Hi again,

You don't suppose it's been discussed a bit, do you?

No, it was? Did this leave an echo on FC??

So you really think you're the only guy to have considered this? ... Sometimes guys can't take hints I guess?

Please read, quote and respond correctly.

A link to the related passage would be appreciated as well...

I have reasons to believe it will be introduced in due time...

That's all i need to read at the moment!

:peace:

EDIT: SORRY EVERYONE!!!! I was a bit rash. I have not and do not have any plans to cancel my Cera order. Nor do I think this was any sort of "cheap trick" by TV. If their lawyers are telling them to do something they better listen. Cheers and sorry again folks :cheers:7upstar

I didn't see them charge any more for having the latching switch... although I wasn't too interested in the ordering-aspect of it so I can't say for sure. If they did charge more for the latching switch, my apologies and disregard that.

Prices affect companies more when they're start-ups with no investor funding outside of what they're profiting from the original TV line and from Cera sales. Saving money has to happen somewhere, and they've stated many times that they've chosen not to compromise on the quality of their products, so it makes sense to scrap some ideas instead of half-assing them, no?

In any case, good luck with your search. There's a good few other portables that are promising.

What about one of those weird plunging switches that stay on for a set amount of time after they have been depressed before popping back out. So say if the switch was set to stay depressed for 2 mins. In that amount of time you could press it in, let it heat up, have a few tokes then it would switch off. If your not done in 2 mins then you just depress it again and your set for another 2 mins.

The bottom line here I think is if their lawyers are telling them this is a dangerous thing to be selling they're not very likely to be doing it. No matter how upset we might be about it.

Owners are left with modifying their personal units (at their own risk) or living with it as offered if they want to own and use a Cera.

Folks pay a lot of money to lawyers for advice, they'd be pretty foolish to then ignore it. Not to mention irresponsible?

If folks think they can't deal with the unit as offered not ordering it (or asking for a refund) seems like a good call to me. There are other vapes in the world that might suit them more.

Don't think the lawyer would recommend TV openly encouraging latching switch modding on this forum...
That's my permanent switch :)

I like it!!!!

Cheers,

Most definitely makes them liable if anybody on this forum wants to file a suit if they had some problem due to modding a 'latching switch'

You know he might actually have a point... but maybe the point is: you can make a case against anyone for anything.
So what if TV includes a warning with the latching switch? I think a simple warning card would satisfy any legal argument...

But I'm not a lawyer, believe many are truly evil, and would take offense if I was called one so I'm probably not the best guy to take legal advice from :D

Well, if that were the case, someone could sue them for making their finger hurt from the momentary switch. Hell, I could sue Starbucks for cutting myself on a broken cup I bought from them...

Any word on the adapters to run the gear on your lovely Ultra?

Or you could sue them for burning your lips or hands? Or you could sue them for causing carpel tunnel syndrome from the awkward position of the momentary switch? Or poking your eye out with the mouthpiece? I, personally, don't know if there's any real legal reason as to not having a latching switch. It's much safer than whatever mod OF has shown. Now THAT doesn't look safe. The only people that know why they aren't doing the latching switch and should be explaining why is TET.

Always in a state of confusion and silliness♀
I think OF's switch solves all the problems with the included locking thingy. OF's switch can easily be held without doing magic tricks and no hurt fingers, his switch can be used as a momentary switch for the EO cart, and it can be used to toggle which EO people wanted. I think a switch like this can also satisfy lawyers since it goes off if not held. The only issue is you would have to make something to press to push it or it will happen by accident if you forget to put in the lock thingy. It is a thought and TV might be able to come up with a PRETTY one off your idea.:hmm:

How does this thing look?

It's the standard 19mm? The bushing thread looks a little long to me but it should fit?

What are the contact ratings?

Edit: You just changed the switch didn't you? That's not fair. This new one won't mount right looks like? OF

Come on people, it's an oven in your hand... turn it off when you are done! How hard is it to remember to turn it off when done with it? My sessions with Cera have been about 6-8 minutes. Yes the device gets hot, but not so hot that you can't handle it. When I decided I've had enough, I turn off the power... just like any other electric item I own. Including my stove top... sure glad that doesn't come with a momentary switch!

I agree, How about we don't be careless and turn off our 300$+ toy when not using it?

I wanted to stay out of this but,I have nerve damage in my hands and the latching switch would be nice. All it would take and should have anyway is a simple warning on the MP.
Some poeple can get Cera hot enough using it just the way it is to burn thier lips.
Should have default warning on MP CAUTION HOT!
Really want to be safe, add thermal cap to ALL orders and put one of those warning labels on it.
You know the ones nobody reads, even though it says read before use on it.
Warning MP can get very HOT w/extented use, TV recommends you use included thermal cap and cool down periods to avoid injury. As w/all medical devices use w/caution and keep out of reach of children!
That should make all the lawyers happy.:2c:
I'm sure it will get worked out in the long run, just give them some more time.

I think we all know that's not possible, right? Lawyers are really only happy when the suits are flying and the retainers swelling daily. You know the old joke? "Who wins in a law suit?". "Both Lawyers, every time".

Anyone who thinks a warning printed in English hopefully read and agreed to by the new owner is any protection at all from some random user (who probably didn't buy it from TV in the first place) and his lawyer decide to go for the brass ring. TV gets to pay to defend themselves at the least. So, if they have an honest lawyer (trying to protect his client) what advice do you suppose he might give?

All this speculation (which starts with my questionable assumption about avoiding legal risks) doesn't change anything. It may well be the (I think unexpected) 'dump hot oil out' not a burn issue. But think for a moment about being in court and having their lawyer working on the 'you should have known' aspect and asking for a list of other similar products with latching on functions. After he dismisses your trying to name desk top vapes he then directs the questions to say D9's experiences with problems with the (electronic) 'latching switch' on the hammer and what TV's automatic safety against drops (D9 installed one you know).......

Remember, we're dealing with a jury, not logic.

Indefensible the general term? Then, if you loose (or should that be when?), you can look forward to being sued by your own investors for not protecting their money better.......

That's sorta how it works where I come from. Sometimes.

Buggers me how a company like Zippo ever got their product to market without a momentary switch ?

Hey, I'm still amazed my ancestors made it from Saint Joe to California in that wagon without cell phones, microwave ovens and GPS.....all those years before subsidized mass transit.

so is the latching switch ever going to be available? that would suck for everyone with the herb cartridge if it never comes to be...

I asked this a few pages ago, but I think it got passed up in the excitement of a couple of new videos:

For those of you using the EO cart with various waxes/concentrates, how would you compare using the Cera to dabbing? Currently I dab at home, and use my Omicron on the go. I'd like to replace both if possible.. :brow: I've been waiting very patiently for about two months to place my order, but I don't think I can last much longer haha.

I dont think a warning card would help thermovape at all, even by printing "we are not liable, blah blah blah". Especially after they posted online that they were warned it was dangerous. All a lawyer has to say is, you were warned it was dangerous but you released it anyway.

I put my torch and ti nail in storage. This would be a great replacement for both.
