I know I'm not supposed to double post, it's just that no one else is. Here's to keeping it alive!

So I've made a video of back to back usage of the Dynavap and the Vapman. It's just a fun raw session that I did moments I got off of work. It says sorry in the corner because I lied and didnt show you my abv at the end because I ended the video by mistake. Enjoy, as always 420 in the 204!

Just saw this beauty while browsing... Looks really cool, didnt know those were around,is that laser etched ?

Yes, initially they were custom made and laser engraved by our member @M0J0  there were other beautiful engravings. This pic ist from the german retailer verdampftnochmal - once they mentioned him in their shop, now in the description it is mentioned that it is made by the inventor of vapaman itself:hmm: @M0J0' s site infinityVM.com is not Online anymore. Hope he is doing well?! :uhoh:

Good Morning all,

I have recently restarted to smoke weed after quiting both cigarette and joint during the last 10 years. Being not anymore a cigarette smoker I have found very harsh to the throat and the lungs. So decided to look into vaporizers.
Quickly bored by all these Chinese produced battery powered devices (another device with transfo, charging cable and that you throw away when battery dies) I discovered the vapman. I was really attracted by the of enthusiasm, the handcrafted aspect and by the fact that you don't loose this "ritual" aspect. I don't want to "consume" and I want to enjoy my medicine.
I decided to go for a classic wallnut + vapman torch + ebony mouthpiece (don't like sucking plastic) + black egg. I have also picked up two grinder at verdampftnochmal.de. Once Steely Dan (no aluminium) and the ML finishing grinder because I have read at sereval places that the Vapman like very fine grind.

Received the whole package last Monday and tried during evening. First of all, what a beautifull piece of craft. So tiny, so precise. The locking mechanism locked into place with a satisfying and mechanical "click".
I have followed the following procedure:
4 sec torching (middle flame sized)
2 sec rest
4 sec torching
10 sec hit
3 sec torching
10 sec hit
...
Pleased by the effect (no punch, it comes progressively and smoothly) yet no vapor. I expected that since I have read nearly all the 300 pages of this topic before to buy. But it is true that at frist you ask yourself if the device works. I started to vary a bit the techniques since Monday. Tried the very progressive method (by 2 sec burst) or the other way around (I have burnt several bowl). Wasn't able to find that sweet spot that everyone is referring to. A lot of variables to play with : flame size, burst duration, hit duration, flame distance, hit length...

Quite difficult to master frankly when it is your first vap and you don't know what to expect. I did 7 bowls in total and each was unique. Steep learning curve. I like that. My only problem ? I have to wait the evening to try it. That's the most difficult.

Cheers guys,

Update from 10pm : I think I am on something. I did 2 sessions. The first one was average (procedure was 2 secondes burst and hit). Noticable effect, almost no vapor. After couple of hours and reading one the old page on this forum, I read about someone saying that he was keeping the point of the inner flame away from the apex of heating chamber. I realized that I was applying the top of the flame on it and I decided to do a second cession taking a bit more distance but still counting 3 secondes. I heated just once and took a quick sip and realized I was on something because flavor was very present. I have persisted : 3 secondes burst, inner flame away and short sip (4 secondes), and keeping the sip in me while bursting. I think I had 6-7 hits in total. The first 2 were very flavored and then vapor started to arrive. The last one was not necessary. Cause it was a tight too brown at the opening. But I think I also understood when to stop.
As I am writing I can feel definitively stronger effect than with the first session:rockon:. The effect of the first session were almost gone.
Sweet spot, wait for me, I am coming...

@Victarion Use what ever works for you, for me I splash the inner flame for 5s and I inhale after each torch as to not burn the bowl. I get 3 good hits before it's spent. First is little to no visible vapor, second is light vapor and the last hit is the face puncher which I normally torch for 3-4s.

A nice tip for you though, if you wanna vape Keif in your vapman i'd fill the wok about 50% and then put the concentrate screen on top so you aren't sucking it up through the MP. I'm glad there are still people getting into this vape for the first time! I feel like this is what I wanted my MFLB to be (I still love my LB)

Anyways as always 420 in the 204

Welcome to the Forum @Victarion. Great choice of Vape and very uncommon for someone who begins his journey in the Vapeworld. I think most people start with electronic devices nowadays. I myself too, but I came to really like butane-powered vapes and use mine almost all the time now.

As @204Markie mentioned the Magic Flight Launch Box above, I would consider the Launch Box another great Vaporizer for having a nice ritual attached to using it. Very relaxing, since you don't count normally and it also has a little learning curve.

