No work today and probably ran through about 40 stems. Very productive day to boot, especially in my yard. Also, very enjoyable day inn regard to vapor intake. Thanks Tom and Pammy
Holy Me, 40 Stems! I spent all day building raised gardens and planting grass...My PD was there for me too...and ibuprofen. Anyway, I doubled my regular daily dosage and vaped...3 Stems!

I am the Vapor King--I can do anything
Ive had my PD for about five months now, and I just picked up a trick that works wonders. After grinding my herb as fine as I can, I use the straw technique to fill up the tube with almost as much herb as I can without it soloing over. I then proceed to do two vapebong hits. Now the trick: before the third hit blow out your herb on to something like a sheet of paper. Then use your fingers to crush up the herb as much as you can. At this point after two hits the herb should crumble easily and become very fine. Then suck up the herb and take a third hit. I can guarentee that third hit will be far cloudier than a typical third hit.

I know this trick has been mentioned before, but I really want to stress this teqnique. It takes very little time and works wonders. Remember, vaping is all about surface area and completely exposing the herb.

^^ Yup. Been doing it that way for years. Actually, I've been able to get 2 solid vapebong hits and one weak hit before dumping and finger crumbling. After the finger crumble, reload for another bong hit, but don't dump it out yet. There is one more hit available if you hit it directly thru the PD. That's 5 hits. 3 strong.............2 weak.

Good reminder though, deadhead. Lots of newbie PD users on board.

nice tip man! i basically do the same thing with my mflb and agree the re-grinding makes a big difference.

I re-grind too, but I always use the bottom of a MFLB battery to do so, and not my fingers as you will lose THC on your fingers.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you here lwien but just want to point out (especially to new and prospective buyers) that number and quality of hits is not something that is standardized with the PD. That is, these are not results everyone can expect, some might experience more, some less. I know this is a point that has been brought up many times before but just wanted to point out that different users (and their respective 'herbs') will have different results.

I personally usually only take about two hits before dumping my stem, sometimes more, sometimes less. I rarely take more than 3 hits even though there are certainly a couple left in there. Never done the regrinding technique here but sounds like it works wonders. :)

Point well taken. You are absolutely correct.

I've noticed this as well. I guess it's because you can create a slower draw than your bong.

The dryness of the herb has a lot to do with how many hits you get also. I can get 6 or 7 lighter hits from semi moist herbs, or 2 or 3 big hits from bone dry stuff.

True. My stash is neither moist or bone dry, but rather well cured.

Greetings brothers and sisters, I have a quick story and some news concerning the PD 4-20 contest.

First, the story.
As I have posted here before, I have been looking for a solution for my need to have a cap in place to protect my partially used stems and the potential ABV spillage here and there, sometimes in my pocket...sometimes on the counter, etc. For my brain, a cap was an elegant solution. Well, turns out that a random tire pressure release valve cap fit nicely although I was constantly worried about plastics melting or shaving into my vapor path. It also turns out that tire caps are easy to lose and that none of the dozen or so I tried to replace the original one with fit correctly.
Boo-hoo right? Nope.
I asked Tom and Pammy via an email last Monday if they might have any solutions for me. It was one of those things that I was constantly worried about...kinda silly, but important to me. To add to the many accolades given in this monster thread, by Friday I had two new "Cool Caps" rocking on two of my stems. I can put them in my pocket, toss them in a drawer, or just leave it out by the diffuser (as it reduces the slight "drug paraphernalia" look of the stems) and suffer no mess, no fuss. This was done at no charge to me and they sent a bonus tin of buzz-butter...wow, what a shot in the arm to the dying art of customer service. Pammy and Tom are very, very good and sincere with their service. Buyer need not beware.

What is a Cool Cap? Well, I am glad you asked. A Cool Cap is a rounded piece of hardwood that fits perfectly over the bowl end of the stem allowing for travel and convenience to those who like that sort of thing. It is also part of a consolation PRIZE PACK for every 2011 PD 4-20 Contest entry.
How do I know this, other than my being a prophet...well, Tom told me so.

But wait, there's more.

Every contest entry will also receive as a consolation prize package:
One PD vapor tube/stem
One screen replacement pack
One Cool Cap (as noted above)

One more thing, it sounds like this is a one time Cool Cap offer, as Tom won't be able to produce these regularly...so, get 'em whilst they are hot.

No fine print, none needed with this manufacturer.

Thanks Pammy and Tom for your stellar commitment to the PD family and your over-the-top customer service!

P.S. Nobody get all ruffled up, I was given the green light to tell you all and to remind you that 4-20 is almost upon us.

And to think that's the "consolation prize package". Wow! Thanks to Tom and Pammy for giving so much back to their customers! :peace:

Weedmon, thanks for the kind words. But, the website says North America Orders Only for a reason. We do not want to deal with internet translators or the Russian alphabet, or the French Postal System, or the South African Duties, or the Brazilian Customs, or the political issues involved with selling to certain Middle East countries, or any of the other hassle etc. etc. etc.

Great postcard of Canarfon Castle, Wales, UK!!!

So you went to the UK?
Jeez, why didn't you take a truck-load of PDs with you?
I'm sure they will have sold for upto $260.

