Discontinued Indica Vaporizer

Ok. Sorry I ever asked. At least now Burn got a response after waiting over a month.

I called and indicas support was amazing. They are sending me a new unit. Sorry if me questioning other FC members about their experience with indicas warranty service upset anyone, but it was just a simple question not an accusation of poor service. If I wouldn't have asked then Burn would still be waiting on a phone call and the indica president wouldn't know about this other rare manufacturing defect. Thanks for all of your support.

I just recieved a replacement unit and am about to send my broken unit back in, if there is trace evidence of the vaporizer being used for herbs will my warranty be void?

My replacement unit shipped out today, I got a tracking number. Now I'm trying to find out if I have to pay for the return shipping on my cracked unit or if Indica can email me a prepaid shipping label or something along those lines. They have been great so far and I understand that this is costing them money having to ship me a new unit, but I still don't think I should have to pay to return the cracked unit since it is not my fault that it is cracked. I already paid for shipping once when I purchased the cracked unit. I'm also not sure if they are sending me the whole package, wooden box, accessories, Indica unit; or just a new Indica unit. If I have to pay for return shipping I hope it is just a new Indica unit and not the whole shebang, as I imagine it will cost me close to $20 to ship back everything and probably less than $10 to ship back just the Indica. Sorry I only earn $10.50 an hour so having to pay the return shipping would cost me a couple hours of pay, which I can't afford. The customer service at Indica doesn't know the answer, so any help is appreciated.

Does anybody else that has had to return a unit to Indica know if Indica covers return shipping or not?

@salazar17 The woman I talked to at Indica customer service was very nice and said to just make sure and clean the unit good before shipping it back and it should be all good.

My replacement contained the entire thing. As for sending it back, I guess they'll only want the unit, I'm not sure how much your instruction booklet or wooden box had to do with the crack :p

That is pretty awesome of Indica. Those wooden boxes are nice and a double set of accessories is awesome. I'm supposed to get a call from someone at Indica letting me know about return shipping, but if I get to keep all that extra stuff and just send back my cracked Indica then I have no problem paying for return shipping.

We only request that the Indica itself be mailed back. Not the accessories nor the wooden box of your original unit. My thoughts, as you realized above, is that there's tangible value in these added components that monetarily out way the few dollars to send the return by snail mail.

I'm hoping we can move this dialogue back to the progressive discussion as I'm currently in the process of developing the next release for spring of next year. Without being redundant from past postings, please let me know what you've enjoyed in the "Noir" and what you would wish for in our future models.

Hi Mike,

I am rather enjoying the current Noir version but if I were going to make it better I would change the following:

*some different color options. I mentioned this before that I would love to see something in between the SS and Black. Say brushed gun metal color or similar. I am sure others would like to see different colors as well.

*memory reset for the heat setting timeout

*increase the heat setting timeout or make it user selectable. I am a session guy and always have to reset and toggle through back to my last setting which is a minor annoyance.

*internal tool storage

*cartridge system for loading- I love this about my Haze and Inh. Prepackaged for quick swapping on the go.

*if sticking with the zippo design, an option to easily remove the lid for stealth use

*built in permanent screen over the air path. Yes I know it comes with screen's but let's face it, they are a pain and nobody uses them. How about a small permanent screen over the airpath so I don't need to keep sticking the pipe cleaner down there to unplug it.

*Make it smaller without sacrificing performance.

Yes I know, I ask for the world! But if you can swing it, these things would be great!

Thanks Mike! Keep up the great work!

These 4 points sum it up for me.

Keep the heat memory for if it times out and you turn it back on with 5/10 mins. If I turn it off myself, or don't go back to it after it turns off, that probably means I'm done and by the time I turn it back on, it's refilled and I'd want to go back to blue.

While that one is probably my only actual issue, these next things are just some minor quality of life improvements.

If we can include optional cartridges, possibly contact @Ratchett for some ideas and work together? I like the thought of not requiring them, as they're just more things to lose but they could help if we want to re-fill on the go.

Same for the lid. I think the zippo design is great, and most of the time the lid is down, so if the choice is either lid or no lid then definitely keep it, however if there's a way to remove it while vaping that would really help the discreetness.

Smaller without sacrificing performance would be nice, but purely for the discreetness factor of making it look more like a real zippo. I think the size is certainly good enough from a portability point of view, but when I'm with friends that see it up close and exclaim "Wow, that's a huge lighter!" it kind of makes me worried that some eagle-eyed undesirable person may see it while it's in use and wonder what's going on.