I think both Vapes are very rewarding after you found a technique that works out for yourself.

I got a Vapman Classic Pear for christmas and love it since then. I had an eye on it for quite some time now.

My Vapcaps introduced me to butane vapes and since I got my Omni, I was using it almost all the time only using my electronic vapes in between. That's when I became interested in the Vapman and later the Vaponic which I got as well lately.

I think the Vapcap, the Vaponic and the Vapman are somehow very different devices but with having used the Vapcap before, which prevents one from combusting by it's clicking cap, I had some training which helped me a lot with the Vaponic and now also with my new Vapman.

I find the Vaponic very hard to "read" and my results with it are still mixed, somehow I can't find way to get an intuitive feeling for it.

That is completly different with the Vapman, somehow I almost instantly got a "feeling" for it and very satisfying results. Obviously, I am still working on optimizing my technique but I am pretty happy by now.

Normally I start by heating the apex of the pan with the inner bright flame of the lighter for 3s, pause for 2s, then heat for another 3s, pause for 2s and then heat it again for about 4 or 5 seconds and take a long toke with good visible vapor. After that I normally do a 3s rewarm, wait 2s and then heat again for 4 to 5 seconds to take the next toke. I can do that about 5 to 10 times until I consider the load spent. The ABV has an even and nice dark brown color then (like roasted coffee).

Sadly, I had to wait a couple of days before I could use it, because Verdampftnochmal sent me a device which did not have the 2016 introduced heat protection ring. They sent me a replacemt mid-section very fast though. They said they updated the devices themselves and I had a unit where they must have forgotten it but maybe I would check for the ring in case they are sending out old stock. Would not be a tragedy, since the Vapman worked great for a very long time without the ring but I personally like to have the latest iteration of a product in most cases.

Anyways, long story short, I love my new Vapman. Very personal Vape with lots of character and great taste. Thank's @vapman .

You guys probably guessed that I just used it. :D

Also a welcome from me @Victarion!

For me it took a while to find the sweet spot of tasty and cloudy hits, but I can guarantee you it's worth the "effort". The Vapman Station helped me to unveil the true potential of the Vapman.

My heating technique: heat the pan three seconds, two second pause, reheat three seconds, inhale (three-five seconds) and repeat. When I want a higher temperature I heat it two seconds, one second pause, two seconds heating and inhale. When I reach the desired temperature I heat it for about two or three seconds.

You guys probably guessed that I just used it. :D

I like your post, please continue using your Vapman!

Time for the update. But before, many thanks to all for your warm welcomes.

Following my recent post about the fact that I was definitively “on something”, I decided to stop all this circus. What I mean by that is that I decided to stop overthinking. I have always sucked at being steady and consistent in my life. Cannot stop changing mind, ideas (in the context of the vapman: grind size, heating time, duration, strain…). What striked me was the lack of logic in buying something that give so much control to the user (involving a longer learning curve which is what creates the emotional attachment to this object) and at the same time the will to get quick and consistent results (lazy mode, no patience). I mean, didn’t I choose this one over all these high tech vaps firstly because of the manufacturer passion and care to produce a safe, effective and beautiful product at a fair price ? Isn’t the low tech aspect part of the enjoyment ? YES and YES. I went directly to this vape because it seems that at the end people seems to praise him, even the one with 10 other vap devices. It seems to have a soul. I am always trying to buy once and right. Someone poor told me once “I am not enough rich to buy cheap”.

Back to the circus, I decided to use what I have been the best at in my life, my feelings. And I am very good at this. After several days of consecutive bowls (using cbd in order to keep a better sensitivity of what is happening along the cession), I understood what works.

Regarding the "theory":
Very fine grind, like the one produced by the finishing grinder of the MFLB is, for a beginner in vaping, and at least for me, difficult to “cook” without burning, even when being “shy” with the heat. I cross the line too easily. Stick with medium grind for now.
Low flame size setting seems to work best for me.

And that's it. The rest is impro and feelings And I find this to be entirely part of fun.
I understood that the mantra of this forum “don’t be shy with the heat” isn’t for me. My seconds were true since the beginning.
I understood that you have to build up the temperature and it is not an ON/OFF process.
I understood that I can listen my fingers. I can keep heating as long as I don’t feel the heat on my fingers. The one in contact with the outside ring. When I feel heat there I get the sensation that the “pic” in terms of temperature is reach or very close (usually middle of cession). The few draws that comes before this plateau (usually 2 or 3) are very flavored and the one (or two) after are more cloudy.
I understood when the bowl is done (almost no flavor at all during inhale and end of exhale taste differently).
And I understood that the cloud isn’t the finality even if funny.

