Discontinued Omicron Vaporizer for oils

That's a bummer. Now I have to wonder where it is I got the two I have..... Better stop recommending them too.

Until a replacement that will work can be found, here's the 'old school' way of doing this. Either saw the end off a bolt or something like that or use a machine screw and nut. We need something like .6 inches, best 'off t he shelf' fit is 5/8 inch (.625 inches) but I just used 1/2 (.5 inches) and it seems to work fine. I used a 6-32 screw and nut, but the size is not important, only the length. I put a hex nut on the other end, just started on, so it has a broad flat end. Then I wrapped the center of it with tape until is was an easy slip fit in the tube. The tape holds the metal in the center and keeps it from touching the walls (not that that is needed if it's in the bottom position). You do the same with a sawed off bit of bolt or rod, use tape to bring the diameter up so it fits well.

You can also make a temporary spacer from aluminum foil (roll up a strip of the right width), but being so soft they tend to collapse and get stuck.

OF
Guys,

The 15mm round by 15mm long is the most common size. If you can't easily grind it down, you can search for smaller ones (I have some that are 12mm around), but the size is rarely mentioned.

There is an easier to "fix": (and higher quality AND SAFER) part available:

http://www.oveready.com/sleeves-spacers/battery-spacers-15/32mm-/prod_217.html

This is a Delrin insulated battery connector made just for this purpose. However, it is either 17 or 18mm wide, but cutting down the Delrin is quick on a Dremel, trivial on a table grinder and not too tedious even by hand. NOTE: This part is even recommended for use during operation - Not so much worrying about someone putting it at the top of the tube.

So is the electrical taped washers a no go or am I OK with it as a temporary fix until someone finds something that can be used as a standard? (w/ the 14500's)

It should work fine, provided the hole in the middle isn't so big the spring loaded plunger slips inside. And I guess if it does you can always make the stack longer and ignore the spring? I'm not a big fan of that since there's no compliance available as things heat up and change size, but others have reported it worked for them.

For all that goes, I guess you don't even need the tape if the washers are close enough to the right size?

The best long term solution is, I think, an adapter that is the right size for our needs, or maybe THC will sell us the longer spring end cap as a loose item?

Of course my secret wish is THC will make a tube 15mm shorter so the 14500s fit with the short cap....OK, it's not a secret now.... But that way the whole V2 is over half an inch shorter, no need to have 'the empty space' in the tube.

Sounds good and definetly would be nice option to play with. Assuming cost friendly and what not.. ;)

I guess I don't even remember being overwhelmed by that combination, let alone for days on end. It's part of how you do what you do, would probably kill a weaker guy?

Anyway, a typo is a tiny thing, but I get so little to poke fun at you with, can't hardly blame me, can you?

Still reminding myself, "you don't need another Persei or V2....really you don't".

I wont blame you my friend.

on the other side, you dont need a new persei, you dont need a new persei, you dont need a new persei.

My v2 has been out of commission for the last week:( From what delta is telling me the oil leaked and has basically glued the cart to the actual device sigh. I tried what they told me but it didn't work :(

Bummer, if it's glued together you can't even clean it up to mail it in I guess?

Two suggestions, first off buy the $10 V2.5 upgrade head (better mechanically, probably wouldn't get stuck as solidly). This will get you up and running again (no, that wasn't a leaking oil joke....).
http://www.delta9vapes.com/products.php?product=Omicron-V2.5-Top-upgrade-Matte-Black

Secondly, the electronics inside should be able to stand up to 70 degrees C unpowered. It'll be tough on 'em, but right now they're useless. I'd wrap it in foil for even heating and bake it at a confirmed (that means measure it first) 160F for 15 minute or so. Then using gloves or a rag, quickly unwrap it and try to unscrew it. One of those 'noting to loose' deals?

Good luck.

Understood. This issue is, I think, contamination. It's not legal to mail THC...... Your unit is covered with it and has it deep inside.

Took some wax loaded in a 5 ohm cart and the Omicron v2 up to 15,000ft...

Worked like a charm!
How's the omicron on a plane?

And has anyone been having charging issues? Mine just keeps flickering green, then red.

maybe a 99% iso soak/wash could work?

Try dripping ISO through the cartridge. It WILL leak out the bottom, but after a few mls you should be able to loosen the cart. Do make sure you work over something to absorb or catch the gunk that will come out the bottom (and get all over the Omi top). You'll need to swab the top with more ISO after you get the cart out.

if the cart is stuck to the top, what you want to do is take a lighter and gently heat up the connection few seconds at a time and trying gently to unscrew it.

This is whats in the works guys.

I wouldn't know, it's just not worth the chance of getting randomly searched imo (also planes fly at 35,000ft according to google)

I was at 15,000ft (give or take a 1,000ft or two ;)) with my feet on solid ground. The air was thin but the Omicron never quit working! :spliff:

Mine works in an open cockpit at 14k, no probs! When a bic lighter fails!
Btw I have ran over 10g of wax through a 1.5 ohm cart, still going strong! Never cleaned!

I'm really digging the mini Omicron. Are there any plans to sell it as a separate kit? I would love to pick up a second unit.

No, just the 1st one was. The 2nd one works pro, just every hit it flashes 3 times before it stays going.

Did you test the cart out when it was empty? did it do it then?

Ya, The cart works fine on both my v1 pens and gives off rips like right now i hit the v2 pen it blinks 3 times 3 times in a row before the light goes. I will just order the v2.5 top and hope it helps lol. I have a leaky older cart i found ill clean it up and see if it blinks 3 times.

tested it with a old empty cart i had and it still did the 3 blinks 2 times in a row before it stayed going. Should i take it back to the club again and ask for a new one? :( lol or will a v2.5 top fix it you think?

before you order or anything tell me what happens with the old cart, then we will replace your top with new one one, since replacement tops are the 2.5 so you dont have to order.