I saved the screen till last, because I wanted to say, if it can be pulled off, then brilliant, that would also allow for a wider air path so we can get bigger hits, but surely the screen would just get clogged like any other screen eventually does? And if it's permanent, we wouldn't be able to replace it, and it would be a bitch to clean.

Just my expanded thoughts.

My wishlist:

* Memory! I sometimes run up to the green setting in 1 session and turn it off to save the rest for later. Sometimes later is a day or two later. Sometimes it's frustrating to forget if the material is spent, so I usually waste a bit of juice and crank the vape up to purple or red and see if I get any vapor clouds.

* Removable top - I love closing the top, makes the vape more smell proof when not in use, and fun to flip around. But I'd like the option to remove it when using it with my WaterPipe Adapter (sometimes I get nervous about the lid clanking up against my bubbler).

* Stronger magnet on the oven door - the magnet is nice, but I rarely use it because I don't trust it to not fall off while loading

* Removable vapor path - resin buildup from condensed vapor does happen. It would be nice if there was a way to remove the vapor path so it could be soaked in ISO for cleaning.

* Better scratch resistant paint - the black looks nice, but there are a few small nicks and scratches after several weeks of use

* Bluetooth capability - all the cool vapes have bluetooth! It would be fun to see various stats on the vape - temp settings, battery level, hell some sort of odometer to track sessions or hit count would be SWEET!

Hey Forum, every one of these thoughts are being pondered with equal merit so bring it on. Appreciate the explanations and shortcomings being pointed out. Many of these I see on a daily basis, but as my father used to say, it 's difficult "to tell the trees from the forest."

@Ratchett brought up a great idea, but is it possible the consumers of the Indica will be tracked by the hierarchy of the Illuminati. Now I realize I'm going overboard but I've noted that GPS , bluetooth technology and even IR may be frowned on for those seeking anonymity. What percentage of the vaporist have that paranoia bug up their crack?

That was my reaction too. It occurred to me that a much better placement for the screen would be inside the mouthpiece. You have to cut the screen to fit, but you could remove it easily if it ever needs cleaning. I doubt you'll have to. I've only gotten particulate in my mouth once while using an Indica and I don't use a screen.

Edited to clarify: I switched here to talking about the current Indica, sorry about that. You can adopt this solution right now.

As long as this feature didn't make the top prone to falling off, I like this idea. There have already been suggestions to make good use of the empty space inside the top, and making the top removable expands the possibilities.

@Vape Dr. had a cool magnetic attachment with a quick release hinged cover. This will be visited. It all goes back to Magnets, Heat and space limitations.

What I need/want is some superconductors and a little Thorium. Just thinking big in a small way.We could have a chill levitating vaporizer. No limit to temp and never getting hot in your hand. But I see lots of problems. If you have braces or dentures, it'll repel. We'll scratch this one for the moment. :hmm:

I already love the size and lid (though for watertooling I guess it is in the way a little), but I have no problem hiding it all in my hand even when in use. But ofcourse it would be even stealthier without it, I just wouldnt want to risk losing that aspect of the design as I really really like the form factor of this little guy

Some sort of memory would be useful, but I agree I don't want to get stuck with it, bc most often I want to start from the bottom. Likewise about cartridges, they'd be nice to have but I don't want to need them (and sometimes performance can fluctuate with or without a cartridge). Maybe including a small vial case for extra herb for easy reloading on the go? One that fits perfect to pour the right amount in the bowl.

Another thing would be some different spacer sizes, since two is usually too much for my bowls and resitricts airflow, while one can be too little (or sometimes one is too much, so like a small, medium, and large size would make sense). I also bring up again my idea about having the pick be narrow and cylindrical enough that it can also poke through the vapor path for clogs, even mid session. One end of it can be curled a little so it can hook out the spacers from the oven as well (and ofcourse keep it stored in the lid or something).

I wonder if there is also some way to improve airflow from behind, where it enters in from the top of the oven? Though that is also maybe what leads to the herb at the top of the oven not cooking quite as thoroughly as the herb in the bottom? Also maybe having lights flash during heat up instead of just the blink upon temp reached since it can be easy to miss (not a big deal at all though).

Finally, this ones probably not even worth mentioning again, but user replaceable batteries would be wonderful, but maybe tough in this tight form factor? It would just be amazing to be able to swap out since battery life is not quite hitting the max 90min on green for me (typically see 60min, plus another 10 or so depending on temps used), it may have to do with using multiple temps though and even changing temps mid session. The USB charging is great and quick, but for heavy users who might only have one Indica and that's it, replaceable batteries could keep them going indefinitely.

