here, as it allowed me to regulate the heat to a taste I enjoyed. Not really much to add, other than it is well built and does what it says on the tin!

Last, but not least...the infamous LL cart! Made out of ceramic, it is solid and quite nice to stare at. The experience for me, was similar to the T1 for those who owned one. This is not a big cloud producer, and you might be thrown going from the EO to this. It is possible to get good vapor production, as evidenced by some of the vids, but you will be dealing with a very hot Cera by the time you are done. So if you want to push it, then get a sleeve for sure. I actually found myself enjoying it as it was, and by the time I was done testing, I felt quite mellow.:smug: I also noticed the bottom of the herb does not brown as much as it did in the T1, leading me to believe the ceramic is doing a nice job of distributing the heat. It really is a little ceramic oven in there, once you get the lid one :) Flavour was pure and tasty.

Now the LL is the only cart where I started to wish I had a latching switch (which I modded). This is not such a big deal if you just want a few light sips, but it gets hot and hard to hold if you are trying to push it; this is not a deal breaker in my eyes, as mods can be done and to be honest, I think it's better NOT pushing it.

Overall thoughts...TET did an amazing job with this device. You can tell it is engineered with love, and was built to last. It is such a pleasure to hold and use, and a heck of alot of fun! In closing, I will summarize a few of the FAQs I get:

Recommend EO cart? YES!
Recommend E-Liquid? YES!
Recommend LL Cart? YES! (Depending on the user)

If you are considering Cera for LL only, I would advise being honest about what sort of user you are, before making the investment. There is a bit of technique involved, albeit not as much as the T1, but still enough to possibly deter some users...and it is not a huge ripper. So if you like automatic, or want huge rips from herb exclusively, then the LL is not for you. If you are discreet user, or a medical user who does not want to be choking on thick vapor, then this will do you just dandy.

Hope this helps some folks make their decisions. I am not really that great at reviews, so if I missed anything, feel free to PM me or ask here. As always, I reserve the right to change my opinion as time passes ;)

As to videos, I will have some up in about a week or so. I am updating my gear for work, and have to finish the transition before I can get back to creative. But I promise you all something worthy of the Cera ;)

Edit: As to the pulse switch...you don't need it. The momentary switch does the job perfectly ;)

Edit#2: Forgot to mention clean up...it is a snap. With a bit of heat or iso, oil wipes right off the ceramic. The carts can be iso soaked and/or boiled. You will want to give your top cap a wipe down in between oil and herb carts, otherwise you will have herb sticking to the oil, etc.

How long to you get on the LL till it becomes to hot to hold or use comfortably?

Got a piece for my Cera in advanced.. pretty soon I will order the EO cera package and ill be set.
But man it feels nice to hold this.. its really a tease. The cart itself just shows the quality in materials alone..solid and pretty heavy also.

Cant wait til the cera is readily availible for purchase.

I did the opposite of you. I am officially a Cera EO owner as of today (lack of latching switch cause me to switch from my original LL core order). I think I will eventually add the LL core to the arsenal but I dont wanna have to be stuffing my cera with foil (no offense for those who do) or any other weird mod. Hopefully a much more appropriate solution is in the works.

as for the CEO........Yes it was worth the hype any every penny! ( Been playing around with it for about four hours or so)

I will have to double check that for you...warm up is about 30 seconds, then get another couple slow draws in there and I was up to about 1.5-2 minutes and it was still comfortable.

You get on that experiment tweak and don't forget retest and retest so we have accurate results...lmfao. 1.5 mins lol....I want to hear 10min or so but doubt it.

lol yeah, 10 minutes and you could probably start branding cattle with it. You can probably do about 5 min holding the button down steady before it starts getting uncomfortable. I will go test burn myself, just for you. :spliff:

Edit: Keep in mind that is 5 minutes of holding the button down and heavy use. You will get more time if you are just taking short hits here and there.

I highly doubt the Cera LL gets THAT hot in ten minutes.... the T1 was not reported to getting that hot and it is the old, less advanced, version.

(edit...sorry, that sounded rude) From my experience with the unit, it does get quite hot under prolonged heavy use. The casual user should not be concerned, but I would still recommend the sleeve.

Ok folks, I feel bad not having a video yet, so here is a crappy iphone video of the EO cart in action. Better video to come.

In ten minutes the t1 would have already killed the batteries and had time to completly cool back off.
Battery life was only like 5 minutes and it gets plenty hot in that time.

yeah cera gets hot. ESPECIALLY when using cera as a party vape. fortunately the silicone mouthpiece cover solves the heat issue IMO. i used the cera party style all week and it never became too hot to use with the mouthpiece cover. An im taking about killing a battery nonstop and then popping in another one.

Video says embedding disabled by request, Tweek. Not sure if you meant to do that or not. I watched it on youtube, though. I love that song. You should post it on the cool tunes thread.

Great thread progress!

I was wondering how much oil cera EO owners have gotten through?

I remember with my dart, after so many grams it just slowed down and couldn't be cleaned like new... the EO cart is supposed to have twice? the amount of ceramic so it should last twice? as long, but what I'm hoping for is the laws of physics to be broken and it will taste great and pump out vapor forever!

Realistically though, maybe 28g of oil is a good guess of cart lifespan? I know my dart surely never made it through 14 grams...

Anyone know how long it would take to get your order if you just order like an eo and an ecig cart?

Might get them sooner if it is just carts, not sure. Drop them a line, they get back pretty quickly.

One DART core I have has a little over 20 grams of Pure Gold through it so far, and it still works great. I clean it every five grams or so worth, with a soak in 95% ethanol, including blowing ethanol through it via a tube, which helps clean out the four air input holes in the bottom and some of the nooks and crannies in the oven, then a half hour boil in water (mouthpiece end down, so the steam can be seen bubbling out the same four input holes), and then a 20-20-20 burn, or something like that (I usually get bored long before 20 cycles). Not quite as good as new, but still close, and still going strong.

This may have something to do with the fact that the only thing that's been through this DART is PG.

I would say definitely, I bet your puregold dart is still white, or some kind of yellow? I gave my dart anything I could get my hands on. It got so bad I couldn't even see the ceramic pores under the gunk build up

No, alas, that's one thing that only lasted for the first couple of loads, even with PG. My top ceramic piece is black. Still absorbs the PG fine when warm, but the glowing coil can really only be seen on the open sides of the ceramic now.

I am stuck on making my Cera operate in its original design. Latching switch w/thumb toggle on/off. Have any of the Macgyvers out there have checked out http://www.e-switch.com the PV1 Series Long Life, Water Resistant Anti-vandal Switches look promising. Or the PV4 switch illuminated. I am unsure of how difficult it would be to mount the spring onto switch. I know that epoxy keeps it in place inside a fiber tube. The switches also have different options such as soldered mounts or screw style.? What is the right one? The illuminated switch comes in BLACK!! SWEET!!

So many variable hopefully someone that knows what they are doing.

Do any of the BETA testers or members have details on the ORIGINAL sliding thumb toggle?

Any thoughts fellow members?

Thanks SMELLY
