MiniVAP Vaporizer

@stonevape Is your vape the newer glass lined one?

I had a PP and thought it was pretty good, light and nice shaped, but it was so brittle! The MiniVap is definitely made of far better materials! It took me a while to warm to the MV as I had high expectations but it's definitely a great vape, it could maybe do with a few improvements though! :D

Hey stonevape glad to hear you're getting to grips with it, I've just put mine on charge but thought I would connect it to the mains just to see if it works!! PROBLEM!!! it's doesn't seem to be working! Press the two buttons together and nothing! Connected a battery to it and tried again, nothing! Please say I'm doing something wrong? Not a good start! Thinking if I got a volcano I might be sitting here with a bag! :bang:

Chill! :D Are you holding the two buttons in for long enough?

You're not trying to turn it on while it is connected to the battery while on the charger, are you? This can kill it.

Luckily I read that first! No charged the battery, Mid charge tried the power adapter and nothing! Can't believe it!

Hi stickstones, I've just got my torch out and shining it down the heating chamber! Can see the glass, is it supposed to have a brownish looking colour dusty material in the inside of you know what i mean? Definitely not working! When I plug the mains charger in using the adapter, the battery indicator light turns from green to red when I try turning the power on! Then I can hear a slight clicking noise a bit like a thermostat clicking off!??

Damn!
That could be mine if I ordered one yesterday.
Sorry to hear that!
But this is really off putting me...
I might really have to get old Teflon core versions from other sellers or wait until this new glass unit officially release and no longer called beta testing unit.
I have finally received reply from Minivap, Alfredo and he said that these beta units(glass cores)only sent under request from beta testers and online customers before announcing new release to gather general oppinions.
And only MV store and Vapefiend are stocking these beta units.

@mixchu69, that looks like a Teflon lining to me, you got lucky!

I have to admit, It's not great to hear I'm testing the new unit without being asked or even told, to find out from an email to another customer isn't ideal - and how can I test it properly when I've not tried a teflon lined one?

It must be difficult for Hermes, I don't think they're a big company, but they have a supposedly premium product with a premium price, as a customer I don't feel like I've got a premium product and I've certainly not had a premium customer experience!

One thing for sure is that I'm not massively impressed with the taste from my MV, I also still think my battery isn't operating as it should and I've still not received the right coloured cap which I was promised before Christmas!.

Hmmm.
I bet if you voice your thoughts to Alfredo or Jorge, they will make it right. It seems like they really care, but that is just my experience and opinion

Yep! If I had got a volcano I'm sure I would be sat here now medicated! Mv does look very nice though! Feel the quality! Expensive paperweight atmo!

@I.b.vaping - Are you sure the charger's connecting properly, what colour is the LED on the power adaptor?

Hi sid, when first connected battery the light was green! Tried using power adapter and nothing! When I connected to the power adapter the light went from green to red!

@I.b.vaping - If I were you I'd at least sit it on the charger and wait for it to charge fully, although if it's not turning on with the power connected that does sound odd, but even in the worst case scenario don't panic as Vapefiend is fantastic in terms of sorting out faults, you'll get sorted!

EDIT - The LED on the charger adaptor will be green, then when you place the battery into the charger it will turn red, then it'll stay red until the battery is charged at which point it'll turn green again.

Mine came almost fully charged. I understand the frustration but if you reread this whole thread (I definitely recommend it) everyone seems upset at their first experience with the mv, but after a week, I only see praises. I was one of them too. I purchased the mighty and this at the same time but enjoy my experience with the mv more. Regarding the battery, mine went almost straight to green out of the box.

Typical! He said he'll try to fix or replace it! Think I'd rather have another new one!

One user on here reported a similar situation that was remedied by making sure the battery connections were being made...
Thanks, although for that kind of money you shouldn't have to do anything like that hey?!

I agree. If you just purchased an expensive vaporizer, you should not have to worry so much. Please be patient with the mv and you will be surprised. I am glad you got some peace of mind in getting a new one.

Well my first evening with the miniVAP was underwhelming but expectations had been pumped up.

I'll be honest: the only thing I felt differentiated it from my Pinnacle Pro is the wonderfully cool temperature of the vapour through a pair of whips join together, build quality and battery life. I genuinely don't notice anything that warrants the £280 extra over the Pinnacle Pro in terms of how big the clouds are and how medicated I felt afterwards, and I'm not sure the above factors warrant the extortionate price except for the curious. I suppose being stuck in Britain with whatever herbs we can get hold of contribute to that, but if herb quality is the deciding factor, again why did I spend all this money?

I don't like that you have no idea when the battery is charging or charged, when it's on the plate. That's incredible to me when you're paying about £100 for the battery on top of the charging adaptor.

I don't understand why the charging adaptor itself costs an extra £40 on top of the £369 the Portable version costs, now I'm looking at all these bits and pieces.

The first temperature setting appears to be pointless, really. No smell, no taste, nothing. Not sure what it's for.

Taste-wise this is entirely down to the quality of the herb and in the UK I get what I'm given/sold, sometimes it's crystally, smelly and cured crumble-dry; other times it's not cured that much at all. Still, our ABV is if anything ever so slightly lighter in colour than from the PP, even after sucking every last bit of vapour out of a half basket on the top heat setting (starting low and working up).

And as my wife refuses to adapt her practice of 'one draw, pass, until it's done' there wasn't much chance to test the benefits of the convection design that leaves herbs uncooked between draws. (She also has this annoying attitude that if her technique doesn't produce a cloud then it's time to turn it up, even though I'm getting nice enough clouds when it's my go). Certainly couldn't tell you the difference between the MV and the PP in this respect either.

I dunno. It's nice looking. It's sturdy. It's probably going to last a lot longer than the PP did before needing replacing or servicing. But... really, I dunno what I'm meant to be getting from it :(

I can't argue with anything you say. I think that this vape, more than any other, attacts "fanboys" who aren't willing to accept any criticism.

Not sure about that! Would say that hardly anyone has heard of minivap in the UK! Seems like that to me, everybody usually talking about volcano more often!

I am a fanboy because it's a great vaporizer. Sorry, that sounds like a fanboy comment.
Hopefully I'll be a fanboy lol just sent mine back! Should have it back Thursday hopefully

You couldn't be more off base and clearly haven't read the thread. Try that before throwing insults at people you don't know.

Getting a replacement! Want to give it a go as I've been looking at getting one for so long! Sure it'll be worth it in the end...

I feel you. It's not a great feeling to get a high priced vaporizer and need to return it right away. Hopefully, you have a backup vape.
Thanks mixchu69 thankfully I have a solo, pax, pnp and a iolite lol really doesn't give you that kind of peace of mind you expect to get with a premium device!
