The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

The edit button has gone so I believe I'm entitled to a double post without fear of mod trouble.....

I've always said the eq is much more powerful than the solo, as much as I love the solo, I could put a gram through it, and be nowhere near the same level as 0.07 in the eq.....

@1DMF is one person I've tried to emphasise this to...

This has really shown itself since Iv not been able to use it for 5 days now, I'm not passing out at night anymore like I used too, it's taking a bit of laying there and trying to sleep, instead of me just going instantly....

My old routine was only 2 eq baskets and a solo stem, per night.

1 basket at 6pm, 1 at 9pm, and a solo after....

I swapped that out now for just 2 solo sessions, so I'm using the same amount of herb, but getting way less medicated....

I miss my eq....
There both nice units for different reasons.

I use a SOLO most of the day.
The Q before bed.

If you want to be on another planet the SOLO is not for you.
The @DDave kit works with many vaporizers.

If I had young lungs like you just smoke fat joints?
4 grams a day is not much!

@joker just read through your issues with the EQ and I went through the same issues with mine for months at first. It was chomping through the weed as I was only getting 2/3 very average pulls from an elbow pack. I tried changing everything and ended up going a very similar route to the @DDave mod.
But that didn't help.
I was stumped.

One day I was high and for some reason I grinded my herb a few extra times with the grinder upside down to really chomp it up till it was really quite fine.

Aaand that solved my issue. Simply just wasn't grinding fine enough.
Well I'm 99‰ sure that was it anyway..

Could give it a go?

Alright so I think I figured it out.

1) I got the wrong amounts, I used less than 0,1 every time.
2) The weed I had before just didn't give much vapor (don't know the reason, it was good weed and I tried 3 diff strains), even 0,05 now gives more than 0,1 before.
3) I still don't get nearly the amount I see in pictures/videos but I'm happy so far.
4) I did grind it properly every time, I tried kief, bigger pieces, smaller pieces. Most of the weed I get is pretty dry and easily grindable
5) And this is something that nobody mentioned I think but I read about it on Reddit.

I wrote before I got so insanely stoned in the store when I tried it out and never got the same effect. Been vaping for a few days now and still didn't, altough I get properly baked I do waste 30% more weed than with smoking. On Reddit many people wrote the vapor you exhale is actually a waste and weed vapor gets absorbed much slower than smoke. I'm sure you all know this (if it's true) but nobody here mentioned it to me (I think)

I don't remember if I did this in the store but I guess I did as that would be the only explanation. When I tried it in the store, at the time I was smoking cigarettes and joints non stop so that couldn't have been the issue. I tried vaping weed at home while smoking cigs, joints, or not smoking cigs and joints at all and didn't notice a big difference. The coming days I'm going to try out keeping the vapor in my lungs for 10 seconds and see if I notice a big difference in effect.

I prefer it this way now. Fill the cyclone bowl not the elbow. I'm lazy to stir and fill the whip when stoned cause I sit laid back, so I now just take hard draws so the weed goes in the elbow screen so it's practically the same as elbow packing, after my draw some weed falls out some stays in the screen, so I blow in the whip so it falls down, it's automatically stirred and take another hit. Complete bliss this way.

Herb gardener...
@ataxian i may be young at 30, but iv smoked fat, poor quality joint's for nearly 2 thirds of my life, all things are reletive I suppose...

I am a @DDave fan, about to order again from him, I like many spares, I'm sure you can relate to that with your glass smashing fetish...

4 grams a day isn't much, but 60 quid a day is.... depend's how you aquire....

@joker , the only flaw I found with your method, is that the standard cyclone screen is poop and blowing the load out of the elbow can caus particles to foul the heater mesh, also I found it just messier to load the cyclone, elbow packing is cleaner and I'm a bit ocd...

But I'm happy your appreciating the eq...

@kellya86 I'm just fucking around!

I only have 1 gram a day.
Dabbing when I need heavy.

The quality is so good now days?

My accessories for my EVO are gone so I use the "Q" and a @DDave kit for my driver.
Today I will use my dave kit with the EVO.