Is it possible to speak with a UK retailer who can get hold of a limited quantity of PD's?
You could arrange exclusive PD availability in the UK.
I wouldn't hesitate to pay upto $260 for it.
Although if it was $190, I'd probably klll to get to the front of the queue.

I have a feeling that UK retailers would fall over themselves to get an exclusive PD contract.
Like the Pandora, it can be a one-off.
So at the end of it,you can actually come out of your workplace and see
the sunshine.

The project will not only raise awareness of the PD, but also help the entire vaporiser market in the UK.

Also, I have paid $130 for the MFLB in the UK.
And it retails at $99 in the US. Some are talking of even cheaper prices.
My point is, a fair higher price in the UK will be agreeable to customers, and that may cover the extra inconvenience for you.

Lwien, I told you long ago, if I ever hire a mouthpiece, it would be you.
Brother Brigham is not on the payroll . . .
Everybody knows it's just me and Pammy (and Kali and Kori). No secrets. ;)

The 'Cool Caps' were Brother Brigham's idea. I recognized the potential usefulness right away, when he suggested it, but it's not a commercially viable product for us. When he asked if he could share his idea, I said sure, then thought of a way to get a few out there (to the PD family) without selling them. Was already going to be giving a PD tube and screen pack as the consolation prize so this is a nice add on to that.

Brother Brigham got some of the very first wood we bought back in early 2008, some Cocobolo and Bocote. I'm a wood-shop pack rat and keep little scraps like that for things like tool handles or jig parts.
qysb55.jpg

I've got some Black Mesquite we transported from Oregon, that's too dense for PDs and some wind stressed Black Walnut that I can get small pieces out of, so mostly expect those two species. Nothing fancy just a little cap for the end. Lagniappe for the consolation prize.

Thanks for the idea Brother Brigham. ;) I hope folks enjoy it.

Grand Prize TBA... we enjoy giving back to the PD Family. :)

Did someone say contest? I missed the last one, you will not see me miss this one. thanks as always...

IAmKrazy2,
Thanks for that info, Tom.

I've been ill for the past 3 days and haven't been able to keep up with this thread. So, many apologies to everyone for the unusual post!

I did think mentioning increasing supply would be a difficult proposal. Lol!!!
And I can understand now why your work model is unique.

I don't own a PD and thus do not belong to the PD family.
But have enjoyed reading this thread nonetheless.
I do have an MFLB though, and will be turning to the MFLB thread.

We don't celebrate 420 in the UK.
But I am certain 420 will be great this year, in the US.#

Edit:
Extraordinary. The reply sent to me in the earlier post has now disappeared.
Perhaps my eyes deceive me.

^^^ Vapemania, check the times... my last edit was long before your post. What was deleted was a boring bit (and a waste of time for the readers) that has been gone over many times and on second thought deleted it.

Yes, IAmKrazy2, get that card in the mail soon. I don't think post cards travel as fast as letters.
I think somebody is gonna dig the Grand Prize. :2c:

the cool cap sounds pretty neat :) maybe a product we will be able to order more of in the future?

also got me wondering on that the grand prize is... :p you will post a picture of the grand prize once the winner has been announced so we can all see it too right?

Thanks Brother Brigham - safe alternative to little plastic covers keeping everything nice and clean. Glad to hear about the consolation packs, I have misplaced a stem or two over the past year so the more the merrier.

Tom - Love the wood on your round file

The round file is Amboyna. Not sure where or when I got the original chunk. Dirty hands and all it's still a pretty piece. I think they sell that stuff by the pound, so a little scrap doesn't go in the garbage. The little square of Brazilian Rosewood above that, I carried through many states and maybe 30 years, or more, before making it a Purple-Days glue scraper with a stick of galvanized rod forged flat and at an angle at the end. Similar to a palette knife that Pammy might use (where the idea comes from). The upper piece is Bocote, one of those first PD wood purchases, nice wood but that one is a bit plain. I dig wood, have for a long time, since about 7 years old, by 12, I was hooked and saw it as a lifetime hobby. Didn't realize I would be a real carpenter some day... Of course tools is a the real addiction. Wood is neat, but tools are . . . well, I watch a lot of Roy Underhill and have since he started...

Yes, I will take a picture of the Grand Prize and post it. In most cases I won't post pictures of my products as they are destined for somebody and I don't want to spoil their first impression. (ie. the request for Sapele pics earlier). But, I have always showed off the Grand Prize of our contests. So, once the 'prize' is finished . . . I will post a picture. In the meantime I am working on regular orders and squeezing in a bit of 'prize time', every once in a while.

I figured since the contest is for the PD Family only this time, vapor tubes made sense, you aren't the only one, MILK who has lost one... Now where is that darn tube???

+++

Weedmon, as I posted, "it's not a commercially viable product for us", the 'Cool Cap' is for this contest's entries. And maybe a few folks, who consider us friends, or as an occasional lagniappe in our kits. It's just not possible to sell an item like this for what it's worth ($2?). Material costs , labor expenses, shipping charges, Paypal fees, Fed and State income taxes, Pammy's office time and other expenses, accounting for it all . . . :ko:
