I thought I was starting to dial this thing in but I'm getting frustrated. When fully charged, it seems to go to sleep too fast.
I charged it and then turned it on and took an aggressive 2-3 second pull to prime it. I then waited 8-10 seconds and pulled again, much more slowly (very slowly). It shut off within 5 seconds of me beginning the draw. Tried again but pulled more aggressively for the real inhale phase. Same thing...it shut off in less than 5 seconds.
Clearly, I'm missing something. I thought the prime and wait was key but the experience when fully charged has been consistent...the fucker just wants to go back to bed. I love the idea of it and the look and feel of it; I'm willing to put more into it than I did the Prima. But...there is still something I'm missing.

Shit. I keep forgetting that because everything else I have remembers. Would that change how quickly it goes to sleep or is there no temp if you don't select a temp?

lmao yea you have to select a temp. so when you turn it on you hear a buzz than the next following buzzes indicate your battery temp. after that you choose what temp u wanna smoke on by the number of presses.

From what I see, you have the stainless steel heater, a stainless screen below your herb, a stainless screen above your herb, then glass. No Nichrome, see @friedrich 's post above....

Also a wooden body, path of least resistance is the three vents on the FW otherwise the charger plug, then the button.

Quick update on my FW3.
I picked up a walnut FW3 and it didn't seem to work as efficiently as my maple.
With some quick advice from Marc I was able to raise the temperature ranges upward. Now I am able to get incredibly smooth giant clouds off of temp 1 and I finish off on temp 2 with super tan ABV.
The FW3 is an exceptional portable convection vape at an unbelievable price, and it still keeps impressing me. I even find the battery life to be quite impressive. Especially being (4) AA batteries!

I gotta say, remembering to set the temp makes a big difference in results. Won't claim to have this thing dialed in but giving that little coil a goal on which to focus improves his attitude significantly.
It's great to prove your complete stupidity to tens/hundreds/thousands! Maybe I need to have @Mojo engrave "Set the temp, goddammit!" on the sides.

interessting fact that the temperature is adjustable by the user (I do not mean the 4 temp. settings) and your walnut fw3 was running cooler then your maple..
vas is telling me to buy a fw3 but I have read in this thread different opinions regarding clouds some are impressed and some are not... maybe it has to do with cooler running units?

The process is very simple and will save you from having to send your FW3 in. I would like to thank @Slow Draw McGraw for this one.
Basically, it is possible to adjust the temperature settings of the vaporizer by shifting the temperature ranges upwards in approximately 7 degree F increments. Here is how you can do it:
- turn on the vape
- wait until battery indicator buzzes are done
- click the button 8 times
- the vape will make 8 quick buzzes
- click the button 5 times
- the vape will make 5 quick buzzes
- click the button between 0 and 8 times:
0 clicks = set temp shift to 0
1 click = set temp shift to approx +7 degrees F for all heat levels
2 clicks = set temp shift to approx +14 degrees F for all heat levels
3 clicks = set temp shift to approx +21 degrees F for all heat levels
4 clicks = set temp shift to approx +28 degrees F for all heat levels
5 clicks = set temp shift to approx +36 degrees F for all heat levels
6 clicks = set temp shift to approx +43 degrees F for all heat levels
7 clicks = set temp shift to approx +50 degrees F for all heat levels
8 clicks = buzz back the current temp shift setting then shut off.
Ideally, when you turn on the vape and set heat level 3, without the mouthpiece in place, you should be able to see the coil barely glowing within about 10 seconds. If it isn't glowing then you may want to use the above procedure to shift the heat levels a bit higher (you can experiment, but starting with 4 clicks (+28 degrees) would be a good test to see if it helps.
I bumped mine up 4 clicks and it was money! So nice to be able to tweak the temp shift exactly to your liking so very easily!

@Mr Mellish - yeah lol gotta remember to set the temp first. That got me the first time I used it too. You'll get used to the whole "Firewood start up ritual" before too long.

The proprietary draw/power is pretty intriguing to me....as are all these glowing reviews. I have been searching for good vapes to take on the go. This seems tight. I am always wary of the battery life on units like this, that can take good hits on demand, so good to see nice reviews. The FF was a bit lacking imo in this sense, took too much energy to get it going from cold to my temp.
@firewood , I dig both the Maple and the Walnut, but would you do something more custom? If I got some wood shipped to you? Don't know if this has been asked or anything, but I would dig that. Glad to see all the happy customers and what appears to be a quality product

@Mr Mellish That keeps the temp range set where you set them to.
If you want you can change the temp range at any time with the steps.
If you want to "reset" the temps to where they were (factory settings when you got it) 0 clicks will reset it to factory default.
@mephisto I cut a small piece of a truck bedliner and put it on the top of my lid when mine split, however Marc had a new lid at my door in no time! Great customer service!

@HellsWindStaff The FW3 battery life kicks the fireflys battery lifes ass and they are user replaceable if they go bad!
I was a bit wary at first about battery life. It has not been a problem at all for me.

As @paytonpenn said, Just by reaching out to Marc.
This info is great for us and @firewood both.
If you can fix the issue yourself it saves both us and Marc time and money by not having to send the unit in to firewood to calibrate the temperature ranges and send it back.
When I got my walnut I noticed it didn't perform as well as my maple.
This option was Marcs reply, or I could send it in and have him do the same thing.
This has been really helpful to me so I wanted to share it with everyone.