I will still keep the "Q" in rotation. Very medicating actually.
I was going to get another portable today however the SOLO works well for my needs!
GAS is the real problem I have at the movement.

oh my lord! I had 2 sessions today this way each with 0,15-0,20 gram in total 4 hours time. I am so stoned it's actually gotten a bit uncomfortable.. which would only happen after smoking about a gram of weed during that time.

I'm halfway my 2nd session but can't keep vaping anymore. My entire mind and body just scream I'm completely blasted.. no less than a small amount of edibles. Obviously the high just lasts shorter. From now on I'll definitely use less weed than with smoking joints. Or actually since I don't experience much of a hangover with vaping weed & e cigs I'll use the same but enjoy it much more :) Time to save up for a Crafty.

Thank you all so much, FC is really nice. After 6 months I finally get why everyone is so excited about vaping.

Edit: ok so after some hours I did some physical activity. Now my hands and feet are burning hot (especially my feet) and swollen and red, it's been like this for almost 2 hours now. Even without any clothes my feet are on fire. Is this cause of blood vessle vasodilation from the weed, which I didn't get before due to smoking tobacco with it?

Find what works for you!

Example:
Excessive THC levels is good if your aim is to be shit faced!

Edibles are good for some people however they freak me out.

Lower THC strains can be good too!

INDICAS HYBRIDS SATIVAS have there place
In my case:

SATIVA in the morning.
HYBRIDS during the day.
INDICAS at night.

Then again I do it for medical reasons.

Doctors don't know about this.

Your on your own basically!

Learn about strains, temperatures, effects.

I like GIRL SCOUT COOKIES for the EFFECT. (reading and study strain for me.) Day time.
In the morning I like PERMA FROST; MAUI WOWIE and a few others.
During the afternoon I like GSC, Gorilla Glue OG, Dutch Treat, the list goes on!
Evening GDP (GRAND DADDY PURPLE) Helps me to sleep.

I only listed a few I like however I would need to write a book to explain all the strains I've tried.

If you can find it SNOOP DOGGY PURPLE KUSH is very balanced.

There are many vaporizers these days.
The Q is good for the buck!

Find your sweet spot!

My needs are different than your's.
Plus we have Geographical Challenges for available strains?

Some people use CANNABIS for MEDICAL reason's.
Other's use it RECREATIONAL.

STUDY CANNABIS!

Ancient and opiniated inhaler
I was using the large stem DDave mod on my EQ with a relatively tightly packed "hat" shaped screen and noticed that it just wasn't working right - thin vapour and slow, incomplete browning of the material. Yes, normally I use a loose pack and that works better - but this made me think of an air leak and got me wondering about the air path with this setup.

After it cooled down, I subjectively tested the air seal by comparing air flow with the hat screen open, and with my (wet) thumb pushed tightly against the solid edge of the hat shaped screen to seal it. I found that there was a surprisingly large amount of air leakage when the "hat" should have been sealed. Looking with a loupe, there's a small air gap between the ground glass lip and the underneath of the solid stainless steel hat lip and presumably some air flows down between the walls of the screen and the glass stem avoiding the resistance of tightly packed bud. I'd never looked carefully, but it looks like the side mesh wall actually expands slightly in circumference before it disappears into that solid lip of the hat. I think this prevents the hat from sliding far enough down to make a tighter seal.

I tested by wrapping a single layer strip of aluminium foil around the outside of the side walls so it filled the gaps as best it can when gently pushed into the stem. Testing suggested this greatly decreased the air leakage - not completely gone, but subjectively much better and vapour density is much better with a packed stem suggesting that not so much hot air is leaking around the outside of the screen into the stem diluting the vapour filled air coming through the screen.

Maybe it's just me or varies with small manufacturing variations in the relative size of the inside of the stem and the outside of the hat screen - anyone else confirm this?

Foil is fugly but worked for me - but I'm sure there's a more elegant way to seal the tiny air gap?

If you notice the same leakage and want to try a seal, be very careful because it's probably pretty easy to crack the ground glass of your stem if you use enough force when inserting a screen made larger with foil!

Hey guys I was looking into getting the arizer extreme q for my first desktop vape and I wanted to know what you guys thought? I chimed you guys in Cuz I figured you guys must all own one by now and I love your advice!! Or if anyone could send me some links here on FC forum reviewing this vape? This thread is soo long now that it's almost impossible to sift through lol!
I got my Boundless cfx portable Vape and that thing performs lie a champ! Was just wondering how does the extreme q compare to the cfx in regards of flavor and vapor production?? This looks like a way better alternative to the volcano!
Anything will help guys,cheers! @His_Highness @YungLeaner @Justpassedu @subway13029 @Stu

Not doing it wrong. But as a rule of thumb, I'd try reading the last 10 pages of the EQ (and the CFX, FTM) as most topics get recycled here in the forum, So to keep up with the conversations and get to know the basics of the unit before it arrives.:2c: My sig has links to the legit @DDave kit which will increase performance of the EQ without having to hunt for separate parts on your own.

CFX is a newer portable. Arizer EQ a desktop that has been made for over/near a decade. So not sure if there is an equal comparison can be made.:hmm: Like say elbow packs on the EQ and the CFX. I'll check out the CFX forum myself for info. See you there too.

Lol, no, you're doing fine. Lot of people on here more knowledgeable about the EQ than me but I do own one. It's a really good desktop vape, works really well and is consistent and from a trusted company for the most part. I personally think that it's much, much, much better of a vape with the @DDave mods, which are available for an awesome price on eBay. It makes the EQ a huge clouds producer. On the other hand, I happen to love my Boundless and it's also a huge cloud producer. With the stock EQ setup they perform pretty similar, which is a good thing--both have great performance. The EQ is an amazing vape to use through bongs to have around the house. If you're interested in an experience more distinct from the EQ, I would recommend the Underdog Vape. There's a really helpful thread, the best customer service in the world, and a bunch of stems that come alongside with ordering it for around the same price as the EQ. It's totally analog, no temp control, but is awesome for water pipe hits and mine has been plugged in for 3 years, hot and ready to go. It's better for microdosing, which is why I suggested it if you were searching for perhaps a smaller bowl size with still large hits. But this is the EQ thread, and EQs are great. They upgrade it every few years, and the currently models are great. Good luck! PM me if you have more specific questions that you don't feel like posting, or you want help finding a good &cheap bubbler or bong to vape through.

All true, But I wouldn't necessarily use an Underdog as a first time out vape. The learning curve is different being analog and no temp control and the heat up time is longer. (45m+?) But worth the wait.:ko: My EQ is always plugged in and can be ready under 15m with my glass setup. Even less if I preheat with the fan. Can pack larger loads and have temp control and vape lower temp materials. Both do there thing well. Then again, I haven't tweaked my UD's power input yet. Another project for the UD forum.:science:

I've been 'hounded' to get a UD and caved on 4/20.(then updated my sig:D) It has been a good companion with my EQ and contrast and compliments my vape collection well. Especially with my claisen adapter.:brow: Plus the wood looks nice. It suits me fine. But I'm wary of recommending it to a first time buyer or first time user who is trying to kick combustion. :2c: & :peace:

IF I understand your post correctly @fubar, read any of my post on how to mushroom cap a basket screen. Its a way to reshape the screens to fit better in the adapter.

Lol,..snip....

What he ^ said. Here is my initial impressions of the Ddave mod after running my original & then modified EQ. Totally different ball game with the @DDave kit stepping up to the plate.

I'm wary of recommending it to a first time buyer or first time user who is trying to kick combustion. :2c: & :peace:

Funny enough the UD is one of the first desktop vapes I would recommend to anyone but especially inexperienced users trying to quit combustion. I still marvel at the way ripping a NonG feels like smoking a cone & it is just so satisfying . My EQ is a bigger ripper than my UD but it is not as user friendly & has a lot of breakable parts. Both great vapes but the EQ requires more than plug it in & turn it on to have it working well :2c: :peace:.

Some would get a certain satisfaction like smoking a cone or rip once they have found that sweet spot. Indeed.:ko:

However others are less patient or have different um... expectations from a vape experience. A few couldn't get the hang of log vapes. Or how to get a good whip draw. There isn't the visual feedback before you exhale unless you say hook it directly to a water tool or say a clear whip hose. Not knocking it at all. Just remember what it was like first learning with my PAX compared to my EQ, then educating myself more (and buying a few more portables) and getting to know my dog. That type of familiarity as one example.

Oddly and perhaps conversely, A few have quit combustion with an SSV/Da Budda alone and have never heard of FC or are familiar with any other person who vaporizes. That learning curve is impressive to me. Take that combustion!

If you found FC, at least you won't go entirely misinformed and can research and avoid newbie mistakes and avoid frustration. :bang:If you can figure out what you want in a vape first, then narrow it down to what is available second, then you can avoid a bad purchase. Fortunately both UD and EQ both excel at that.

Herb gardener...
After a week of eq abstinence, due to my burnt lungs from an accidental inhalation or some horrific shit, I finally got better and used it last night....

And I was hammered like I'd not vaped in 6 months...

This is testememt to what I've always said, the portables just don't come anywhere near to the power of a modded eq....

My solo and fm have kept me going this week, but iv found it more difficult to sleep without my eq, and no matter how much I put through a portable, it doesn't some close to 1 eq basket.... I fucking love this machine and I'm so glad to be back to healthy....

So I took your advice and sifted around the threads abit and found some more answers. It looks like this is a pretty sweet desktop vape to own for my first. I'm not a noob either when it comes to this stuff.
The Ddave mod kit looks like a no Brainer and I'd obviously get that with the extreme q. Now the updated 2016 version has like 26 upgrades... would the mod kit still be necessary Cuz it says they upgraded the shit outta it lol?
Also I live in Canada and I know they operate in my country so I checked out their site and it's listed for $240 but then I check other sites and it varies from like $140 to 180 which will still be cheaper than if I ordered it in my own country :\
So I'm not sure where to order the updated 2016 version extreme q! @YungLeaner
I just wanna get the best possible performance for my first desktop vape at a good price and this seems like the winner!!

I bought mine from Agracan in Canada (Under $150 US last year) as a suggestion from this forum. You have several choices. Plus I believe it is a medical device in your country.:rofl:Maybe your insurance will cover it? IDK?

So, I would only buy if from an authorized Arizer seller to take advantage of the warranty and that extra piece of mind. :2c: Had to RMA mine when it arrived the first week. But the 2nd has been bulletproof. Minus some battle scars.
You want the @DDave for the exactly same reason. He also upgrades his parts and takes suggestions. Check out his thread or PM him.

Arizer's unannounced upgrades is an interesting business model.;) Keeps us on out toes.:peace:

Glad you are getting better @kellya86. Anything to do with respiratory is scary stuff mate. I would have thought some bags through warm water will be the best bet with a lung issue rather than dry conduction vapour?

The glass D/D stem gives good vapour indication @CuckFumbustion but I did quit combustion because of my EQ unit so . The only advice I can give to @Andrew26 is to really play around with the EQ & try different techniques out. That is the only way to find out what will float your boat is to experiment :science:,

+1 on your recovery @kellya86. For me, Bags and bags through warm water plus my special towel steam baths & the normal healthy things you are supposed to do, helped me with the bronchitis and suppressed my couching and all those problems that arise from rough coughing.

@Andrew26 Plenty of room to choices to work with plus the kit. Digital readout and a wide temp range. Bags for respiratory ailments or accidental combustion in the workplace. Sheesh, get well everybody who is sickie. Glad I'm past that and wet weather.

Hey buddy , glad to see your interest in the Eq , i'll try my best to help. It is def a great budget desktop and can be a great starter vape imo with some patience and practice to find that sweet spot that you like. The DDave mods are a great inexpensive mod to improve this vape in many ways. There is really no comparison between it and the cfx , the eq will provide better flavor , not to say the cfx does not provide good flavor but you are mostly vaping through glass with the Eq wich yields a bit more flavor. When I 1st got my Eq I was floored at all the features you get for the price compared to others on the market but I will say it took me some time to learn how it really works and get the vapor production and flavor I really like. This is something you will have to play with also and using DDave mods will just get you there quicker and easier. Now as for comparing it to a volcano , a $450-$550 vape that was designed to blow bags and only do that it comes in short. The Volcano blows bags very well , the Eq cannot compare in speed and imo vapor production , I have owned both for years , so if your strictly looking to just do that the Volcano is your best bet. Personally I love my Eq but it has taken the back seat for a bit now as I come to find a Evo for my desktop needs and mating to glass and a Volcano for my bag usage , imo the best of both worlds but def expensive options. The Eq can do both of these well for a fraction of the price and patience but I honestly don't feel it does it better. The Eq is def a great start though to get you familiar with desktops and find out what you may like best.

Thanks for the great post dude. I figured I shouldnt be comparing my portable cfx to this desktop when it's all modded and said and done I'm sure the extreme q provides huge clouds with awesome flavor lol ?
Has Anyone tried out the new updated 2016 version of the extreme q? It has a bunch of updates!! Should I msg @DDave to get the mod kit for my extreme q and how to get the best out of it?? I just didn't want to spend the $500 to get the volcano when the modded extreme q seems like a really good buy for your money vs the volcano ( the volcano can't be that much better) and it can't be that complicated to use.. seems pretty simple.

Click the links in my sig to goto the mod site and the Ebay page. You can approach @DDave. There is also info here and on the threads too. Plus my 2 cents worth somewhere.

As for the EQ, the 26 updates didn't occur in a single year I believe. If you are getting your info from the literature. Website doesn't change itself that much to reflect the upgrades.
But they do make changes unannounced with each revision or production run, I'm guessing. To both the EQ and the kit. Like say the newer whip hose and balloon stem.

Frankly, You will be able to tell us what is new once you get yours. :)But there are a few posts in the thread that might help with the anticipation.

@CuckFumbustion Okay sweet, I think this will be my first desktop vape for sure! And at a fraction of the cost in compared to the volcano or vape exhale cloud evo!
Now I noticed a couple mod kits for the extreme q by ddave. Which kit is the one I should get, and Californiasea has his kits for sale as well with there own little touch to it lol should I avoid them?

@Andrew26

The latest model eq has a colour change but that's all... there was some posts a while back about it after my friend ordered an eq and it was a new colour.
I contacted Kevin from arizer, who confirmed it was only a colour change and nothing else...

As for @DDave, I would go with his kit. As I have already, more than once...
Get the 18mm kit If you can only get one...

No problem Andrew , I am not knocking the Eq at all , it is a great vape but from my personal experience the volcano blows bags allot better than the Eq and the Evo Milks my glass much easier than the Eq ever could. They are also almost triple the price if not even more than the Eq. You can achieve all this with your Eq it will just not do it as well. A good start like others have recommended is the DDave mod , that was the 1st thing I did to my Eq and if you don't want to spend the money on the entire DDave kit than I highly recommend getting his 18mm to 18mm adapter that replaces the stock adapter the eq comes with which will move your herb closer to the heater making for a much better extraction. Now the new updated version has not really added anything that is going to make it better at extracting vapor than the older models. Arizer usualy adds a few things to the Eq every few years and calls it a new version , a few years ago they slightly changed the color and the increments in wich you can adjust the temperature. It is never anything major as its been a proven design for them. The 1st models never even had a fan and were called the v tower and than they made the eq with the fan wich was essentially the same with a added fan.

Hey man @Justpassedu @kellya86 , yeah I see what your saying now, on their site and a couple other sites they were boasting about the new version and how much better it was lol.
I'm sure the vapes that are like triple the price like your vapeexhale produce amazing hits with their hydra tubes and such but for the price of the extreme q and with the mod, I can't go wrong right? So I figured lots of people love it and it will be a nice first desktop vape for me and I'm sure I'll be happy with it. Then in the future I'll invest into a more expensive one lol :).
As for the mod kits, I always want the best out of things so I can buy both I know there not to expensive, how much would it cost me for the ddave kits?
(I sent arizer an email because I live in Canada and still haven't heard back from them. How is their response time? )
