Does anyone know if an SSV ground glass wand would work with the da buddha? I broke the wand to my da buddha recently and 7th floor hasn't put accessories back up on the website since it was updated.

get silicone tubin from vaporstore.com ask if it will fit ur ssv ?

wow 5 feet is $7.50! :o
https://www.vaporstore.com/proddetail.php?prod=Tubing-M

you can get 10 feet from 7th Floor for only $.50 more. and you can get colors instead of just clear. but its vinyl and not silicone.

So what diameter does it need to be and is 7th floor's clear tubing silicone ro vinyl?

ive been told, by 7th Floor, that all of their tubing is vinyl and is made just for them... tho im not sure about the last part.

i like the vinyl because it doesnt attract oils and lint and stuff on it. all the silicone ive ever used always has shit stuck to it. ive never noticed a taste difference between the two.

3/8" ID X 1/2" OD is the size

I don't mind the cash on the SSV if it's that much different from the DBV

ive used both and cannot tell a difference functionally.

good luck and enjoy!
There's a definite difference between the hits from a standard SSV and a DBV. The SSV has a small output opening on the heater cover, providing a much narrower stream of heated air into the wand/bowl, allowing for a higher vapor to air ratio than the DBV can provide. Assuming a good amount of herb is loaded, this narrow air stream provides hits that are more vapor rich. The tighter, more focused air stream also means having to rotate the wand a little during hits to spread the heat around. The DBV, OTOH, with its wider air stream, gives hits that are a little smoother, with a higher air content, and much more predictable. So the SSV is a like a stick shift on a car, giving you more punch and more to play with, but more work as well.

Yes, but the SSV wand has a larger opening than the DBV one, so I would think they are still pretty darn close performance wise.

Yeah it will work fine, I use the SSV GG wands because they are made of thicker glass and have some color in them. Just don't buy a SSV heater cover thinking you can use it with your DBV, it will be too tall and have an awkward angle.

Hey Melizzard I'm gonna rap with you about the truth, though some may disagree, i'ma tell you what's up.

The best type of tubing is medical grade Tygon. This stuff doesn't have any plasticizer chemicals on it, can take real high temperatures, is easy to clean, and has no noticeable taste like the vinyl does.

You combusted because your wand was too full... pack it a little lighter (the directions indicated 1/4 full or less), breathe in normally, and stir frequently.

Can we find Tygon online or do you have a preferred source?

Thanks!

Melizzard,
i tink its usplastics.com yup they have it, other silicone can go up to 500 degrees may b. Tygon Sanitary Silicone Tubing 3350
Designed for high-purity applications, Tygon Sanitary Silicone Tubing's ultra-smooth inner bore can reduce the risk of particle entrapment and microscopic buildup during sensitive fluid transfer. In-house analysis of the inner surface of Tygon Sanitary Silicone Tubing compared to other silicone tubing shows that it is up to three times smoother. Additionally, this smoother fluid path facilitates complete system cleaning and sterilization. Utilizing a platinum-curing process, Tygon Sanitary Silicone Tubing eliminates the concern of extraction often encountered when alternative curing methods are used. It has also been fully characterized using the ISO 10993 standards, reducing user cost and time associated with process validation. Max working temp 400F

This is the stuff:

http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=23278&catid=864&clickid=searchresults

Tygon Sanitary Silicone Tubing 1/4" ID x 3/8" OD with 1/16" Wall

With this size it will fit over the mouthpiece (very tight fit) and into the wand (depending on your wand, you might need a small piece of paper towel or rubber o-ring to close the gap.. I just use paper towel).

Buy 10' (minimum order) and you'll have whips for the next few years...

Edit:

1/4 full depending on speed of intake, length of intake, and quality of product should get you 6 - 12 hits if you keep stirring and have a good temp..

Could you tell /e how you get paper towel around your tubing then get it in the wand? Thanks so much!

Well I just rip off a little strip of the towel (say 2 inches long and 1 inch high) wrap it once or twice around the tube (about half an inch from the top) then stick it in the wand.

Then it fits over the mouthpiece on the other end of the tube by twirling the mp in and pushing (lightly wetting the mp can help too).

Or you could buy slightly larger tubing. This is with the measurements I posted above.

Hey Vayu,

The measurements I got when I used a digital caliper on the SSV/DBV tubing, this is what I got:

- 0.5" OD
- 0.357" ID
- 0.06" Thickness

So if you go closer to 1/2" OD, you might not have to use the paper towel technique.

I need single hit capacity after a couple minutes of pre-heat. I could go either way with DBV or SSV. I don't care about dressing things up with colored glass. just looking for performance. That would / could include buying custom parts.

Given that, is there a clear choice DBV or SSV?

7th Floor just told me the tubing is 3/4". Will have to try to find that size, I guess. :)

3/4"? really

they told me 1/2" od and 3/8" id

and after measuring every bit of the tubing ive gotten from 7th floor this is the size

3/4" tubing will not work for an SSV unless your using a different wand setup

honestly i would just get it from 7th floor. their prices are very fair and its guaranteed to fit. why even look for another supplier?

this is right

if you use anything larger than 1/2" OD it wont fit and if you use anything under that, youll have to shim it... no point in doing that

considering your original statement id go for the DBV. i say this simply because both will do what you want, but the DBV is cheaper.

now if you can find an SSV for around $180 (as some have stated they have seen on ebay) id would go that route. unless you really dont like the look of worked glass. if a more industrial look is what you prefer then back to the DBV is my suggestion.

either way your going to love it.

its really too bad 7th floor is pricing the Life Saber so high... looks like a great piece. one that i would totally recommend if the pricing wasnt what it is.

Thank you 2Clicker. Nice thoughtful answer. I have a couple of questions about DBV, but I'll find the thread on that unit, since this is SSV.

Thanks again

Figured it would be best to pose this question in this thread. I already have an EQ, MFLB and PD, but have never gotten the chance to use a SSV, and I am having trouble staying away. My local shop will sell me a pretty sexy black SSV with red base and rasta colored knob (standard heater cover) for $250 (good relationship, they have them priced at $280). I am conflicted because money is a bit tight, I am planning on buying the Cloud, and I already have a whip vape in the EQ. Should I go for it, or are the benefits not much compared to the EQ? Would love to hear from the community who owns both, or has at least used both.

ShadowLink12; I bought an Iolite back on Dec 11/09 (haven't used it since July), and Extreme .v3 on Jan 26/10 (use it daily), a Magic Flight Launch Box on March 8/10 (use it about 4-5 times per week), and an SSV on August 31rst/10 (use it about7-12 times per week).

Is it different than the Extreme? In my opinion, yes! It's capable of hitting much harder, I think because of the air flow through the heater cover and design of the wand. The control of the vaping temperatures is, I feel, not as good as the Extreme.

I use the Extreme throughout the evening, usually starting at 140C, and working my way up to 190C over two hours (using ~0.3g). When I've got insomnia, I use the SSV at maximum position, and load ~0.2g. <------- that puts me to sleep within about 30 minutes.

Bottom line is that I obviously think the Extreme and SSV are complimentary.