Also not that its so necessary in practice, since the customer service is outstanding, but a longer warranty period would likely entice more buyers who end up choosing another (mahbe inferior...) device bc they get more peace of mind with a long warranty on a big purchase. I think it can be a silly reason, but it does seem to be important to many consumers...

Likewise any way to limit any plastic even further would give some people peace of mind, and perhaps improve durability as well? I'm unsure, but i think that basically the least amount of separate parts is ideal, to prevent any risks of damage. It already does a great job of this, but anyway it can be simplified even further would probably only help maintain consistency unit to unit.

I'll post more as I think of them, its tough with oh so much to like here already!

I think this is a great idea, but one of the ideas for the screen close to the oven is so bits dont clog up the pathway so we dont have to faff about with the pipe cleaner as often. Either that or there could be a mouthpiece-sized metal rod with a handle tucked into a corner of the Indica so that it's less to carry around.

The staff here at FC has had quite a bit of experience with Michael, the Indica co. owner, and you can rest assured that the cust. svc. is at a high standard. You can save your cust. svc. skepticism for some other company.

Well my skepticism is creeping back. Apparently a new Indica is not being shipped to me and the tracking number they gave me was for the cracked Indica that was delivered back on October 28th. I called customer service and was told they didn't see my request for a replacement. Now I am being told to wait for a call back. Where is this amazing customer service I hear so much about? How hard is it to get a replacement in the mail for me?

I got this with the 10% off discount and at this point I'm ready to just get a refund and move on to a different vaporizer.

Sorry I'm killing the positive direction of this thread, but it is Indica not sending me a replacement that is the problem; that is something that is in their control not mine.

@dantheman420 - you are in the right place. Sometimes FC feels like the place where people fall to when they slip through the cracks. Luckily some of the manufacturers are here like Mike to catch you. No one feels taken care of when they fall through the cracks. All we can tell you is that if you don't get your issue resolved happily with Mike you will be the first we have heard of. It sounds like yours will take longer than most, but I really have no doubt you will get taken care of. Hang in there!

Thank you. I sent Mike a message. I really loved the yummy clouds my Indica produced when I first got it but now it is falling apart. The crack on the top is now big enough that it feels like it is effecting my draws from the mouthpiece. Also my metal loading chamber door is now falling off. Right in the middle of a session it fell off onto my leg and almost burnt me. I looked and half of the plastic piece that holds on the chamber door was broken off.

Now it just sounds like I have been beating this Indica to hell and back when I have taken really good care of it, my first Iolite lasted me 3 years of heavy use before the ignition clogged from some bad butane and couldn't be fixed. I think I just got very unlucky and my Indica was molded with some defective plastic.

I also apologize for bringing down this thread, but all I want is what all of you have; a working Indica.

Hey guys, a UPS glitch has occurred as well at the same time as a software update. I'll chime in with updates. Sorry for any current confusions.

For all interested in following @dantheman420 saga, his Tracking number was generated by customer service on Friday during the Thanksgiving shutdown and his replacement was shipped yesterday. My suggestion to all is if your Indica is faulty and have a replacement on it's way, please use wisdom, and stop using it. My team and I try to be proactive and want you to be happy Vaporists as quickly as possible.

@dantheman420, I think my customer service personnel did a great job. I normally don't do this but could you apologize to them for questioning their integrity. They are a proud people and work hard to maintain this high standard of service.

Regarding International UPS, still in the works, sorry to all overseas, we are working fast and furious. I hope to clear this up by weeks end.

Now regarding the UPS issue, thats due to cyber Monday Traffic and UPS's software. they are having problems with almost all their vendors. We'll get it cleared when they do.

Indeed I do have a new tracking number. Thank you and your customer support team for helping get this issue resolved. I apologize if I made any of your customer service personnel upset, I may have questioned their integrity but that was not my intent. As I told you I have been ripped off before and I am currently in a $70,000 lawsuit against the contractor that built my house improperly (support beams in the crawlspace need over $70,000 in repairs or my house could collapse and the contractor tells me to "kiss it"). I can be cynical of the world and other people have given me plenty of reasons in my life to be that way. I now know I shouldn't have been that way with you or your company. Again thank you for sorting out the problem and getting a replacement Indica on its way to me.