Three micro bowl of good quality Jack Flash CBD flower gave me nice flavor (I’ve never imagine that weed could taste “fresh” when I was smoking), a very very relaxed mind and body and light clouds. Did I mentionned I was very relaxed ? Almost too relax to read Georges Orwell's 1984 in my bed.

Ladies and Gentlemen!
It's "Have a session with your Vapman"-Day
today. So take your Vapman and have a session! :)

In honour of the "have a session with your Vapman"-day I vaped 'Strawberry CBD' that evening, a nice tasting high CBD low THC strain. I used that strain in the Vapcap, Vaponic and Dobby (the German version of the Triihouse Lily) and it tasted best when used with the Vapman. What a vape!

I was cleaning my vapman earlier today and i tried to clean the mica on the top around the bowl, I used a rounded dabbing tool and i gently scraped it, getting it more shiny, ive never done this before and ive had this vape for a few years now and really enjoy it. Now I notice that the mica keeps flaking off and it doesnt seem to want to stop, is there anything i can do? or did I ruin it. Im worried about breathing in those particles that are flaking off.

I had once the same problem while cleaning, since then I use the official NETM-process (NETM = Never Ever Touch the Mica!). :D:myday:;)

I clean only the pan, the middle section, mouth piece and filter once in a while. The Mica has the right to recieve a nice patina from the herb vapor; which btw. protect the mica very well.
If it once starts to flaking, I use more herb vapor to make a patina with the NETM-processing. ;)

Here one of my oldest VM with a thick patina:

(sorry, I have to learn to use another pic-hoster and let it display in the forum.. the image-function doesn't seems to work with me..:hmm::huh:)

Bummer, but you're not the first. Mica is a mineral, laid down in very thin plates.....which I guess you now know? The plates are 'glued' together by deposits of other minerals rather than being attached to each other. The best plan is, of course, NETM as explained above.

However, René (inventor/maker of VM) offers a possible fix, what he does to keep the edges from fraying when he makes them, Boiled Linseed Oil. Just what he uses to finish the edges when he makes them. You can get it from paint, hardware and gun stores. It's the standard finish for fine gun stocks. Avoid any similar products, they often contain dryers and other agents ("Japan dryers") to make it cure faster, these often contain nasty stuff (like heavy metals). You want 'pure boiled linseed oil', get a small container since it almost always hardens in the jar after you open it up (store upside down to try to combat this).

Wipe in on the raw edges with several thin coats, allowing it to dry to the touch between applications. Folks have reported success following his suggestion if the damage isn't too bad.

Then practice NETM? If you don't seal the edges it'll flake and flake as moisture creeps in between layers then boils when you use it further damaging it.

Good luck.

This is why my 2nd vapman was the basic owO it may burn but it wont flake lol. My yew is starting to become a deeper colour and is starting to show more character. I was thinking of getting a third VM (I miss having 2) in Walnut. @vapman is it possible to get a basic Walnut but finished with the oil? I wanted to get a Walnut Mflb to go with it. I love that the mouth pieces can be interchangeable, looks good with the POM black! I have the pom white as backup from my other VM I got from vaporizers.ca when they were on clearance.

Don't worry, it isn't micro dust and absolutely non toxic. Mica has been used in toasters, hairdryers and more since over hundred years! It is only silicate, one of the most common minerals on earth!

Of course you can have a basic american walnut with the linseed oil finish! You have my email address, I am looking forward to it!

@procrastineando: You have a very nice collection, how do you decide which one to use? Is it Monday to Friday and the weekend off...lol

Kind regards to everyone! It has been a while since I joined in. You are a very loyal and nice bunch of people, I love you all!!

So an update on my flaking mica situation... I applied 8 thin coats of linseed oil about 12 hrs apart and I let it sit for a few days. I noticed about a 90% improvement. After vaping for a week on it, it improved even more. I guess a new layer of patina was building. It's still looks very fragile, but as long as I follow the NETM rule, I'll should be fine. But perhaps I'll apply a coat or 2 of some oil every month or so.
A few coats of oil on the wood really helped bring back some luster after years of not doing anything to it. It got the avb smell out and got it smelling like a lasagna. The smell is fading as I use it more.
Other then that mishap, it still works and looks great!
